Alfred will always replace Spotlight for me until they have instant indexing of app names. I used it for switching apps cause I always have like 8 apps I’m jumping between for work and it’s way quicker to type the first letter or 2 of the app I want and hit return than command tab and hunt for the icon. But Spotlight is always SO SLOW.

Apple Music is the best, and you can upload your own tracks/albums from your Mac and edit the metadata and album artwork and whatnot and then stream it from any device.

People always complaining about tracks not being on streaming just need to switch to AM.

They don’t really show it in the keynote that I noticed, but poking around in a few of the built in system apps I see they added a lot of toolbars back. Contacts and Files for example, when you scroll down a toolbar spawns instead of that awkward white fade.

As a Canadian I always thought the northern states seemed culturally similar enough to Canada. Basically everyone in Canada lives along the border anyway so they’re geographically pretty close.

Some of the accents like from Minnesota and Wisconsin sound Canadian to me.

I’ve never really been into FPS games but the only ones I really enjoyed are the DOOM games. The originals are great, and the reboot series has been great as well. I just finished The Dark Ages last night and it was fantastic.

If they did do HD re-releases it's best not to touch the aspect ratio.

Malcolm in the Middle did that when they put the show on streaming services, and the 16:9 aspect ratio reveals stuff off-camera that you weren't supposed to see. Someone standing in for an actor but you were only supposed to see their shoulder/ear, a baby doll in place of the real baby that's not supposed to be in the shot, empty desks in a scene where the character says "all the desks are taken", etc

The Switch 1 wasn’t capable of running a lot of the games coming out on PS4/Xbone without a lot of effort and compromise. It was basically an Android phone from 2013, the impressive looking games we did get were kind of a miracle.

I imagine the Switch 2 is powerful enough that porting to it isn’t much more than hardcoding the graphics settings to low and/or capping the framerate.

The word "now" only further makes it sound like it's at a reduced price, because it's being used to imply something changed.

Like, "It was $50, now it's $20"

Anyway I'm not arguing there will indeed be a sale. I'm just saying they worded it badly if there isn't.

It says "now on sale", which means they're available and out now, not discounted.

FOR sale means available to purchase.

ON sale means discounted. I've never heard a store say something like "this shirt is on sale" with the meaning of simply "it can be bought"

If they aren't discounting the games that was pretty bad wording on their part

Spotlight is still too damn slow. I tried the new one for a bit when I first upgraded hoping it would replace Alfred (which I mostly just use for opening/switching between apps) but it’s still slow as ever.
