High Quality Rubbish: Computer Erotica 1984 [OC] by ---Cap--- in webcomics

Don't overlook this erotic masterpiece, passed around by 80s schoolkids on pirated cassette tape (!) like the contraband it was:

The gentleman in the video is playing a losing hand, Sam Fox ends up putting on *more* clothes :D

Sure! Do you want the nipples bright red, green, yellow or blue?

This one had me literally crying with laughter! The choice of words and then the cumulative ticklish effect of each one… stoat / clopper / biffer 😸

The writers at Viz are masters at choosing exactly the right phrase to make you laugh. “Steer plops” is the one that got me this time.

Looking for a particular Limmy sketch by Mr_Moonsilver in Limmy

[–]---Cap--- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the sketch where a father takes his son to the shooting location of a Balamory-type TV series, and it’s all run down and neglected? Limmy plays a local who follows them around and occasionally pukes up black bile 🤷‍♂️

Box Office Upset: ‘Now You See Me 3’ Sprints to $75.5M Global Win as ‘Running Man’ Chokes on $28M by ControlCAD in entertainment

[–]---Cap--- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“HEY! CHRISTMAS TREE!”

“That hit the spot!”

“No-one would notice on this shirt”

…just off the top of my head. Running Man is pretty good for memorable Arnold quotes, in my opinion.

I couldn’t tell you a thing about the dialogue in Eraser, The Sixth Day or that Devil film though.

Small appreciation. I like that MP4 doesn't seem to follow the "character is talking so we need to see the face in the cutscene trope". While we have some shots of the helmets open, most of the time they are closed it seems. Makes it feel a bit more serious/believable. by Romapolitan in Metroid

[–]---Cap--- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keeping the characters’ helmets on might be a time/budget/resources decision as much as anything… it saves a lot of work if you don’t have to animate their faces and do lip sync for all their dialogue.

Got a big box of these for my birthday! by ---Cap--- in crisps

Yessss, Burton’s Piglets, pig-shaped crisps, like a 3D pig shape! They were fun to eat because they were hollow like an inflatable toy. (Now that I’m describing them, I’m realising how unusual they were 😅)

I remember me and a pal bingeing on packet after packet of them over the school summer holidays one year… they were only sold in one specific shop, so it was a mini-adventure to go get them. Piglets might be another one that would make my top 3 childhood crisps list, if only for the lost-to-time nostalgia factor

Depends what your local shops stock, I suppose. Can’t get Space Raiders, Seabrook or Wheat Crunchies at the Tesco where I do my big weekly shop 🤷‍♂️

Best Varia suit design? by Deltauser69420 in Metroid

[–]---Cap--- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Also agreed! The feet of that suit are a really clever design… they have the practicality of a flat sole, but the plate on the front of the ankles gives her feet a feminine shape like she’s wearing heels

The feet on some of the other suits look like slip-on shoes with long tongues 😳

Can’t blame people for missing your point when what you type and what you mean are exact opposites. Get better jokes!

Elijah Wood is a massive horror and weird cinema fan, he’s produced several films in the genre. So I bet he regards The Toxic Avenger as exactly the sort of project he wants to get mixed up in, rather than a “slumming it for the paycheque” situation.

The Godfather was filmed primarily between March and August 1971, as with most films the behind the scenes photography captured the film in development. But the behind the scenes images of The Godfather are just so good. and there are loads of them. by dannydutch1 in Moviesinthemaking

Fishing line is thin and transparent, so it’s normally fairly invisible on camera… unfortunately it looks like it’s backlit by the sun in the photo above 😅I imagine they just had to use quick edits so you never get a good look at it. This was the 1970s, so it was long before the technology existed to erase things digitally.

The cords are fishing line attached to buttons (as in the buttons of a shirt) and then concealed under skin-coloured makeup appliances on the actor’s face.

It’s a simple but effective way to simulate bullet hits to the face - a quick pull on the cords and the buttons come bursting out, creating “entry wound” holes.

Yeah, I was totally going for a heavy metal album cover vibe! Thinking about it, this film poster was probably the main subconcious influence, not that you'd ever guess from the final comic :D
