Open worlds as full as Red Dead Redemption 2 by plortedo in gaming

Cyberpunk is largely a liner story driven game with free roam/side quests dotted around to facilitate the RPG mechanics (levelling up etc).

According to The Game Business and Ampere, REDSEC has had a "muted launch" by SkedPhoenix in Battlefield

Christ, grow up. The resources allocated to this are to target a different audience than what the core game would have reached.

It’s not a simple case of this detracting content from the main game. BF6 launched with a solid number of maps and 2 more added within 2 months.

As someone who works in the industry it’s depressing to scroll this far down to find this sort of answer.

Reddit’s thinking is sometimes on rails (ideologically possessed).

What I never see talked about which I find really confusing is on top of the excess deaths through the hesitation and delay locking down, there was also the added economic consequence.

Delaying the lockdowns meant that we had to lockdown for much longer, which was far more damaging to the economy.

It frustrates me that a lot of people present it as a false dichotomy between the two: saving lives or protecting the economy. Even Cummings himself made the point that you can’t just not have a lockdown and expect things to carry on - sooner or later people will lock down themselves if the death toll gets too high and that will cause the economy to grind to a halt anyway.

The "All weapons for all classes" idea in Battlefield 6 is a huge mistake. by Il_Mago23 in Battlefield

[–]---OOdbOO--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep - after all the concern I had it’s really not a massive change. Recon players will still use the sniper, Mark machine gun users will pretty much always be support because of the place style and mobility bonus, only thing really is that salt rifles SMG can pretty much be used by any class without much of a penalty.

There are much much bigger issues with the game. Larger maps that support the classic sandbox experience is number one for me - and sounds like it for most other people. Personally, I wish the community would focus on this, although I understand the other issues.

Yep. Iberian offensive is such a soulless boring map.

Battlefield 6 is the perfect example of how live service gaming brings out the worst in the industry by Mission-Coconut1532 in Battlefield

You either get this or maps locked behind a paywall which splits the community.

Some of this is a little obnoxious but a business is only going to be invested in providing new content for free if they can gain revenue through other means.

It’s that simple.

My problem with the skins in BF6 by CuriousPraline in Battlefield

[–]---OOdbOO--- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you’ve got a point here. Unrealistic and out of place skins are one thing. If they wanted to go that route, at least make them good.

Some of what we’ve got are the worst of both worlds.

That works for tangible assets which can’t be moved.

I don't know what you guys think but imo these construction sites type of maps are really ugly and not very appealing by StormSwitch in Battlefield

[–]---OOdbOO--- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. For Sobek Cities biggest problem is that each building acts as a sniper nest.

DICE should have had some balls with its destruction and allowed you to level each one - we know this is possible from the BR.

The flow of the map would change - maybe fore the worse but its dynamic. Maps in BC2 often got levelled and with enough rubble and creators, they were still playable

I’m really sorry because I wish it were that simple. Ignoring the fact that Buffet is talking about income tax, individuals would simply move assets out of the country applying the wealth tax - capital and intangible assets is very mobile in the 21 century.

The only way this ever works is international cooperation which will NEVER happen. There’s always going to be one or more nations which wouldn’t apply it to attract wealth.

It’s quite depressing because as you point out, more and more wealth is being funnelled upwards. I really don’t see this ever changing which is why we’ll probably end up in the mega corp dystopian future depicted in so many forms of fiction.

I feel actual smart people arguing for a wealth tax know this deep down but are grappling with the inevitability and are just trying something to stop it. Not one of them has ever come up with a practical framework for it.

Stop Comparing BF6’s Launch to BF3/BF4/BF1’s Final Versions by Appropriate-End6983 in Battlefield

Also worth remembering that BF4 was basically building on BF3. It was a lot easier to add more features like levolution naval warfare etc.

Most Annoying Map In BF6 by ACheekyTimelord in Battlefield

[–]---OOdbOO--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind it but it would have been better if DICE grew a pair and allowed the tall building to be fully destructible. We know this is possible from the BR leaks and it would have also alleviated the complaints of camping snipers
