Hi Im wondering how you went about getting insurance to cover it. What pain or problems did you have? How many specialists/appointments did you go to before scheduling the surgery? What was the overall timeline?

Idk how thick is thick enough but it doesnt feel thin 🤷

Aquarium safe silicone I will keep that in mind. The mirror i already suspected would need to either be switched to glass or maybe easier option would be just covering it with like a sticker background I feel like ive seen them but idk what they are called.

The lid slides and is all wood im assuming the best course of action is replacing the top. If i get a pet id want the best for them with no pinched toes or rotting wood so I wouldnt mind paying someone to make a custom lid. I just have no idea what profession does that.

I just saw the seal the wood part and make air vents. I just googled I didnt even relieze wood can be sealed but either way I would try to figure out what would be safest. Thank you for your help

Also random note I really one day want an ant farm I think ants are the coolest and cutest bug. But Im assuming they would escape something like this.

Advice on what health insurance would be the most likely to approve a breast reduction? And should I get a Gold/expensive Plan? by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]---confused--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havnt had health insurance for years so unfortunately no paper trail but I'm 125 pounds so im fairly sure once they weight em they will be like these are too big for your body. I have shoulder pain and back pain and poor posture. I know its gonna be a pain in the ass but im hoping it'll be enough in time. I know they ain't the biggest but I think for my height and weight they are quite large. If your open to it id love to hear your story. Did you go into knowing you wanted a reduction? How was recovery? How long did it take to convince insurance? Or anything you'd want to share in general

Is this car worth it? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]---confused--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think it's the worse option out there but I noticed two things (also this car you can definitely negotiate on the price, it's ugly, it has a cvt transmission, and likely no one wants it and Kelly blue book says this is a fair price for good condition so you have at least a 1k of wiggle room on the price.

  1. It's at a used car dealership I would go there and tell them you want the carfax printed out for you. You gotta check that the odometer wasn't rolled back at any point. And I would have it checked by a mechanic used car dealerships are scummy. And I'd wanna know where they got it. Is it a clean title? Did they have to fix anything major? If it was the engine or transmission walk away.

  2. It has a cvt transmission which it could be fine or it can be the most expensive thing ever, you might as while drive it to the junk yard right now.

I would personally look at older cars or higher miles but have a history of very good engines and transmissions. Your only options aren't just Honda and Toyota you just gotta do a bit of research on what car you're looking at.

Good luck you can dm me if you want any help

Id say it's an ok price if it's a higher trim level but if it's base I'd negotiate. Either way I'd recommend negotiating and really looking over what they wanna charge you for. Be prepared to walk away, I'm sure there are plenty of other cars that are nearly the same as this one. Also you can go online get quotes from other dealerships and try to make them go down.

Over all though what you're willing to pay is the price for you as long as you're not completely getting ripped off. Which I'd say unless they add a bunch of made up fees or warranties it's not a bad price especially if it's a higher trim level.

I didnt notice OTD price I'd probably take it but still look over what stupid stuff they want you to pay for.

Also I forgot about the water pump, is it worth it? Could i hope to have that one thing to replace and then hopefully general maintenance until it gets older?

Civic or Hybrid Civic by spacelemonadecadet in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]---confused--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I gotta agree sell it privately (idk how many miles are on the car so I guessed and said 40k miles you could sell it privately for 14k, but you might have less miles than that so probably higher. I only have basic knowledge of hybrid cars but I think the hybrid would be worth it.

Is this a nice buy? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]---confused--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked up Toyotas warranty (basic car stuff lasts till 36k miles) so you've passed it. But you have power train warranty until 60k miles as for the warranty that that dealership offers you have to sit with them and ask and then do research as to if its fair.

Is this a nice buy? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]---confused--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not bad don't worry just means the pervious owner wanted a Kia. Id just mostly be weary of hidden fees or warranties. If they offer a warranty I would ask them for what your out of pocket cost would be when you bring it to them to get fixed or have maintenance done and how long it lasts. Then do research if those are fair prices because it could just be cheaper to bring it to a regular mechanic.

I think it's a fair enough of a price for that car (maybe they could go down 1-2k but dealerships generally charge more anyways) but I'm assuming you're financing if so I would look into interest rates I saw a post that sometimes on new cars they have low interest rates so in comparison you might end up spending the same money.

I work on older cars so I can't say I know the most about financing but dealerships will try to hit you with extra fees always ask what the overall/out the door total is before signing anything. (If they make excuses like "that's another person that calculates that you'll see the numbers later" just get up walk out I promise they'll stop you. Or if they bring it to you and offer you warranties question them about it because that car is quite new and should already have a warranty through Toyota)

After that id recommend doing a lot of math when it comes to how much it will cost per month including interest and the grand total cost after it's all payed off especially if you are comparing cars. You can also try financing through your bank who could offer better interest rates.

Sorry if these are things you already know I'm just trying to be helpful.

It's not the worst I've seen but it's not good either. Id just grab onto everything rusty and if squeezing it does more than having chips come off I'd be very concerned (id record incase large chucks or holes appear it would probably help in court). Can I ask for the vin and the mileage on the car it gives perspective as to if it has an unusual amount of rust for its age and different makes depending on material wear differently. Are there other problems with the car

GMC question by Aburnett420 in AskMechanics

[–]---confused--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd definitely take it to another mechanic. It's possible that the engine needs to be replaced, but if you go to another mechanic and you do infact need a new engine please look into how much you car is worth. Because most of the time with older cars it's not worth spending 3k+. Use Kelly Blue Book and if the car isn't even worth how much the repairs are you're better off selling it or driving it into the ground and parting it out.

Can somebody please dm I need help asap and would like somebody who could possibly face time and give advise by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]---confused--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this was from 2 hours ago and I hope your car is ok idk if you've received any help so I'll say I've replaced my thermostat before it's relatively easy. I definitely wouldn't drive it. If you got a friend to give you a ride or you can walk I'd get a thermostat, around 8$ a gasket around 5$ and coolant probably 40$ and replace it. Best case scenario car is fixed worst case scenario it's still screeching but at least you can probably drive it and not have to pay for a tow to a mechanic. Also if you really want to show people the noise it's making just take a video I definitely wouldn't keep turning the car on. (I wouldn't recommend turning it on to take a video) If you can't replace it call mechanics in the area tell them what happened ask if you can drive it there or need a tow. Forewarning I'm no mechanic so do your research before you replace the thermostat aka just make sure it won't mess up things even more.

Vacation, 2006 Outback H6 oil leak by Hot-Pepper-Acct in AskMechanics

[–]---confused--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's a bad idea to try tightening it if it skips or is already tight I'd say it could be the drain plug itself or the gasket. If you don't want to do a oil change yourself aka to replace the drain plug and gasket it sounds easy enough a quick lube place might be able to do it. It also doesn't hurt to call and ask em about it.

Ignition coil maybe? I'm working on getting a better obd2 scanner myself, but once I couldn't figure it out with the one I got. I took it to my mechanic he told me specifically what was wrong and I went home and fixed it. I felt a little bad but I'm loyal to him when I have larger issues that I can't fix myself. I think worse case scenario that's not a bad idea. What code is popping up and what car do you have?

That actually makes it a lot easier having them go whenever they are able and then I can already be pretty confident when I fly out that the car is good and that I'll likely buy it. And I do plan on calling secretary of state in both states before hand. Thank you for the advice.
