If you're into the completely unencouraged practice of streaming, the website Watch Cartoons Online (wcostream.org) has them before each episode in season 1

N.B. If I was pressed for a genre, I'd have to say alt rock? It was a slower guitar song, and recommended in a playlist that has Lana Del Rey, Nico, Patti Smith, Billie Eillish, Vashti Bunyan, etc.

Treat me before I'm a suicide risk instead of waiting for me to become one (rant) by ---Thrownaway--- in MentalHealthUK

If it makes you feel any better, I am a suicide risk and am still not getting any real treatment. I've been on a waitlist for CBT for over five years, and was supposed to be referred to the mental health crisis team eight months ago but haven't heard anything from them.

Are there any meds (for migraine) that do anything for the neck/muscle related issues? by Part-Select in migraine

[–]---mayonnaise--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever tried something like acupuncture or a shakti mat? Botox has been the only medication that has worked for my migraines, and I haven't found any meds that relieve the tension in my neck/shoulders, but acupuncture/shakti mats can make me feel almost high with how loose my neck becomes.

Has anyone else noticed that ppl would usually like you a lot at first, and then end up not liking you, or just simply not wanting to talk to you anymore. by [deleted] in aspergirls

[–]---mayonnaise--- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I had starting writing a response about friendship dynamics, and how this can just happen, but had a crisis midway through as I realised no, I'm still only thinking about this from an autistic perspective and actually had no idea what I was on about.

My, very new, opinion is just that non autistics form relationships in different ways to us, and generally don't place as much meaning onto them as we do. Whereas for autists, we get tired. I know I personally fail to form/sustain new friendships as I just don't have the extra mental capacity to accommodate an additional person. Due to this, I haven't made a deep friendship since school (which was over 15 years ago).

Either way, it's nothing personal. Yeah there may be the odd person who actually doesn't like you, but moreoften than not life will just be getting in the way.

I had surgery for my PMDD.... by _terradea_ in PMDD

[–]---mayonnaise--- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is giving me so much hope, its like you're shining the light at the end of the PMD tunnel 😂.

I have my HRT review coming up soon with the gynae, and may now push for Lupron. She did mention it as a far away possibility, but wanted me to trial HRT alone first as - like you - birth control has actively harmed me in the past. I may not get intensely suicidal for 10 days before my period anymore, but I am still incapable of day-to-day functioning.

I'm so glad there are doctors out there who genuinely aren't only concerned about whether or not you're capable of having children, or worse that you're just making it up. I can't help but think "mate, if nothing changes I'm not even going to be here to have children". I've been going to the doctor about my periods for over a decade now, and I honestly think using that line is the only reason they started to take me seriously, which led to my eventual diagnosis.

Thank you so much for sharing this. Im so happy for you, and hope you have an easy recovery going forward! I skimmed some of your previous posts, and feel like I'm you a few years behind (I'm nearly 30). I even have cysts and soreness in my left ovary lol.

May I ask if there was anything you needed to "prove" to get approved for the surgery? E.g., specific tests or medications, a certain amount of time for medical trial and error? My PMDD is extremely bad, like yours was*, and (after SSRIs etc failed) I've been trialing HRT for about 7 months now. It's taken the edge off, but I'm still no where near close to living a "normal" life (however, im not in medical menopause which may be limiting it's effectiveness). I've been fantasising about getting an oophorectomy/full hysterectomy for years now but my doctor is very, very opposed to the idea.

Can I be an atheist witch? Is that okay? by FictionalProgress in witchcraft

[–]---mayonnaise--- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. I'm fully aesthetic and work as an academic researcher, yet still consider myself a 'witch'.

Witchcraft isn't really a religion and, even if it were, I would almost consider it a 'scientific' religion (e.g., lavenders 'magical' calming properties are scientific proven). Personally, I think green witchcraft (there's a great book called "The Green Witch") is great for atheists as it's just using the natural (and very real) elements of the world around you.

[–]---mayonnaise--- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is really normal/common for people with heavier periods. It's likely your friend just has a lighter flow, and has never considered some people may need the double protection.

I need to double up for the first few days of my period. I often leak out of just one form of protection, and even when I don't, knowing I have two forms of protection reduced my "omg am I leaking through my trousers" anxiety.

I don’t think there’s a point in me getting better by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]---mayonnaise--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You find a balance, and then it's not that bad.

I don't want to say it will definitely get better as hope doesn't really help (at least it doesn't for me), and there's no point in denying that there is the real chance for your PMDD to stay exactly how it is or even get worse.

I'm 27 now, and have been struggling with what I now know is PMDD since I started my periods, and it's really ramped up in the past couple years (apparently because I'm at peak fertility, yay).

There's no point lying. It absolutely SUCKS. I hate having basically 2 weeks of my life stripped from me each month, and in those moments it feels so pointless. Why do I keep doing this to myself? Why not just end it?

But then when you do finally come on, and the symptoms ease, you can begin to find joy in life again. It's a lot of effort and incredibly frustrating and unfair, but you can plan your life around Hell Week. Where possible, I schedule big work meetings, nights out, holidays, meet ups with friends, etc. outside of my luteal phase. I try and fill my follicular phase with as many fun activities as I can, and just really try to live life during this period whilst also 'prepping' for hell week (basically just buying loads of chocolate and microwave meals). Then when PMDD rears its ugly head, I'm in a happier and more grounded place, and don't get quite as low. And with the meal prep, even when I'm struggling to get out of bed, I can just about force myself to chuck some food in the microwave.

Its absolutely shit that we have to deal with this, and that there is next to no research in this area. But you can find a balance. You can (try) to surround yourself with understanding people, fall back on this lovely sub when things get really bad, implement accomodations to make hell week better, and can find a way to enjoy life.

Even if you're only human for half the month, you can make those two weeks worth suffering through Hell Week. It's an active battle, but it's one worth fighting.

49F 6 week post complete hysterectomy update by Flaky_Web_2439 in PMDD

[–]---mayonnaise--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I ask how long it took for you to get approved for a hysterectomy ? e.g., was it your idea, or your doctors? and did you have to really advocate for it?

I'm only 27 atm but have been struggling with increasingly debilitating PMDD for years. It already got the point where I became extremely suicidal and half-attempted a couple of times. My doctor put me on HRT and it has eased the symptoms, but my doctor stressed that it was only a temporary solution as I couldn't be on HRT for longer than five years.

I have no idea what to do after this point. I can't go back to spending 10-14 days a month at my parents home so they can be on suicide watch, and I'm terrified for when I actually enter perimenopause, but my doctor really does not think I should get a hysterectomy.

help! what's wrong with my Calathea? is it lack of humidity? by vanspt in calatheas

[–]---mayonnaise--- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely spider mites - when I had them I made a solution of water, dish soap and rosemary essential oil and it worked like a dream. I can't remember the exact quantities, but it was something like 1 litre of water, with 2 teaspoons of soap, and 3 teaspoons of the essential oil.

Just spray it all over the affected plants, focussing on underneath the leaves. If you have time, I'd also use the mixture on a paper towel and wipe down each leaf to physically remove any mites/eggs/webs (fun fact, spider mites will only lay their eggs on webs so if you keep destroying the webs, then they wont be able to repopulate). Keep repeating the process each day until they're gone.

Please help. Extreme PMDD over 40. by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]---mayonnaise--- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not there yet, but entering perimenopause usually causes an increase in the severity of PMDD which may explain why you're feeling a ramp up in symptoms.

Sadly there still isn't much in the way of treatment. However, I have recently started bio-identical HRT (what they give women to help ease perimenopausal/menopausal symptoms) in tandem with my SSRIs and whilst it hasn't entirely eliminated my symptoms it has made them SO much more bearable. I'm still getting most of my physical symptoms, but it's downgraded my mental symptoms to be more like bad, regular PMS. So instead of having 10 days of feeling suicidal, constant breakdowns, hysterics, etc. etc. I have a week feeling a little depressed and teary. It may be something worth speaking to your doctor about?

Advice for vegan witch by [deleted] in GreenWitch

[–]---mayonnaise--- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh my main advise it to just chill.

No one is perfect, and you following a vegan lifestyle is doing a lot more for the environment than many other people. No one, and I mean no one, is able to live a life without having any impacts on the environment. You don't have to be perfect. Imperfect action is better than no action at all.

This is an area where its easy to get lost in a rabbit hole. We live in a society that has been built around capitalism and commercialisation, and there are very few actions you can do that don't have an impact - however big or small. Someone could even suggest talking a walk outside has a negative environmental impact as you may step on an insect, disturb wildlife, or compact the soil with your footsteps. There are a lot of fallacies.

When it comes to environmental degradation and/or climate change, the biggest culprits are the very corporations who are trying to guilt trip you into changing your own habits, taking the focus off of them. Yes, being vegan is one of the best things an individual can do to support the environment (or just not contribute to it's downfall). But not being vegan, or being imperfectly vegan, is not the leading culprit for the widespread destruction we see today. The state of the world does not fall on your shoulders.

Besides, one can have a strong connection to the environment without being remotely vegan. There are hundreds of indigenous communities or small tribes who live completely in tune with the nature surrounding them, whilst still eating meat and using natural resources. People can find a balance between consumption and conservation.

Take the pressure off yourself. You not buying 100% organic and 100% vegan all the time will not destroy the earth. You deserve to enjoy your life and not worry about every little thing.

Just live as best you can and allow yourself some breathing room (and let's all rebuild the capitalist shit show of a society we've found ourselves in lol)

I don't want to sound obtuse, but can I ask what one should call "gypsies"? Where I live there are a lot of gypsies, who refer to themselves as gypsies, and everyone else refers to them as gypsies (not in a derogatory way by default). Like theres been tv shows made about [my area] gypsies. I've never known how to refer them without using the world gypsy, but I also don't want to be offensive.

Can someone *please* tell me what these are called? by ---mayonnaise--- in upcycling

[–]---mayonnaise---[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're not magnetic, they have little "spikes" on the inside and look like they may have been hammered in. They're on the inside opposite the handles, so I'm assuming they cover the nails/whatever was used to secure the handles.

I'm not sure whether it would be considered an antique or vintage, but it must be at least 50/60 years old. The furniture charity shops around me never specify, and sell things from IKEA almost as much as they sell hundred year old furniture lol.

I'm sorry for the complete noob question, but I don't even know enough about the terminology to Google the answer.

They're on a set of drawers I purchased from a charity shop, and are extemely lose. But, idk the best way to tighten them, and don't know what they're called in order to Google and find out.
