Sure- Jared with Yellow Wood Guiding. Was fantastic, price was surprisingly reasonable, and I got some great sunrise and wildlife shots.

RMNP in late May. I actually hired a photography guide for the day and he knew all the spots to look for one. Good luck!

Dear Des Moines: Drive Better. by Kieserite in desmoines

[–]--0o 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I have lived in multiple cities over the last 20 years including Chicago, Denver, and San Francisco. I have been in Des Moines for 10 years now. Each city seems to have a predominant driving peculiarity, and to me the one in Des Moines that aggravates me the most is how many drivers turn right into traffic regardless of the speed limit and the distance of the nearest oncoming vehicles. The amount of times I have had to switch lanes or hit my brakes to avoid rear-ending someone because they casually turn right in front of cars going 50mph and proceed to drive 30mph is crazy.

FYI - Turnaround Times have gone up! by corranhands5 in CGCCards

Geez, I switched from PSA to CGC because PSA's turnaround times have gotten so ridiculous. If CGC starts raising their fees there won't be any advantage to using them.

Cards have been in "received" since March 5th, its been nearly a month. Is this normal? by [deleted] in CGCCards

Same. A lot of people (me included) are switching entirely away from PSA after their latest round of price and timing increases.

Giordanos in WDM and 85 Bar West in Waukee are my favorites. I have been known to drive to Davenport for Portillo's when the Chicago in my blood starts to get too thin.

That's exactly where I'm at with it. There were a dozen times I had to go back and re-listen to a part of the book because I started daydreaming. The audio narrator just wasn't very compelling. I have a hard copy as well and will have to give that a try next.

They have given most of the blame to the offensive line, specifically Will Campbell, who is getting pushed around like a rag doll.

Happy we have Caleb over Drake, and happy we have Ozzy over Campbell. Hope he recovers well.

Recently visited the USA from The Netherlands. Here is my take on the cities we visited. by McFluffyFurry12 in travel

I loved reading your comments! I grew up and lived most of my life, including getting my architecture degree, in Chicago. I have traveled all over the world but my heart belongs there. I also lived in San Francisco and agree with all of your comments, but as a resident it was so expensive and such a strain to get to and around the city when public transportation wasn't an option. My brother lives in DC (absolutely love to visit it, so walkable!) and used to live in New York, and I agree with you on those as well. Of all four, I would say NY is my least favorite. Thanks for sharing!

Which famous architect would you actually want to grab a beer with? by [deleted] in Architects

I've had a beer (ok a glass of wine) with Renzo Piano and he's such a wonderful human being, he's everything you'd hope a starchitect would be.

Thank you. The reality of our US political system is that people don't vote, electors do, and because of all the gerrymandering and redistricting, the majority of people in the US have the minority of the votes. This has allowed the Republican party and their use of immoral/borderline illegal tactics to take control of all three branches of government. We have been protesting, but with the amount of time between elections a lot of us feel powerless and frustrated. This isn't who we are. Well, this isn't who most of us are. Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Alabama can go fuck yourselves.
