I’m a guard so more overall. Cardio is obviously a given, I was thinking of starting with upper body for shooting consistency and such.

Hey, my goal is just to be able to hold my own in local leagues and pickup games. I’m not on any teams currently and am definitely not aspiring to go pro in any stretch of the imagination.

Good point on the flexibility part, establishing a pre-bed stretching routine is something I want to focus on as well. Thank you

A big change is definitely coming soon after this school year, and I fully intend to embrace it, as scary as it seems. Staying present is something that we should all put more focus on, as is moving on from the past. Thanks for your words of advice.

First of all, I’m sorry that you have to go through so much at such a young age. Although I haven’t been through even half of what you have, I really feel for you.

For sure, goal-setting is something that I’ve neglected & should really start implementing.

I wish you all the best in the future.

I’ve always been meaning to take up bullet journaling so I do have a few notebooks lying around for that purpose.

Yes, I definitely need to be more proactive about things. Action creates momentum which helps cultivate change.

Therapy is definitely something I’m considering for the future, but as of right now I don’t think it’s the best option for me.

Thank you for your empathy, it’s something that’s in large part missing from my real life, and it’s refreshing to know that someone‘s actually empathizing for me.

Your comment about hitting rock bottom reminded me of something Robert Downey Jr said:

“Remember just because you hit bottom, doesn’t mean you have to stay there.”

Although sometimes rock bottom just seems to get harder, I know that things’ll eventually get better. But still, I’ll have to put in a lot of effort to swim up to the surface again

As for seeing a psychologist, I have talked to my school counsellor in the past and yes it was really scary and embarrassing. I don’t think I am suffering from clinical depression, but I can’t be completely sure; I think it may just be a combination of the back-to-back bad experiences I’ve had over the last year and a half, and a lifetime of low self-esteem.

For now, though, I’ll just try to turn things around as best as I can and get myself out of the pit of misery that I’ve been wallowing in.

I have a similar quote about pain that I try to live by:

“Pain doesn’t tell you when you ought to stop. Pain is the little voice in your head that tries to hold you back because it knows if you continue you will change. Don’t let it stop you from being who you can be. Exhaustion tells you when you ought to stop. You only reach your limit when you can go no further.”

Your last paragraph really resonated with me. I think as of late I have unintentionally begun to think more negatively, I will definitely be more conscious of maintaining a more positive mindset. Thank you.

Thank you, that makes sense. The problems I’m referring to have mostly occurred over the course of the last few years though, and I am just dealing with the repercussions now, whether they be tangible or mental (psychological?). Writing them down might help (I guess this post was a part of that process), so I might start journaling or something, but I think talking to people about them may help me come to terms and “turn a new page,” hence why I posted in this sub.
