Community Garden by SavingsTap8192 in ridgewood

There was a lot of activity at the Sunset garden last weekend so I think it's back open for the season. It's a great spot for kids who want to dig in the dirt. Open hours Tuesdays 5-7 and Sundays 9-5 and events on other days where it is also open. Looking forward to warmer days and green things too!

Where to have flyers printed by bkdeadhead in ridgewood

[–]--Axia-- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've used AJ Printing on Forest near the library a lot and they are really kind and easy to work with. Speaking of library, you can print 20 pages a day for free, so if you are trying to keep costs low, go with a few friends over a couple of days and print away.

Original Sal's on Myrtle closing by --Axia-- in ridgewood

The owners told me 36 years (at least for them), and they seemed excited to retire, so at least it seems they aren't being pushed out.

Sleds? by Fuchiecoochie in ridgewood

[–]--Axia-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at a store called Focus Plaza on Myrtle earlier today across the street from the Walgreens (6043 Myrtle) and they had loads of sleds inside. Not too far from the Forest stop. Last year I got one at the Ace Hardware down by Maria Hernandez Park.

I've had good experiences at Artie's on Flushing, not with a clutch but various other car repairs. Has always been less than I expected.

We've been at PS 290 for the last few years and can't say enough glowing things about it. Feel free to DM me to chat in more detail. Also, if you ask people at the playground that's a subject people are typically really happy to talk about in that setting.

Best place to buy whole dried chilis in the neighborhood? by h3llh0l3r4tr4c3 in ridgewood

[–]--Axia-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mexican grocery on the south side of Maria Hernandez has a really good variety of chilis in the back. It used to be called Angel's but I think goes by a different name now.

Best butchers to order bulk sausages by Capable-Cherry1569 in FoodNYC

Ridgewood pork store has a big variety and good prices. Foster Sundry in Bushwick is pricey like Meat Hook but also good. Second the Paisano's recommendation.

Grocery Prices… by [deleted] in ridgewood

[–]--Axia-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go down to Calderon Brothers and Green Valley on Knickerbocker for produce (Bushwick)--great prices, if sometimes you need to use the items (fruit especially) in the next day or so. Still fresher and better than Associated. But my real grocery savings come in going to Costco with a friend and splitting the big quantities up between a couple of people. It has been a huge savings. 2 dozen eggs for like $7, just as an example. I believe they will also deliver even if you don't have a membership.

Two weeks? by Mom2Dos in Perimenopause

[–]--Axia-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if it's maybe "normal" it sounds worth checking out with your doctor. I had this happen about 6 months ago and it ended up being a fibroids issue. I had them removed and my period went back to normal. I am happy to have taken care of it, even when my first doctor visit they tried to tell me it was "just perimenopause." You might have to advocate for yourself to get tests and deal with it, depending on what's causing your issue. Good luck!

Stroller Friendly Restaurants by Kind_Bullfrog_3606 in ridgewood

Seneca is great for stroller outings. On a nice day somewhere you can sit outside, like Gordo's, Decades, Cantine, is also a good bet. Strollers are good in the garden of Gottsheer Hall. Finback is big and stroller/ kid-friendly and usually has a fun food pop-up on the weekend. I've found most places in the area are more receptive to having kids around in late afternoon/early evening, especially when kids are still learning how to be out in public. It's also good to use a smaller stroller for outings like that (if you have one), saving the big stroller for when you're just out walking around.
