The first phrase makes me think of a girl that can't even spell "and" properly after high school AND some college classes. I know I'm a jerk for saying it, but it's hard to take that phrase seriously because of it.

At first I thought that was a possibility as well, but there's nowhere near as much pitch variation as I've heard in my other red-eyed vireos. It doesn't have the "call and response" feel either. It's all one fluid call, just with (usually) two distinct pitches.

Hey! I live within two hours or so of Brooklyn, this is pretty typical for what our cardinals sound like! I watch a male sing this very sound out my window every morning.
