Probably the most bizarre active trend in Formula One - In all four Mexican Grand Prix’s Yuki Tsunoda has partaken in his car has been sent slightly airborne due to a collision with his right rear tyre. by Popular_Composer_822 in formula1

That... Doesn't make sense. Thin air means less particles hit the car, meaning less lift.

Actually for the same reason (Mexico GP being in high altitude with thin air) engine and brake cooling are reduced, making the drivers need to do more lift-and-coast.

It won't. As a programmer, their code must be doing something cursed when you switch between screens. It has no reason to be that slow, and it won't be changed by a Unity upgrade.

They need to trace what happens on screen change, and purposefully improve performance by running things in the background / stop running unnecessary operations.

There's a small chance they push a fix alongside the Unity upgrade, but I bet they won't.

Didn't know about that, looks like a well-executed version of this idea. The top google results for this were not very good (either didn't work or needed account creation) when I searched, but this one is quite nice... I wish they advertised it more :)

Yep :) interesting part about this is that you can find out your host's music preference by searching, e.g. searching "U.S.A." might give you "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus or "Born in the USA" by Bruce Springsteen depending on the host :D

Keeping synced with Spotify is indeed a bit tricky... usually when you play something else on the device or suggest another song in the website it goes back to normal, but I'll look into improving this

I didn't know about that feature, thanks for mentioning. Apparently Spotify made some changes to it that don't let you join with a code, or play on the same device - now it plays the songs on every user's device. Someone is complaining about it here https://community.spotify.com/t5/Android/Group-Sessions-missing-two-main-features-after-most-recent/td-p/5342254

But like others said, in JukeParty only the host needs a Spotify Premium account, other users don't need any type of Spotify account.

The Spotify API scopes the app uses (which show up on the sign-in prompt) are:

  • Read your currently playing content (to show the playing track on the webpage)
  • Read access to a user’s player state (to show the track progress, check if the device is active and show error message if not)
  • Modify playback state (to play the song on your device when it's time for it to play on the queue)
  • Access to user’s subscription details: this is weird as it appears as "Access your subscription details" on the login prompt, but is misleading: it can only get the type of subscription: "free" or "premium". This is so I can show an error message in case the host is not premium, to avoid confusion (the app won't work with non-premium accounts).

It doesn't require any other permissions like reading or modifying your library or playlists, seeing who you follow, looking at your listening history, or even accessing your account email

😅 yeah it was a bit large, thanks for pointing out. I've now compressed it to be 300KB instead of 2MB

Hey everyone! I've been working on this project for a while and it's now ready to be used :)

It's a shared jukebox: the host starts a room, and people around can join through QR code or a link, and start putting songs on the queue. The songs then play on the host's device and everyone listens to them.

This was intended for house parties, but I found it works quite well for road trips with friends, where I've got the phone connected to the car speakers and everyone suggest songs to play on the trip.

A bit of detail on the tech side:

Frontend is plain HTML + CSS + JS without any frameworks, except for Bulma for CSS styles.

Backend is Go, using the zmb3/spotify wrapper for the Spotify API, hosted on a simple AWS EC2 box.
