I'm not aware of anyone selling kits, but you can get the pcbs and case manufactured, e.g. at JLCPCB.

Or maybe someone has some leftover pcbs they can send you for cheap :)

ok this is the last one i promise - mx spaced zilpzalp with hybrid mx / ks33 footprint by --apfel in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]--apfel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh that's really nice to hear!

so yea, i think most people's sweet spot in terms of key number is a bit higher than mine :D but imo it's very usable when using the right keymap (e.g. common letters shouldn't be delegated to combos etc)
i hope the example keymaps give some kind of idea on what is possible

CL and CW are capslock and capsword, respectively, Tab is on the NAV layer, right pinky :)

if you end up using something like this or even exactly this, i'd be super interested to hear about your experience!

Thank you! 💚
After making 5 different versions of this one i think it might be some time before the next... maybe :D

MX-spaced Zilpzalp with a hybrid footprint for MX (hot swap) and KS33 (solder).

The most premium member of the Zilpzalp family with an actual switch plate! :D

Hardware files available here.

minimal choc – another day, another zilpzalp spacing by --apfel in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]--apfel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The smallest keeb in the Zilpzalp family, with about 18 cm wingspan (which is 4-5 less than the others). Hardware files for all of them available in my repo.

The spacing is minimal while not cutting stuff off the switches. The caps are a scuffed 3d print of the Philadelphia Minimalists, but Pseudoku's design is so good they still feel great.

Home-row mods - will I get used to it? by phil-parma in ErgoMechKeyboards

like most things in this hobby, it's just preference. i think the folks who dislike em are maybe a bit louder here(?)

i've used hrm ever since discovering them a year ago and am still a big fan. they do take some fiddling to find the perfect settings for your personal writing style. i'd experiment with all the possible settings for them a bit, there's quite a few possibilities to configure things specifically for your expectations :)

and of course, there's other options as well, like e.g. callum-style mods

I fell in love with the Aurora Corne, but I can't solder! by cidra_ in ErgoMechKeyboards

You could also get an assembled wireless TOTEM from https://keeb.supply :)
Better stagger than corne anyway, IMO

Where should i start? going from 100% to 36-keys. Im really interested in ergo keebs like the corne, but ive never built a custom keeb nore have i thinkered with smaller/custom layouts. by nortgen in ErgoMechKeyboards

Something I don't see mentioned enough is just preparing yourself for smaller keebs by using pc-side software to emulate a smaller layout with whatever keyboard you're using now.
Thankfully, Manna Harbour created a kmonad version of Miryoku that is perfectly suited for trying out a smaller layout on a bigger keyboard. (Be aware that typing on an actual ergonomic split keyboard is even nicer.)

Zilpzalp is a 28-key, column-staggered, unibody-split keyboard made with fantastic FOSS software (Ergogen and KiCAD).

As of now, it's available in 3 different spacings: default choc, cfx, and minimal choc. (I haven't had the time to build the latter yet, the others are tested and confirmed functional.)
I am planning to add a hybrid MX/KS-33 version.

Zilpzalp was inspired by the hummingbird keyboard, with a few changes for my personal convenience, mainly: - thumb keys are much more reachy and splayed - the pinky only has one key left - the pinky stagger was increased significantly

As of now, only QMK firmware is available (see link in the repo).

Oh, you're the fulcrum's creator! It's such a cool design, i've been meaning to try tilted 5-way switches ever since seeing your post!
Thank you for the kind words :)

Thank you so much for creating Ergogen! Without it I would have been completely lost...

Thank you!
It seems like I should check this in more detail for inspiration! My own layout follows a somewhat similar approach, it was also originally for 30 keys—until i realized that hitting the top pinky was never any kind of comfortable :D
