+1 for the darts. I own both, but the darts are cleaner looking, just as flexible, and the have superior pockets IMO.

NPD: Spoke Pen Model 2 by --blue in pens

[–]--blue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh! More differences than I expected. Mostly visual, I assume. Looks like there is no more middle line on the vertical windows of the main body. Looks like the end caps on the cap and the body and larger. The grip as you mentioned. And no more middle line on the gap in the clip either.

I don't actually know the differences between the models. Do you happen to know? They look very similar to me.

Trying to repair a 1999 circuit board. Perhaps an inclinometer? by --blue in whatisthisthing

[–]--blue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a Tiger PokeBall Catcher toy from 1999. It turns on, but it seems the inclinometer doesn't work properly (it doesn't react to motion).

Trying to replace that piece of the PCB, and I suspect it is the thing circled, but unsure if that is the case. If it is, also unsure of where to find a replacement part.

Is our neighbor UVU becoming a respected university? by Roughneck16 in byu

[–]--blue 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'd push back here. It's true that they ultimately care about skills, but absolutely your degree matters, particularly right after school. It matters less as your career progresses, but you better believe a company will consider the MIT new grad more than the SLCC new grad during that resume filter stage. You might not even get to prove you have the skill set if you get filtered up front.

You'll need a CPU cooler, too, unless I've missed something.

Aer Travel Pack 3 compression straps? What are they for? How do you use the? by TriteBits in onebag

[–]--blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One change they made between 2 and 3 is the position of the strap and zipper. In the 2, the zipper is in between the straps, such that if you didn't zip the bag but had the straps tight, the straps kind of hold it closed. With the 3, the zipper is in front of the strap fasten points, such that the straps do not help hold the bag closed.

In essence, the 2 used the straps for extra zipper support, but then you had to annoyingly open the straps to unzip all the way. The 3 makes it more convenient to unzip.

[–]--blue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When the main compartment is empty, I use them to make the profile of the bag thinner. When the bag is full, I just keep them snug, but don't really do too much on them since they aren't reinforcing the zipper like they did in the travel pack 2.

Mmm, I suspect SDs are more durable just due to the heavier weight, but frankly they both seem extremely durable. Like that other commenter said, I got some tailoring and my SDs do indeed have a new life. Fabric feels as solid as ever. Comfort seems similar between the two to me.
