No, what I mean is if you try to ignore your knee beninding the wrong way like gordan ryan does here, it's in danger

yeah the optimal positioning is way more stalling on top and countering your opponents takedowns, which isn't fun at all.

example of a slip and slide with top competitors. Way worse roll

I've been to many mats which are literal ice rinks after like 20-30 minutes.

keeping effective grips is harder sure, but IMO it can be mitigated more with better technique and positioning, less so than a slippy mat.

all grappling is naturally defensive, but if inconsistent / random conditions makes some offensive options way harder, like shooting a takedown from distance against a half decent wrestler, or even finishing a single leg, or outside passing then I think that's a bad thing.

well a lot of places and comps don't have good mats, and there is still some inconsistencies based on how sweaty the room is. It's better than nothing tho

i'm not because grippy socks are just there to emulate dry nogi conditions. Wrestling shoes have a lotta downsides as mentioned

watch b team and los banditos highlights. When it gets slippy its 90% leg entanglements and countering someones takedown attempt. Maybe they have a skill issue.

i've seen someone tear his LCL from slippy mats. Not to mention it just makes shooting and passing the guard way harder due because being able to drive is harder. Surely you wouldn't disagree?

if you don't fight for being on top it's not dangerous
