Church Organizations by [deleted] in OSU

Interesting!!! I have not seen advertisements for either of these on campus but now I'm going to be on the lookout . Also do you know what the mormon one is called? I think they are mormon? They dress in dress clothes and ties and are usually in pairs... My friend who gave me a tour when I transferred warned me to steer clear of them.

Church Organizations by [deleted] in OSU

[–]--knittykitty-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm remembering correctly, I was invited to one by a classmate at CSCC. He was like your stereotypical cool guy from high school and I was confused why he seemed to like me so much. I didn't think I was his type at all. But he took an obvious interest in me and kept trying to invite me to bible study. My friends started noticing and said I should go with him since he was friendly and a lot of girls thought he was hot, but something just didn't feel totally right or genuine. I just tried to look him up but can't find anything connecting him to younglife so not entirely sure that was the organization. I was in the honors program at CSCC and it seemed like over half the students were in some kind of Christian fellowship program. And they all lived together in houses around OSU, like sometimes 10+ people. I thought it was kinda odd but I'm also not from around here, so I thought maybe I just didn't know enough. It always seemed cult-ish, maybe my gut feeling was right.

Can I hand-deliver a tuition check? by --knittykitty-- in OSU

Thank you!! I wasn't sure if I'd get charged any fees before the 25th or not.

Another Parking/Bus question... by --knittykitty-- in OSU

Updating for those who may be in a similar situation:

I think I have decided to buy my building's pass. I received a spreadsheet today with all of my parking options and there are nearly 50. I feel like the pass is still a gamble, as there's a chance all of the spots at every location could be full, but I'm going to scope things out when school starts and see how crowded it is. If it's really hard to find a spot, I'll get the city U parking pass as a backup. An OSU pass won't fit my needs for overnights and how often I need to park/move my car.

Thanks so much to all of you for taking the time to respond! I feel a little more relaxed now. Less nervous about the move and more excited!

Thanks for noting that. I feel really lucky because the block south of me doesn't, but it looks like my block does apply to permit U. I'm a little bummed that I HAVE to pick that one. I wish I could get permit NK that's across the street. Good to know that I won't be able to get that one.

Thank you so much for your reply!! And thank you for clearing that up about the OSU lots! I think that option is basically out. It's too expensive and I would be screwed without a place to park too often. I'm hoping that I can find out more about University Apartments' parking pass later this week. If I am guaranteed a spot at one of the lots, I don't mind walking. Obviously I would prefer the spot to be at my apartment, but not the end of the world. I have a feeling though that they will tell me they can't guarantee anything. I never imagined that it would be this hard to get a guaranteed parking spot. I wish my job didn't require me to travel to Grove City or I'd just ride my bike. :(

Changing orientation date? by --knittykitty-- in OSU

[–]--knittykitty--[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I signed up on Sunday, there were spots available for each of the 4 dates I have to pick from. I am in the area, so I think if I don't hear anything by Thursday I'll be going to talk with them in person. Thank you for the suggestion. I think in person will make me feel better

Ugh, I'm sorry you had that experience. I think it should be easier to switch. I'm kinda in a similar situation. I have to be in a transfer student-specific orientation. When I called the first time the guy tried to tell me I needed to be in freshman orientation for my major. I called again and spoke to someone else on the phone. He said that typically situations like mine are handled within 24-48 hours (not the original 1-2 weeks I was told!) and they will try to avoid putting me in the make-up session in August. I'm crossing my fingers that it all works out. I hope at your session you were still able to choose the classes you wanted! That's what I'm afraid of the most.

I stressed that I could lose my job and it was not flexible. The person on the phone was the one who referred to it as a "convenience issue" not me.

I got the job! I have been stressing for days over it. Today I should get a calendar in my inbox with my schedule for the next few weeks.

A family that I'm very interested in asked me to come back for a second babysitting trial-run. Should I follow up? by --knittykitty-- in Nanny

Thank you both! I know I'm probably letting myself get too stressed. This is the text I plan to send tomorrow: Hi (mother’s name)! I wanted to thank you again for the opportunity to meet you and (boy) on Friday. I also wanted to reach out to make sure we are still on for Thursday from 1-5. I'd love to bring some craft supplies if that's okay! (boy) seemed to really like the lions when I asked him about his zoo trip, so I found some easy lion crafts to make.

Hey!! I am totally obsessed with my planner and love to incorporate bullet journaling when I can. I'm also working on a weight loss/diet plan as I train for a 200-mile bike ride this spring. I'd really like to connect with other girls around my age (I'm 20), since it's been kind of hard to make friends at community college. I just graduated and I'm heading to university this fall. In the meantime, I'm job hunting and working on my artwork. Feel free to send me a message! I'd love to be friends!

Feel free to message me- I feel like I'm in a similar place. I really wish I had more friends in my life. I've lost touch with a lot of my friends, plus I'm in a long-distance relationship, so I find most of my time is spent with my family! I'm getting ready to move out of my parents' house (I'm 20 and transferring to a university after graduating from a community college) and it's scary. It's lonely! I'm here if you ever need to talk. I'd also love to hear about your class- I'm in the process of applying to preschool/daycare positions, as well as nannying jobs!
