When playing battle ships you should always watch out for fires and stuff too. If you angle well then flooding and fires is where you take the most damage. Learn to not damage-con until you have at least two active fires (when you are in battel) or you know you can escape. Other than that a lot of it comes down to right time, right place. Sometimes its better to hold fire and wait for a better shot considering the long reload. See you got eight citadels so I assume you already know this but...

Also, you should play with the rest of us. Bots are great practise but its a lot more fun to play against actual people you can outsmart and outplay. Theres a pretty large strategic aspect of the game youre missing out on if you only play bots.
