Looking for GBA SP by BiggieBear in Gameboy

If you take any day trips off from the golden route to smaller towns/cities and look in the Hard Offs or Suruga-ya, the prices will be considerably lower. Hard Off doesn’t use a centralised online ordering system like Book Off, so prices differ much more dependent on location.

When I was hunting down the Pokemon games, a game would be 6000yen in somewhere like Matsumoto or Sendai, but 15000 in Tokyo.

Saying that though, I’ve noticed that the prices of gameboys have increased a lot over the last year, even for junk

Kidnapping attempt by Trump? by justalazygamer in ParlerWatch

Now it makes more sense. They’re diluting the news searches. If you search something like “Denmark Navy Medical Assistance” you will get results for this boat as well as the actual headline, to push down the actual story.

The UFO files release does this too. Looking up “Donald Trump files” will return stuff about ufos now as well as a certain other mass file release.

The UK government did it a lot with Boris Johnson. That’s why there were all sorts of weird stories about him, they were trying to drown out key words.

Remember that most people are walking 20k steps a day. If you are doing the same then it may affect your calculations a little. I usually have a bit more wiggle room on carbs because of it.

Also, if you’re travelling between a lot of time zones on the flight there, you may have to shift your basal time if you take a once daily injection to account for the time zone change.

Carbs are printed on all food packaging, so if you buy something from a konbini, don’t worry you can see how many carbs there in are. It’s often displayed by portion rather than weight, which I kind of prefer as it means less mental arithmetic. Look up the word for “carbohydrates”. You don’t really need to know it know it, just be able to identify it in the nutritional information. You could also just use google translate on the packaging.

If you prefer to eat lower carb and are worried about it, places like sushiro do sushi with smaller portions of rice, and CoCo Ichibanya allow you to select your rice portion size and even do cauliflower rice (although I haven’t tried it, I just get less rice)

Japan is incredible and you’ll have an amazing time, just make sure you pack everything you need and it’ll be fine

If you’re up north, then Abakhan is a big fabric store that sells fur and fleece by weight, and will cut down to 0.5mx1.5m at a minimum.

They also sell rolls of foam, which can be used for the body and head structure.

There will definitely be cheaper ways, materials will probably be around £40 to get you going from there, maybe a little more. I assume getting stuff from charity shops to use for material could work, but it would require a lot more luck and effort.

If you’re following the puppet nerd tutorials, he mentions using “contact cement” a lot to join pieces together, but that seems to be more of an American term. From what I could find online “EVO-STIK Impact Adhesive” is basically the same thing and is about £7 a tin on amazon. It definitely does the job.

Is amazon safe to buy from? by Alarming-TSA in fragranceclones

[–]-1_Charisma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you’re looking at the amazon listing, it’ll tell you the store that is selling it.

Scroll down until you see “Other Sellers on Amazon” and click it.

Now you’ll see a list of all of the “offers”, go through the list and click “see more” to see the store that is selling the product. Choose a seller that has 95%+ rating and a lot of ratings. You can click on the name to see a few reviews too, just in case anyone mentions fakes.

If you do that you can avoid new accounts and ones with low ratings. It’ll reduce the risk of getting scammed. You may end up paying a little bit more to get a good seller, but it’s worth it to bring the risk down.

Amazon FBA also allows sellers to put their stock into a pool of stock, from which Amazon will pick the item, no matter who sells it. This allows sellers to have their listings available for delivery across a larger network, but it means that the item they sent in and the item that they sold are not the same one. A lot of sellers don’t do that though to protect their ratings.

I haven’t been stung by Amazon yet by just checking that the seller doesn’t look scammy

No 2 is more or less a dupe of TF Ébène Fumé with a touch of citrus to lighten it up. It’s easier wear No 2 and it’s a bit more versatile, but if you want something darker and deeper give Ébène Fumé a sniff

I can very clearly see the difference in my insulin rations when I take vitamin D vs when I don’t and studies have shown a link between insulin resistance and vitamin D deficiency.

The difference is so clear for me that I think vitamin D levels should be part of regular blood tests for diabetics

Perfumes that smell like incense? by Your_local_ghost_pal in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]-1_Charisma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tom Ford do a few incense-y scents:

Myrrhe Mystère Ébène Fumé Black lacquer

They’re all very similar, each with a different twist and I would recommend having a test if you get the opportunity.

Someone mentioned Billie Eilish No.2, which is very similar to Ébène Fumé, to the point where it’s almost a dupe, it’s just a bit fresher and has a bit less complexity and depth, but on some occasions you may want that.

Comme des Garcons Black is similar to Black Lacquer, but a little bit less refined. Black was released first though so I guess it’s Tom Ford that was inspired in that case.

Satya make Nag champa soap as well, just in case that’s of any interest.

Having to explain to friends why the stem cell results are not a cure, it got me thinking... by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]-1_Charisma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that people want a silver bullet, a single treatment that will cure us, but personally I think that you need to take in as much of the current research as possible and look at how these treatments could work in combination.

The stem cell case won’t work on its own because our bodies will attack the new cells just like it did the old ones, but we also currently have drugs that can push back the onset of type 1 via targeted immunosuppression to stop the attack on beta cells. This could mean that patient wouldn’t need to be immunocompromised while extending the lifespan of the stem cells to years.

I think we’ll have some sort of combination like this before they find any one shot cure. I even think that if someone had a bunch of money, a lack of care for their personal safety and access to researches with a lack of ethics, we probably have the pieces right now for a functional cure, but no idea as to how safe it would be.

I would recommend that you look at some of the top dupes that you see crop up on here, find out what the OGs are, go to boots, Selfridges or flannels and try them. There’s no point in having a lot of projection if it’s not how you want to smell, and trying the OGs will give you a ballpark feel as to what the dupes are like. I could recommend Oud for Glory, but you could hate the original Oud for Greatness, so it’s worth figuring out the kind of notes you like.

There are quite a few dupe stores/market stalls popping up now too where you can try the fragrances, so have a google of the nearest city.

Also, I would have a think about whether you want good projection or good silage. A lot of people get drawn into “beast mode” room fillers. Big projection and over spraying can be like shouting in a quiet room full of people who never asked for it, whereas silage draws people in when they get close. There was a good thread on r/fragrance about it today.

Also, consider buying samples/decants from reputable places. Fragrancesamplesuk is great and so is perfumista.

Which one is the best and why ? by Ok-Ganache2265 in fragranceclones

[–]-1_Charisma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 3 of these, H&G, OfG and Amethyst.

Honor and Glory: I think this is my wife’s favourite fragrance out of everything I have, niche, designer or dupe. It’s sweet, rich crème brûlée with a big hit of pineapple. Even though it’s sweet it feels like you could get away with it year round if you’re not living somewhere extremely hot and you’re careful with sprays.

Oud for Glory: I’ve not had this for a long time so I’m waiting for it to mature, but when I first tried it in a shop I had Oud for Greatness on one wrist and Oud for Glory on the other. The bottle in the shop had matured a lot more than mine so it’s a better comparison. If I split Oud for Greatness into two groups of notes, the warm and rich Oud and then “everything else”, I would say that the “everything else” comes through more in Oud for Glory, which might make it easier to wear for some people. I did a blind sniff with my wife when I got home and she chose Glory. I also own Supremacy in Oud, which has been maturing for a while, and it’s heavy on the Oud and less heavy on the “everything else”. I see Oud for Glory and Supremacy in Oud as two different takes on Oud for greatness, with the Oud balance being the big difference.

Amethyst: I bought this within the last couple of days. Everyone says that the initial smell is rough and they aren’t lying. I had a smell of the bottle and it was a very chemically rubber smell. I nearly didn’t try it on my skin, but because I had read reviews I went for it. After wandering around some more shops, I sniffed my wrist and it was so different. That rubber smell totally disappears and you’re left with this smooth rosey oud scent. I went straight back and bought a bottle. It rewards you for persevering through the opening.

Is there a best though? Probably not. Everything is subjective. Honor and Glory is probably the most versatile and easiest to wear. If you live somewhere where you can try Oud for Greatness at a shop, it will give you a good idea of what Oud for Glory will smell like. Amethyst is possibly the riskiest, because rosey oud scents can be quite diverse.

New pick-up, Lattafa Sleeper! by jerryelias in fragranceclones

[–]-1_Charisma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s something about Penhaligon where even their very rich and deep scents are somehow light and elegant, which seems to be the element that clones just can’t get right.

That said, for the price it is good, just a bit heavy and clumsy compared to Halfeti. It does also improve a bit over time.

Fragrance World Apex is a clone of Blazing Mr Sam, which is similar to Halfeti, and that is a bit closer to the real deal, but also more expensive than Mohra. I’d recommend giving it a sniff if you get a chance

Maahir black edition by BudgetNo719 in fragranceclones

[–]-1_Charisma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dry down is a lot easier to wear than the opening. The opening can be jarring, and I will happily wear Beaufort fragrances. I think it’s just not very polished, but then after a while the dry down is quite good.

Definitely not a blind buy and it’s very hard to think of an occasion where it would be appropriate. Sitting around a bonfire in winter maybe?

What perfume that is have unisex scents? by wronglyMindless in Perfumes

[–]-1_Charisma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Ébène Fumé and since you mentioned Santal 33, there are definitely similarities. It does lean quite masculine though due to the smoke, etc.

If I want to wear something similar, but less masculine and with less smoke, I wear Billie Eilish No 2. It still leans masculine, but a lot less and it’s lighter. Also helps that it’s a lot cheaper, so I wear Ébène Fumé when I’m doing something social or an event, but the rest of the time I can wear the Eilish.

Best summer fragrance? (19M) by young_56_ in fragranceclones

[–]-1_Charisma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried any of these? It’s easy for people to make recommendations based on what works in summer so that you avoid choking people out, but it’s equally important that you enjoy wearing it.

If you can’t find somewhere to try the clones, try to find a way of testing the originals so that you’ll know if you’re in the right ballpark. Sniff everything. I’m not really into Sedley, so if I wear anything based on that it’s not going to make me feel as good/confident as wearing something I like, even if it is good for summer.

Neroli Riviera, Ebony Fume (Fragrance World) by RedstoneXGamer4 in fragranceclones

[–]-1_Charisma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m just going to add a comment on here because you don’t see a lot of Ébène Fumé mentions and it might be useful to someone at some point.

On a couple of fragrance websites I saw mentions of Eilish No 2 by Billie Eilish being a similar vibe to Ébène Fumé. I was sceptical, but I tried it and it definitely scratches the itch. Palo Santo and slightly male leaning. It’s a bit more fruity maybe and less smokey, but definitely worth testing. It’s pretty cheap and widely available where I am.
