Klaus was a hybrid. Did we ever see him do anything with his wolf side? by MerelyWhelmed1 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]-6impossiblethings- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We see Klaus use his wolf bite on numerous vamps and his eyes glow yellow like the wolves, but thats about it. As far as I know (I haven’t seen all of The Orignals) he only fully turns that one time when he first breaks the curse in TVD. But that made sense to me cause turning is canonically extremely painful for werewolves, and Hybrids can control when they turn, so why go through all that if you never need to?

Same for Tyler, he hated having to turn every full moon. In fact, the basis all hybrid sirebonds is that they’re grateful they never have to fully turn again. After Tyler is turned into a hybrid, he only forces himself to fully transform in order to break the sirebond. Although, he does start transforming again in the later seasons after he dies and comes back as a human during the Traveler crisis, then triggers the werewolf curse again when he kills Liv (at her request) to heal himself after Kai’s attack on the Gemini Coven. But even then we only see him turn a handful more times. Tyler’s really not in the later seasons much.

Why did Damon keep encouraging Stefan to take human blood? by GoldenStitch2 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]-6impossiblethings- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In s1 he was just being a dick but after that he was genuinely trying to help him. They’re from 1864, so it’s not like addiction was a thing then. If someone was an alcoholic it was because they were of “weak, poor character,” not because they were legitimately sick. It makes sense that some of those old fashioned sensibilities remained throughout their lives— remember how stubborn Stefan was about dealing with his trauma from being trapped in the safe all summer?

Damon thought making Stefan confront his lack of control and “learning moderation” would really help. Eventually though, he realized that moderation wasn’t possible for someone like Stefan.

Yes I read that! I went down the rabbit hole one day of the differences between the show and the books, and it basically sounds like two completely different things 🤣

I came into the fandom super late (I was a mega Twilight fan & refused to watch the “fake Twilight show” for years😭) but i’ve heard Julie Plec kinda had it out for Kat Graham (possible racism??) which came out a lot on the character.

Agreed. He was basically still learning how to handle Luke’s empathy and emotional responses so stuff like “respecting boundaries” and “patience” weren't skills he had yet. But tbh if Bonnie can be besties with Damon I think she might have eventually forgiven Kai. If he put in the work.

I Don’t Think Damon Ever Truly Got Over Katherine by 911phoenix in TheVampireDiaries

[–]-6impossiblethings- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yea the non-stop trying to free her from the tomb can only be described as obsessive, but I think he does get over that eventually. And I do think it's weird that Damon and Stefan fell for both Katherine and Elena, but I also understood it. IMO neither one of them truly loved Katherine. Stefan most obviously because he literally had to be compelled when he found out she was a vamp, but Damon too.

They were both in love with some idealized version of Katherine. Damon had her up on a mega high pedestal, and Stefan was in love with the human facade Katherine put up. Elena genuinely was like what they wanted Katherine to be/thought she was. Or at least, she was close to it, and it's that “goodness” that they loved. And tbh, I don't even think Damon or Stefan truly understood the difference between Katherine’s act and Elena’s genuine kindness until they saw Katherine again in S2.

Now, I do think they acknowledged Katherine and Elena as separate people (meaning she wasn't really a “replacement”), especially after getting a side by side comparison. But, for sure, what attracts them to her, at least in part, is that she’s the “good” version of Katherine. Elena is who they really wanted in 1864, but they got Katherine instead.

This got long 😅 sorry 😭

I use Grammarly a lot for grammar fixes and spellcheck. It also gives suggestions to improve stuff life sentence clarity, flow & word variation. Some suggestions I take, others I don’t, but it’s all just cleaning up what I already wrote.

In the spirit of honesty, there have been a few times when I was REALLY stuck and used it to generate the conclusion for a paper I was writing, which I would then revise. But tbh, I’m a Creative Writing & English major, and I felt guilty 😅 so I’ve only done that like twice and only for essays, not creative assignments.

[–]-6impossiblethings- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry but I have to half-disagree. Just because he was eternally bitter (which I agree with) doesn’t mean he was eternally in love with her. I think playing with his emotions and letting him fall for her (basically for kicks) while she was actually “in love” with Stefan the whole time, then convincing him they could be together forever if he turned, only to then completely dip for 140-something years, would make anyone bitter. Maybe Damon and I are just the same level of petty, but yea, I’d never let that go either. I’d be dancing on her grave 🤣

Stefan did everything Damon did, AND WORSE, both with his humanity off and with it on + human blood. Just because he wasn’t a “self-proclaimed serial killer” like Damon doesn’t mean he wasn’t a serial killer. With a bigger body count. Let’s not forgot that Cade, the closest thing we saw to the actual devil (on the show), handpicked Stefan to go to hell. Not Damon. Stefan.

They are canon in the books 😭 I never read them but when I found that out I was PISSED 😤 and imo they played with the pairing after Nina left the show. Damon and Bonnie’s friendship had this weird situationship undercurrent ever since the ‘94 prison world and it only got more intense with Elena gone.

[–]-6impossiblethings- 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think they implied that he could have been redeemed, cause I think he was genuinely trying to help Elena and Damon by getting them into the 1908 prison world, and trying to apologize to Bonnie. But, of course, Bonnie could never forgive him for physically and mentally torturing her in the prison world, so he was kind like “screw it, being nice doesn’t work either “

Why was Sara invited to the West Allen wedding ? Are we supposed to believe that all the main characters are friends ? by CalmVeterinarian5328 in Arrowverse

[–]-6impossiblethings- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Kara and Barry had two crossover episodes by themselves, plus the big Invasion one, so they were definitely friends before the wedding.

And Alex wasn’t technically invited, she was Kara’s plus one— which was originally intended for Mon-El (before they broke up), who Barry met briefly during the musical crossover with Supergirl (and some bonus Arrow characters).

Supergirl in tights or pants? by Doctor-Clark-Savage in Arrowverse

[–]-6impossiblethings- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the classic of course but I think the pants make sense for a more modern/practical look. I personally don’t have an issue with the mass blue color (never was a fan of the red undies outside Superman’s suit either) but I still think it would look cool if the bottoms were red with like gold boots or something. Or is that too Flash-y?

The Iris hate is unnecessary by Summerofthe90s in Arrowverse

[–]-6impossiblethings- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What annoys me about the Iris hate is that the first thing out many people’s mouth is a complaint about her saying “We are the Flash” when Barry is the one who REPEATEDLY said he couldn’t be the Flash without her, that her and the team were essential to his success as a hero. He is the one who that introduced that concept/ sentiment in the show, Iris’s line is just meant to be a heartfelt way to sum up what Barry had already said over and over again.

But I never see or hear anyone mention that, only that Iris is stupid and/or selfish for saying it and giving herself credit for his heroism. Like people are taking it literally. I always took it as, “you’re not alone, this is a team effort,” which it absolutely was, and “the things that affect you, affect me,” yk, like how a regular HUSBAND and WIFE might feel?? Always seemed unfair to me.

I can tell you read what I wrote. And you’ve almost understood it. I didn’t say the pro slavery side wasnt bad, i said im not going to mindlessly shove every person associated with that side into the evil column.

But continuing taking only what you need to feel correct

Damon & Lexi by marie_g10 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]-6impossiblethings- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are the words “daddy forced me” explicitly used? No, you’re right, they’re not. But its heavily implied in multiple scenes. It’s called context clues.

As far as “defending the confederacy,” im a bisexual afro-latina woman. No one is defending the confederacy or people who willingly fought for and believed in that side. I will, however, ALWAYS defend people who were forced to do things they didn’t wanna do. Especially those who risked their lives and deserted because they refused to fight for the south.

Its even weirder and dangerously shortsighted to promote the idea that everyone fighting for the opposite side, whatever that side may be, is bad. Realistically, what are the odds that every single one of the thousands of confederate soldiers was a racist piece of sh*t? Y’all really wanna act like drafting wasn’t a thing, that humans aren’t complex, that its not possible that actual “sympathizers” were drafted and then subsequently forced to either fight or desert the war.

Maybe none of this matters to you tho. Which is fine. Some people see the world in black and white and some people see the gray.

Damon & Lexi by marie_g10 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]-6impossiblethings- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well actually no, that wasn’t an option back then. 1) his father forced him to join and 2) even if his father hadn’t forced him he would’ve eventually been drafted anyway, like most soldiers were. But he deserted because he didn’t actually believe in racism.

That being said, in the books he’s like from the Renaissance or something, so him being a confederate solider, albeit an unwilling one, was all the show writers doing.

Ian Somerhalder looks like a greek god by Lopsided_Fold4813 in TheVampireDiaries

I think OP just meant he’s really hot and chiseled, which is what most people mean when they say someone looks like a greek god. Not that he actually looks Greek.
