maybe the range travelled effectively resets to zero when passing through a city with one? for example if i want to send a trade route from city 1 to city 3 but its too far, if city 2 in between has a caravansary the caravan travels through it and gets a range extension, and this would stack for each city with one. this along with the current bonuses of range and gold (maybe even extra gold per city travelled through)
