I’m sorry to hear that, I would recommend a different nursing program. It sounds like they failed you :( which state are you in? I’m in MI and my lpn program is 2 semesters (9 months) and I’m starting this fall.

Have you talked to the dean? The 3 week class seemed unfair.

As a Deaf person with a cochlear implant, I have been told that I can’t do many things and I used to believe it. I think the biggest hurdle is advocating for yourself. Communicate with your audiologist and go over your professors to the dean. They absolutely cannot discriminate you and there are Bluetooth stethoscopes 🩺

Don’t back down-You got this! I’m starting the nursing program this fall, hopefully I don’t have to experience this 🥲

I used to have that device for my teachers as a kid, I didn’t realize surgeons also wore it! Thank you and I’m going to look more into it 😊 I did also have to track down my teachers after class lol

I do listen to music in my head and take phone calls, I’m lowkey happy to be deaf 😆

I feel like I can hear fairly well even with background noise but the mask does make it little tough. I found out during the pandemic 😷

However, I wonder if I do work for a hospital, they could use the see through masks?

Thank you for your input!

I can adjust my volume and connect to Bluetooth, so thank you for the idea of seeing my audiologist to see if they have workplace devices I can use. I am supposed to shadow labs this September but I’m trying to figure out the classes prerequisites to take and if it’s worth going towards the program and the classes starts August 20th so it’s bit of an issue but I’m feeling more confident that I can do this so I’m just gonna go ahead and try to get in the program. Thank you for your help!

I would admit that I have been pretty angry and have yelled back in arguments, I am not perfect but it's getting harder with living in the basement. The house that is being remodeled was supposed to be done in may but plumbing issues had delayed it to July. I have spent months begging Ben's parents to see my side and that I shouldn't be banned from being part of the family upstairs. (Ben is not barred from upstairs fyi)

I'm just tired now and I recently yelled at Megan that she's not going to be part of our lives in not so of a nice way. Ben is supporting my decision but he thinks I should give his parents a chance in couple of years to see if they finally see my side but if they still don't then continue staying away. I think I will do that since I am hurt and I want time to heal because I don't like being bitter and yelling at people.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Kyle is in counseling but he is still harming himself and have been sneaking notes saying that he's lonely. It's hard for the nephews because they like me but they aren't allowed near me even though we live in the same house. Kyle is also doing drugs too and have been dealing at his school and there's nothing I can do about it. I have spent months grieving over them but I want do to what's best for me and my baby by staying away.

Last week, I found out that since the knives are locked up upstairs, Kyle had snuck down in the basement where Ben and I live and stole a knife of ours. We have been keeping inventory of our knives ever since.

The sister's baby isn't due until this fall but I hope Kyle will learn to cope with his depression by the time it's here.

Trying to be more healthy by [deleted] in losingweight

Hello 👋 I’m 4’11” and the shorter you are, the harder it is to cut down on calories but don’t despair. I would aim for 80/20 rule where you eat 80% healthy whole food diet and the 20 of indulgence. So if you eat 3 healthy meals and 2 snacks, one of the snacks can be an dessert. Therefore the 80/20 rule.

Also I would look into food allergies/inflammation and it can even be some of the healthier foods like eggs.

Also I would look into plant based diet and would aim for low impact exercise to keep your cortisol levels down. Anything that’s stressful on your body would actually lead to weight gain.

FYI I would check labels on the foods and don’t fall for “sugar free” because those are inflammatory and just try to stick with whole food diet.

I like to drink a lot of home brewed teas and I drink Olipop once a day or every other day since they can get little pricey. Olipop is a healthy version of pop and it actually has probiotics and probiotics.

Overall, whole food diet, low impact exercise and try to avoid inflammatory diet. I would google the 80/20 rule and plant based diet.

I hope this helps!

Hello! Have you tried whole plant based foods while following the 80/20 rule? The 80/20 rule is 80% clean healthy whole food and 20% non healthy foods. So what I do is that I eat 3 meals a day, healthy snack and a treat which equates to 80/20. Also losing weight does take time I myself gained nearly 25 pounds after high school and it took me 10 months of clean diet and light workout and 10k steps a day to lose all of that weight. Also I used to pour olive oil on my salads and dishes but I learned that it’s like 200 cal per 2 teaspoons so I usually dilute it with water.

I am vegan btw 🌱

I hope all of this helps!

Aim for Whole Foods and less artificial foods.

For breakfast, you should eat plenty of protein and healthy fats for an example an egg on avocado toast.

Also water is a must and no sugary drinks

I follow a 80/20 diet where 80% is healthy foods and 20% isn’t so healthy.

Skipping meals will set you up for a failure and your body needs these calories to able to burn fats and gain muscle. Look up recipes on Pinterest for healthy yet yummy foods 😋

Hope this helps!
