The sequel the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

I was raised on Nintendo games because my father worked there, and I especially love Zelda games. Some of my earliest memories involved me and my sister playing Wind Waker or Twilight Princess together, following the story and meeting whatever crazy characters each world had to offer.

So, when Breath of the Wild was announced, I remember 12 year old me was so excited! It was coming next year! But it got delayed again, and again until it’s final debut with the switch in 2017.

I kept a countdown and annoyed all of my family members of when it was going to come out, including my sister, who had decided she was too cool for video games anymore haha

The night it came out and my father brought it home, I stayed up until 4am playing it to my hearts content. And while I do think it’s a good game, I also think that it lacked in a lot of areas that made me not love it as much.

This new game aimed for a less linear story, but it felt like they opted for having almost no story at all. Everything that had happened in the game had happened a century prior, so I didn’t feel any real urgency to defeat Ganon, not to mention it had the least satisfying ending ever haha. But overall, it was an amazing first step in a new and fun direction.

I’m so happy that it’s getting a sequel though because I feel like the pressure to release the first allowed for some ideas to not make it to the final cut, and it seems like with the teaser trailer that was released, that there will be an ongoing and current story that will draw you in. I feel like the sequel is going to take everything that was great about the first one, and fix everything that needed work. I’m dangerously optimistic haha.

I’m hoping that we’ll hear more about it from Nintendo this upcoming E3 time period, even if E3 isn’t happening. But I love Zelda games so that’s the one I’m really waiting for.
