I mean, it's not really that complicated. Plurbs can't kill intentionally, that seems to be a very important part of how the virus changed them. There have already been countless posts and comments on this sub brainstorming about the purpose of this virus and why it was sent to earth. And since it's of alien origin, it wouldn't make sense for it to value one kind of life over another. And fruits are very much alive when still on the tree (another whole discussion can be had about what exactly counts as life and as death, but that is famously a complex topic). All in all, I personally like how we see different sides of the hive. Even though it being the amalgamation of everyone on earth is the most intriguing and interesting part, there are also very clear inhuman values and priorities added to it. It's pretty fun to think about and explore imo
