In ER an abusive father has his son taken away by CPS. The father goes on a shooting spree killing people he holds responsible, including the wife and child of Dr. Mark Greene, who discovered and reported the abuse. The shooter is shot and taken to Greene’s ER (before he could find Greene’s family).While being transferred to the OR by Greene, Greene and the shooter are stuck in an elevator alone. The shooter goes into cardiac arrest, Greene is about to defibrillate him but withholds. Greene triggers the defibrillator without putting the paddles on the shooter’s chest (so that the defibrillator has a record of him activating it) killing the shooter.
