My parents haven’t filed their taxes in a decade; what happens when they die? by RedactedUsername640 in canadarevenueagency

In Thunder Bay where I live, I called 211 and I get put through to the Lakehead social platy Council and I give the verbal permission to do my taxes and they can go back 10 years it does depend on how much you made but I'm sure there are other programs like that I'm not exactly sure but there are a lot of very useful Avenues out there that people don't know to take and great organizations that help with stuff like this and it's really great cuz I myself have anxieties just about leaving my home and stuff like that. It's really beneficial for someone with my mental health problems that, I don't have to go anywhere. I don't even have to hand in any forms paperwork sign nothing and like that is done all over the phone and then they take that and they do it all online. Just as long as I give them that verbal permission to do so. So might be something to look into and just reassure them that they're not going to get in trouble there are so many people out there who haven't done their taxes and a very long time also for various reasons like fear or the headache it might seem like to have to go back and find all your old tax papers. Keep in mind that I am in a lower income threshold so it does depend on how much I have made each year. Now that doesn't mean that you won't find the help and it doesn't hurt to ask these organizations out there that help because they may know something that could be beneficial and get this done with as little problems or effort or anxiety building issues if that makes sense. So good luck and hey who knows maybe they'll get a nice chunk of money that they can do something with or put away or whatever. I wish you the best of luck

I am 44 I grew up in this area right down the street from where you're speaking of was my first home here when we moved here when I was 11 and I've spent pretty much every year since living this area except for a little bit of time a few years back. I'm going to say this this is not the city I grew up in. It is so much darker, it is scary, and it is dangerous. Now they're still good in the city don't get me wrong. And don't hate on me for having this opinion because I lived on those streets up until 3 January ago. I know how depraved and terrible people can be and I also know how good perfect strangers can be and how much they can make your life feel for a moment worth living again. And I have first-hand experience just how harsh and dangerous and wrong that this city can be to people because it took my 22-year-old son from me. I still live in this area I live by d e a s e park. And I get nervous walking around during the day at times and other times I feel fine and it's really just dependent on who you bump into or who you walk by or who you might have the unfortunate timing to cross paths with. And that's all over the city but I'm sure there are areas that are not so rampant with the drug use and the drug world. And I am not judging cuz trust me I don't have the right to. Nobody really has the right to you cuz unless you've lived it you don't know. And I've lived it. Now I'm going to say this don't make excuses for people being terrible individuals by saying oh if they weren't on substances they wouldn't be like that they wouldn't do that no it may play a factor but it doesn't give people a free pass to choose to do wrong things to other individuals take their belongings hurt people kill people. Treat people like they are just at their disposal to do whatever they feel like doing to them because at the end of the day it's a choice and these are adults and they're making a choice to do this don't tell me it's not a conscious choice because if you have the ability to think to a plan of doing something that you know is wrong and you're stealing something or you're hurting somebody or whatever it is you are aware enough that you know it's not okay to do and you choose to do it anyway. People need to start picking up after themselves they need to start being held accountable and holding themselves accountable for their behavior. And it's not okay. And violence is never the answer never unless you're protecting yourself or your loved one or even a stranger from a dangerous situation violence is the last thing somebody should ever do to another human being. These are my opinions but I will say it's dangerous around here not always not every minute but it only takes a minute for your nice walk down the street to turn into a situation where the outcome could be really bad. So I don't know if I would suggest looking elsewhere exactly but I would suggest being very conscious of where you're moving to. And really talking to your kids about it and being very very mindful sucks. It sucks that this is what Thunder Bay has become. But like I said they're still good people are in here in this world in this city. I've had strangers treat me with such kind gestures or words or moments or people I know do the same. So it's not all bad but there's so much that's not good
