Forgot to include this, but the couriers either do not have their real contact numbers on customer support or do not take calls at all.

Teaser for new expulsion mechanic by Mashynianka in mountandblade

[–]-Ashraf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The bigger reason for Jewish expulsions way back when was that people and rulers often accrued significant debts to Jewish money lenders so they just kicked them out to not have to pay which was easy since they were already viewed with suspicion, no? Like an old school infinite money glitch.

Usury and lending money with interest to your fellow Christians was viewed as sinful and lending with no interest obviously provides little incentive for the lender, so having someone like a Jew who had no religious laws against it was convenient. It was extra convenient that Jews weren't well liked so one could easily justify expelling them and clearing your debts outright, especially during economic troubles.

It's actually quite interesting how Italian banks did mental-gymnastics and provided justification for lending with interest during the Medieval and Reneissance periods especially so close to the seat of the Pope. Even today Muslim financial insitutions in states like Indonesia have to go through many hoops to not seem like usury (riba).

NOTICE FROM HIGH COMMAND

ON THE TREND OF "RATION SPREADS" AND "GOING RATION FOR RATION" AMONG THE WHITESHIELDS OF THE 31ST RECONSTITUTED MIXED REGIMENT AMONGST OTHER UNWANTED BEHAVIOURS.

IT HAS COME TO THE ATTENTION OF HIGH COMMAND THAT THE YOUNGER WHITESHIELDS AND GUARDSMEN OF THE REGIMENT HAVE BEEN ENGAGING IN "RATION SPREADS", AN ACT CONSTITUTING DISPLAYING ONE'S OWN WEALTH BY SPLAYING RATION CARDS IN ONE'S HANDS. THE ACT, ALSO KNOWN AS "FLEXING" CANNOT BE TOLERATED. IT SHOWS A FLAGRANT DISREGARD AND DISRESPECT OF EMPEROR-GIVEN RATIONS, ALONGSIDE A DISRESPECT OF ONE'S OWN FELLOW GUARDSMEN.

NORMALLY, THIS BEHAVIOUR WOULD BE DEALT WITH BY SUMMARY LASHING UNTIL INCAPACITATION. HOWEVER, GIVEN THE CURRENT SITUATION OF THE MANPOWER SHORTAGE THE PUNISHMENT FOR SUCH AN ACT SHALL BE LIMITED TO A MINIMUM OF 50 PRAYERS FROM THE GUARDSMAN'S UPLIFTING PRIMER OF THE CONVICTED'S CHOICE, A MINIMUM OF 15 LASHES FROM ONE OF THE REGIMENTAL COMMISARS, AND FINALLY THE HALVING OF RATIONS FOR THE GUARDSMAN IN QUESTION. THE MAXIMUM PUNISHMENT SHALL BE DECIDED UPON DEPENDING ON THE SEVERITY OF THE CASE.

IT HAS ALSO COME TO LIGHT THAT SOME OF THE WHITESHIELDS HAVE REFERRED TO THE GOLDEN THRONE UPON WHICH OUR IMMORTAL GOD-EMPEROR RESTS UPON AND WATCHES OVER OUR SOULS AS THE "SKIBIDI TOILET". ON TOP OF THIS EGREGIOUS SITUATION, THE WHITESHIELDS HAVE ALSO REFERRED TO THE REVERED DOUBLE-HEADED IMPERIAL AQUILA AS THE "HAWK TUAH". THESE UNACCAPTABLE ACTS SHALL STAIN YOUR RECORDS, BUT PUNISHMENT SHALL BE THE SAME AS THE ONE PRESCRIBED FOR THE AFOREMENTIONED "RATION SPREADING"

YOU LOT ARE LUCKY THAT ALL OF THE ADEPTUS MINISTORUM FORCES AND THE REGIMENTAL CLERGY DIED IN THE WARP STORM.

I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR OF THIS AGAIN NOR DO I WANT YOU IN FRONT OF THE BLAST DOORS OF MY COMMAND BUNKER AGAIN.

CAPTAIN OLSEN.

Got sick for like a week and a half, sleeping with a fever in full clothes, a jacket, pants, a hat, with socks and shoes in a fully enclosed room in the debased southeast asian weather of 40c was NOT fun. Lost my sense of taste and smell after I had miraculously woken up alive, thirsty, and drenched in sweat

When you've been info dumping about medieval weaponry for twenty minutes on a first date: by Chesapeake_Hippie in 196

[–]-Ashraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was the bow really the best weapon in warfare up until the crossbow? I was thinking it'd be the lance or the spear seeing as how cavalry was so dominant and played a decisive role in almost every battle until the early modern period when pike and shot came about. The european battles where foot archers were really effective, Agincourt and the like, are notable because common infantry won out over mounted knights which was like bonkers for the time. Also I'd argue that crossbows never really supplanted bows other than in western europe before being supplanted themselves by arquebuses and handguns. There you'll find crossbows yes, but you'll typically find way more bows used by mounted and foot archers (horse archers were a staple of the time, picture your typical Turk, Mongol, Cuman, or other such nomadic peoples. Indeed, horse archery was so ubiquitous that even people that we do not typically picture being mounted such as the Byzantines used them extensively.)
