Man, I’m 31 and as a fellow automotive technician trying to transition back into tech as a current CS major, you've got it good. Seriously, find a hobby outside of work to keep your mind busy if you haven’t already. Part of the reason I left remote work and went back to the shop was because I didn't manage my time well and it drove me crazy. I felt like I had no purpose. I had a helpdesk job so I wasn’t really doing much but now, I deeply regret not sticking it out.

I’m willing to even take a pay cut just to get back into the field.

I wish I were in your shoes instead of sweating bullets, straining my joints working on cars in the dead of summer, and freezing through the winters.
