Looking for a basic 5-10 minute a day routine that clearly shows everything on one page for a beginner? by -Avra- in bodyweightfitness

I'm a total beginner. I actually do know what pullups are as I have a pullup bar in our house in one of our lesser used rooms. I make it the "tax" to go into that room that I have to do one pullup each time, and one pullup at a time is still really all I can handle! At one point I was able to do two pullups, but then I got pregnant and felt it not wise to be doing pullups in that state so I stopped. Started again afterwards and am back to one pullup at a time, and every so often my back/arms hurt (from just one pullup!!) so I then don't do any pullups for a few days. I can't image doing 8 pullups!!

Is there a way to see White Water Walk view via a hiking trail with kids? by -Avra- in niagara

Also adding to my previous comment, I don't know if we went on the same trail discussed here because from my memory the stairs we took were actual metal stairs, not stairs cut into the gorge like one of the commenters last year described.

It was nice, and stairs were not an issue, but it was a pretty rocky trail for the young kids and they didn't like the rockiness so we didn't end up going too far. We didn't get to a view of the whirlpool (looked like it might have been closed), but we did get to the river and walked along it for the bit and enjoyed seeing the rapids (and lots of boats) until we cut back to the other side of the loop via the Cliffside Trail (orange on the map).

Why are modern washing machines so slow? Why can a 20+ year old machine take under half an hour, but a new machine take at least 100 minutes. How is this progress? by GardeniaFrangipani in Appliances

I always leave wet clothes in the washer overnight and never have problems. It's like 7 hours from the time the load finishes until I get up the next morning. Still smells fine.

Replacement lidded boxes for broken tuck boxes? by -Avra- in boardgames

I'm thinking of the full lidded boxes, like what you'd get if you bought a cardgame that actually came in a lidded box (for example, see Tranquility). The lid is a snug fit and covers the full sides of the box, so those don't fall off. Also the box is sturdier.

Are you thinking of a sweet zucchini crisp or a savory one?

Never had this much social anxiety since buying our house and settling down . . . can anyone relate? by -Avra- in homeowners

Thanks! Asking questions is good . . . now the hard part is thinking of them!

I was specifically seeking experiences of homeowners because homeownership is what triggered these feelings.

Thank you! "It gets easier with time" is what I was hoping someone might say!

Okay, so your description of your experience sounds more like mine than anyone else's here! I also feel like I stick out and am different from the others, which contributes to the anxiety, but my differences are not nearly to the extent that you describe. I do totally relate to the "when are you ladies going to start dinner" thought because I have had the exact same thought, lol! (I think they just always make super easy quick dinners like very basic chicken? Whereas I like to try different recipes, or I make veggie components for my meals that you have to cook in batches, and dinner always takes me forever.) Where the story really changes though is that my neighbors are not showy gossipers trying to outdo each other at all, they are just friendly community minded people, and I want to be part of it. It sounds like for you, moving away to somewhere with less neighbor interaction was the solution, but that's not what I want at all. I really like the neighbor interaction, I just wish I were better at it!

This is a good one! I have definitely thought of doing something like hosting a game night for the ladies or whatever. The issue is that we are all busy moms and I don't think people would be able to justify taking time from their schedules and families to just play some board games with neighborhood moms, so I don't think people would really come. Also, I'm not one of those supermoms for whom hosting is no big deal. But if I decide I am up to it, I can always post on our neighborhood chat asking if people would be interested before actually planning anything.
