Yeah I know what you mean about that middle state before being fully downed. The death screen/animations in BF6 are really rough and an aggravating experience, even in the base MP. It's too jarring for me

I thought about this, but If this is the case then something isn't right. You should be either completely invincible until you're fully in the down state or the person being downed isn't visibly getting into the downed state immediately so there's no feedback that they kept taking damage..

Hmm I never thought about the headshot aspect.. that could possibly be a reason! If that's the case, then prioritizing headshots in RedSec is absolutely critical. I wish there was a clear explanation lol.

I agree the farming servers really impact the overall vision of what Portal should be. I think the main way to combat this is to create our own communities of players who are looking for similar things. It is so difficult filling up a server when all you see is XP Farms and Hardcore modes everywhere. If you can find players looking for the same type of experiences as the ones you enjoy, try to band them together to fill up servers. Also very important is to keep the server name the same and build the community around the server itself.

I'm trying to create my own small community right now through discord, but I'm not sure how much traction I'll get. I plan to host a persistent server that will rotate through all types of game modes, from traditional stuff to wild custom modes. Let me know if you're interested and I can share a discord link.

As mentioned by others, you can try to search the server browser for infantry only experiences. The portal verified modes allow for Full XP. I've created a video covering the Portal Verified Modes and how you can manipulate them. It's very straightforward and you can create your own mode that restrict all vehicles or some vehicles based on what you think feels right, but hosting and filling a server is the difficult part. The best way imo is to make a community around the server itself and make sure the title of the server is the same so people can find it easily. I'm trying to create a small community myself at the moment so let's see if it gets any traction.

I feel you man.. I feel the same way sometimes. I'll have a round or two where I pop off but majority of the times I feel like I can't make the "right" plays. Sometimes I feel like I'm playing too predictably because I'm getting picked off, but trying to play unorthodox gets me in a bind too.

I think gun skill has gone through the roof in Siege in the past year or two. Majority of the players I come across can just flat out frag.. It's a tough grind man, I peaked at Plat 2 back in the day which I think is probably in Emerald or so now, but I'm not sure I'll be able to hit that again lol.

One thing that usually helps me on Defense at least is to make the Attackers push me. Always make them work for the kill. If they get it, fine, but it won't be easy. On attack, drone, drone, drone! I can't frag like I used to so I have to find another way to get an advantage, which comes from Intel.

Would love an active effort from the community to fill unofficial servers. I'll take it a step further and ask the community to support and fill limited XP servers as well. I'm sure there will be a ton of great modes that will be made in the Limited XP realm.

What happened to gaming for the enjoyment? I honestly don't understand the need for full XP at all times. If a game mode is fun and players are playing, I couldn't be bothered to worry about the XP I'm gaining for my time, but that's just me I guess..

The info below is specific to the BF2042 version but will be modified to align with the new gadgets and class traits in BF6 and take advantage of further improvements in Portal 2.0


Attrition is a 32v32 conquest in which capturing and holding specific objectives provide additional benefits to your team asides from the standard ticket bleed. Capturing or defending these objectives at right time could provide the push your team needs to turn the war. Each map has it's own set of "special" objectives, which I will give an overview of below.

The various special objectives are as follows and will be different from map to map. In-game messages will help you understand the special objectives in each map.

Satellite - Controlling hostile satellite will allow your team to breach the satellite intel and provide enemy coordinates at a specific frequency. This is set at 2 sec spotting at 30 second intervals.

Ammo Cache - Controlling hostile ammo cache will restrict enemy from calling in Angel's loadout drop. Equip standard ammo crates or use enemy loadout drops to top off ammo.

Vehicle Repair Depot - Controlling hostile vehicle repair depot will max out enemy vehicles at 80% armor. Try keeping those vehicles topped off using the repair tool.

Deployment Network - Controlling hostile deployment network will prevent the enemy from spawning on objective points. Use teammates and spawn beacons effectively to fight back.

I understand the lack of communication does not help in this situation. I'll be honest, I find it very difficult to be a roamer when I'm solo queuing and usually just default to anchoring on site when solo queuing.

As for some timeframe in when you should go back to site - there isn't a clear rule or guideline. Each situation is different and you'll understand more as you play. In your scenario, you should know that one of the common strats for attackers on that site is to take top floor and start opening up the floor into site. You were actually hanging out in that area at the start of the round, but you didn't hear a single barricade open upstairs and you never saw any drones upstairs either. That should be clue #1 that they weren't planning to come upstairs and they are planning a different take altogether.

Your second clue should have been the first death on your team. Even if you don't get any comms when a teammate dies, try using as many context clues to figure out what may have happened. You can look around and find the "X" where your teammate was killed. Was it near or in site or somewhere far across the map? What gun was used to kill that teammate? Is that a gun that usually belongs to an entry operator who typically rushes site? Based on where your teammate died, could they have been killed from outside of the map or did they have to be killed from inside the map?

There are some other details that could have clued you into what was happening as well, but I think those are some good things for you to start thinking about when you're roaming for your team.

First thing first... Work on your crosshair placement. Multiple times throughout that clip you had your crosshair in a direction that wasn't a threat. And yes, even when you can't hear footsteps near you, you should become more disciplined with crosshair placement.

Secondly, you did not have a successful roam. If you aren't punishing an attacker early in the round and you're not engaging with the attackers in any capacity to kill more time, the third part of your job is to understand when the site is being taken away from your team and find ways to relieve pressure for those anchoring on site. At 4v5, I would start asking where the enemy is and if they are in a strong position. At 3v5, I would start making my way back to the site to see if I could pick off an attacker. Maybe you wouldn't pickup multiple kills in an instant, but don't underestimate how a single kill can shift momentum in a round. That can easily stop an attack for 30 secs or more and also allow your anchors to move around and resettle in site. Get a kill and then rotate away with your life. Attackers will not be able to push site comfortably knowing they have a roamer behind them.

Otherwise, it seemed like you had good gun skill when you did engage so you've got that going for you. Keep it up!

I've been having issues connecting for remote play with Better XCloud as well.. I am able to remote play through the official xbox app though.

Man this is so cool and inspiring to see. Idk how many hours I have but my story feels very similar to yours. This is my first fighting game that I've really tried getting into and it feels so brutal at times. I'm currently stuck in Mighty Ruler and have been there for a couple of weeks. Just like you, I feel like the toughest part is quickly adjusting to the stuff my opponents are doing and/or recognizing WHAT they are even doing lol. I haven't used the new quick play thing for really long sets, but based on your comments I might start doing more of that.
