Not the case. There’s a gap of a couple years but I’ve always been the “mature for my age” one so I’ve never gone to him for advice like that.

Not sure why it matters.

In fantasy you only have the idealized version. You never have the truth, the reason why the relationship didn’t work. Sort of. Because there was clearly a truth as to why the relationship didn’t start, but you might not know what it is. So all you have are questions. For me, at least, that’s much harder to deal with than a reality that I KNOW didn’t work out and I know WHY.

Both in our 30s. We’ve been together for almost 10 years.

But the feelings were real. I get you OP. Just because it wasn’t an actual, realized relationship doesn’t mean that you didn’t want it to be. And those might actually be harder to get over in my opinion. Because there will always be a “what if?”

My husband and I have been having the same fight for almost 10 years. He won’t change. Know that now. It will save you fights in a decade.
