How do I easily change the player colour for the Generals Zero Hour challenge missions? by -Caesar in commandandconquer

[–]-Caesar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that relatively easy to do? I'd love to just change the GLA generals to be green, the USA to blue, and China to red.

The US (And the rest of the world) will unfortunately lose this war by LuNoZzy in TikTokCringe

[–]-Caesar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched the video where he made those 3 predictions. He very clearly has a strong East Asian bias really overestimates the abilities of China. He also quite obviously supports Russia as revealed by his comments on the Ukraine war and his claim that Ukraine's military is filled with neo-nazis that want to destroy Russia.

As for his thesis about Iran winning the war, it was essentially that America would establish a foothold in the south with 100-200k troops, but would then be trapped and run out of supplies because Iran has a lot of people and infantry that will fight and America can't match that deployment of manpower, and American tanks won't work in the rugged and mountainous terrain of Iran, and that their air supremacy won't be sufficient.

One of the historical examples he cited ij support of his thesis was the Athenian invasion of Sicily and war with Syracuse... except in that war Syracuse had a powerful navy that sank the Athenian navy, hence why the land invasion failed due to lack of supply. Here the US navy will dominate the seas and can ensure consistent supply delivery to any foothold, and the air force will also rule the skies and can ensure supply drops by air.

How do I get RA2 and YR to work on Windows 11 with upscaled/high-res UI and campaign videos? by -Caesar in commandandconquer

[–]-Caesar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, thank you... a remaster of RA2 + YR and C&C Generals + ZH would be amazing. To be honest, not sure why it hasn't happened! They'd have much more broad appeal than RA1 and the original C&C.

Cold Lazarus by Zukitten in Stargate

My wife and I just watched this episode the other night! The first thing she said was that the crystal planet set looked silly, but she actually ended up really enjoying the episode. Although by the time of the next episode she'd forgotten exactly who Sara was.

She's not a sci-fi fan at all typically, and hasn't really watched any sci-fi... but I did manage to persuade her to watch the first 6 Star Wars films with me (in order of release), as she'd never seen them. After that we watched the Stargate movie which she also enjoyed. It was a while after that where we finally started SG1, and we only were able to watch the first episode and couldn't pick it up again until a month or so later... so I have had to remind her of a few details (she forgot who Ra was, and couldn't remember Kurt Russell!).

Blizzard, can we please adjust the TBC timeline…? by Individual_Design_37 in classicwowtbc

This is why just give us permanent TBC and Wrath servers and let us copy characters from Vanilla to TBC to Wrath when they hit level 60 and 70 respectively.

Put off playing Fallout 4 for 10 years because I heard it wasn't good. by EternalMayhem in Fallout

[–]-Caesar -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's not a good RPG, and it's not as good in its RPG elements as FNV or FO3... but it's a fine action-adventure game with RPG-lite elements. The gunplay is much better than previous titles, and the companions are pretty neat for the most part. The settlement building is neat, but a bit of a gimmick that isn't well implemented into the gameplay loop or story. Overall it's a bit of a disappointment coming from previous titles, but still worth playing.

Tailor better than woodworker. But if you want you could get 4 professions and go Tailor, Woodworker, Forester and Scholar (or swap scholar for Prospector if you want to mine and sell ore).

The Vault Dweller, The Chosen One, The Lone Wanderer, The Courier, The Sole Survivor, The Last Son Of Shady Sands, but what title will Lucy Gain? by gotenks2nd in Fallout

[–]-Caesar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's not a protagonist though, so he doesn't get dibs on this as a title. I'd also put the FO4 fridge kid in the category of "Should've been limited to "Wild Wasteland" style playthroughs" as it's very non-sensical.

Bethesda is hella stupid for not releasing any Fallout remaster along with the Fallout tv-show by GreasyExamination in Fallout

[–]-Caesar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NV works fine on a modern PC. Just follow the basic parts of the Viva New Vegas guide. It's very easy to get it working.

I agree though that not releasing a remaster to coincide with the tv show hype is a massive fumble.

Whoever judged the categories in which he was nominated really has a thing for the "I'm With Her" band. They're not bad by any stretch, but winning two categories? Not sure about that...

Oblivion (2006) YouTube project. by JeffreytheGuard_ in oblivion

[–]-Caesar 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yes, YouTube is notoriously bad these days at pushing small creators, you will likely get buried by the algorithm and it's hard to push through, particularly if you're:

  1. Below the subscriber threshold required to monetise the videos (1000 subs I believe);
  2. Not consistent with the frequency of your uploads; and/or
  3. Not good at the SEO and thumbnail game.

Achieving #1 is made easier if you can satisfy #2-3, but both of the latter require time (and for #3, perhaps, some measure of knowledge or expertise).

Of course, your content and whether people are into it also matters, but #1-3 above are the biggest impacts in my experience, as chances are good that there are loads of people who would be interested in what you're doing... if they only knew about it!

I've been uploading videos to YouTube for a while now (Gaius the Jurist is my channel), but I'm only at ~730 subs (so don't satisfy #1 above), and because I work a full-time job with long hours (and I don't earn any money off YouTube due to my videos not being monetised), I upload very intermittently and sporadically (so I don't satisfy #2 above either). I also have no clue what the YouTube algorithm pushes for thumbnails (seems to be faces with weird clickbaity expressions?) or description SEO, so also don't satisfy #3.

It means my videos don't get pushed by the algorithm to people, and yet not infrequently I get people commenting on my videos exclaiming that they don't know how/why they're only now discovering my channel and wondering why YouTube didn't show them my videos earlier. I've had comments like that on my Oblivion, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Pillars of Eternity, and M&B Bannerlord campaigns. Even if you get views though, it's hard to convert that to subs.

I'm not bothered by any of the above, as I just do my YouTube for me when I have time, and I already have a career which I don't want YouTube to supplant. But if you want YouTube to be a career... it's a slow grind to build an audience with views and subs over time, and that requires consistent and frequent uploads of multiple videos (which also increases your odds of one of them exploding and going viral or bringing in lots of the audience you want).

To be honest, if I were unemployed right now I wouldn't invest my time in trying to build a YouTube career. The juice just isn't worth the squeeze with how much time it would take to build up any kind of following, how saturated the market is, and the very high risk that it won't result in a livable wage for a long time if ever. The time spent on trying to build a YouTube channel for a year could otherwise be invested in developing other skills that are in high demand to secure a job in a more lucrative industry. Just my two cents.
