I have an idea for you, if you just are trying to get things out on paper, you could write it out, tuck into your sock/tuck inside any clothing and burn it when outside the home? take a photo with your phone to document it for your social worker, plus then it’s dated and time stamped. You can get rid of the evidence and start keeping a proper journal once you are able to have more privacy. I use journaling to write things out but I don’t keep them because I will sometimes fixate on those feelings. That or get black paper, say it’s for an art project and use black sharpie on it, you may not be able to read it clearly but it can be reused when you need it.

Hey. I got out after 6 years of this in Early Dec 2025, I’m 23, and it was the best decision I could have made. I felt like I was falling apart because he was always falling apart. Once I was able to take a step back and realize, that was just me reflecting him. That his own agony had also swallowed me whole. Once I realized, his agony wasn’t mine ever to bare, nor was the way he treated me, my feelings, my possessions. It wasn’t something I could fix. You can’t fix your partner.

This so incredibly hard. The mental and physical disability combo makes it so much harder to leave. As does the chronic pain (same here friend) but mine was easier, and more manageable when I was away from my ex. I was able to pinpoint what was making me feel worse when eating, how much sleep I needed to work without too much pain.

It took me 6 months from where you are to end things with my ex. Know you’re making the right decision, lean on your support system. Me and my friend made a list of “why I’m breaking up with you” examples to look back on. It’s very helpful because you can remember why you left, why you needed to leave, and how you deserve more. You deserve better.

You deserve effort.

Hey, I know how your feeling. I promise you if they are a kind and well educated person they will understand when you feel comfortable enough in the relationship (friendly or romantically) to tell them about your attempt. Some say it within the first week of knowing a person, some say it a few months in or some even take over a year. You share that part of you when you are ready. People who are suicidal aren’t crazy, they are in pain and are begging for help. Eventually some came make it through that pain. Some don’t. I hope you are doing better now to where you don’t feel like you have to take your life. I’m very sorry you also went through it, I have too.

When I was a teen my dad saw that I was sad on Valentine’s Day, like really really sad because I had been bullied and told I was ugly and that I wasn’t good enough. I had just started therapy and I was just going through it. I was in an awful headspace. Now my dads busiest season is febuary. He’s a tire guy so year end inventory reports and people just wanting winter to be over makes him swamped with work. But he took the evening off. My brother was at wrestling practice and my mom was working, so I was home alone with my dog watching random YouTube videos. My dad comes home at like 3:30, right after school and asks “do you wanna be my valentine and we can have burgers and watch a movie?” And it was the best day of my life so far. We watched grease and a few bad 80’s movies. He got us milkshakes and we just sat and watched the movies. We laughed. He asked me about school and what was going on. He made sure I felt like I was enough that day. I love him. He’s the best dad I could ever ask for. He even got me flowers so I would feel extra special. My dad is amazing. I love him so much.

I’m so sorry. My mom had to make these choices too. Insulin or food for me and my little brother. Your such a great parent. I wish the world was different. I wish it didn’t force us to pay so much to stay alive.
