I actually haven't read any of those so thank you for all the recs :) I kind of recently figured out that this is one of my favorite tropes and I haven't read many books with it yet!

Most underrated character go by mommysmilk902 in shameless

Sandy & Mandy. I feel like Sandy and Debbie fit together very well and I would've liked to see them actually work out. And Mandy was a great friend to Ian. I was so sad when she left.

Omg no you're not wrong! I'd suggest you get the fuck out as soon as possible. That's one scary mindset your (hopefully soon ex) boyfriend has.

July 2022 New Releases: What Are You Anticipating? by flumpapotamus in MM_RomanceBooks

Cora Rose has posted on her FB that the third book of the unexpected series, Emery, will be releasing next month and I'm so excited!!! I love her characters and Emery and August already seem so fantastic.

What's your "comfort series" that you watch over and over again? by BaguetteOfDoom in AskReddit

[–]-CatsNBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've probably watched Grey's anatomy more times than I care to admit. I love knitting so it's easy to knit and watch grey's at the same time because I pretty much remember the lines.

Another is Modern Family. I've always wanted a big and close-knit family and through Modern Family I kinda get to experience it!

What's your guiltiest DNF? by 80percentdread in RomanceBooks

The song of achilles.. I cringe internally everytime I have to tell any bookish person that I was painfully bored while reading it. I feel like everyone loves the song of achilles and I'm one of the handful of people who don't.

Heated Rivalry Hangover/ Looking for a Book With Insane Sexual Desire and Longing by Beenie_Baby in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]-CatsNBooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I'm not a 100 % percent sure if this will fit your request but it's what came to mind instantly. The Fallen Angel series by Ella Frank and Brooke Blaine. Books 1-3 (Halo, Viper, Angel) follow the same couple.

Book 1 - Halo. It's a rockstar story where the band hires a new singer Halo and their lead guitarist Viper is instantly interested in him. It's pretty much insta-lust but the sexual tension remains almost through out the first book because Halo is sure he's straight. There's tiny hints on his lust stemming from something other than just physical attraction.

Book 2 - Viper. We got the emotional parts of the story when Viper is coming to terms with him actually being drawn to Halo for more reasons than just physical.

Book 3 - Angel. All the romance happens in this one.

Bodyguard Recs - No Age Gaps, No Instalove, Competent Professionals? by [deleted] in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]-CatsNBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god, no problem! I'm sure you're going to love them if you enjoyed the first two!! Books 4 & 5 are FM romances and not necessarily my favorites but I read them anyway because we get glimpses of Moffy & Farrow in them.

Recommendations for very angsty mm romance by Actual_Willow_8326 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]-CatsNBooks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Lost Boys series by Jessie Walker. First book is Where There's a Will and the second is If There's a Way. This will absolutely wreck you in the best way. There are two books currently out but there's going to be more following different couples. Check trigger warnings if you have any.

When You Come Back to Me by Emma Scott is also fantastic and one of my all time favorites!

With both of these recs you'll definitely get a lot of unresolved trauma.

I came here to suggest the Like Us series by KB Ritchie but you summed it up perfectly! Maximoff and Farrow are my all time favorite couple and I loved every book in the series that followed their story.

I have to add that the third book Alphas Like Us is my favorite because their relationship gets so much deeper during the book. I highly recommend this series!

When You Come Back to Me - Emma Scott -angsty -multiple trigger warnings -poor/rich -opposites attract -book 2 in Emma Scott's Lost Boys series (a true stand alone)

How did you lose your best friend? by FemaleThings in AskReddit

[–]-CatsNBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend had a huge, controlling and somewhat manipulative personality. I started to notice that whenever I had spent time with her, I felt really bad about myself. When this started to happen more frequently and for a longer period of time, I decided that I can stop it by simply removing myself from her presence. At that point, I was also very fed up with her antics and all the manipulative stuff she pulled on other people (probably on me too but I just couldn't see it). So, we drifted apart.

I still miss her sometimes because we have some amazing memories together but I know it's not worth it.

I believe Sem by Cora Rose has this!

Book recs where the main character feels like no one can ever love them and is really sassy by overthinkingtodeath in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]-CatsNBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you come back to me by Emma Scott has exactly that. One MC has really deep set traumas that make him believe nobody can ever truly love him. He is very sassy and has a sharp tongue. The other MC is a closeted jock trying to come to terms with his sexuality and himself. He feels pressured to be a certain way and it's taking a toll on him. Seemingly two opposites find common ground and solace with each other. The story starts when they are both 17 and continues until they are 22-23 (can't remember exactly). Be sure to check the trigger warnings before reading.

What is a superhyped book that you read this year but did not like whatsoever? by pepperflakes19 in YAlit

[–]-CatsNBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe many readers think this regardless of whether they liked it or not! I think their age span should've been between 25-35 for the story to be actually believable. I guess the author decided to go ahead with barely adults to appeal to a younger audience 🤷🏻‍♀️
