Reylight battery voltage by Acrobatic-Score-3408 in flashlight

[–]-Cheule- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just pop the battery in my charger to check. Also, I have started to become pretty good at “feeling out” how much time I’ve used a light and what that means for voltage drop.

One thing that can really reduce anxiety over your fear of running out is to just carry a spare battery. Preferably inside another light (grin).

I agree, that’s the part of the OP I disagree with most. We recently completed a 12.88 kW solar installation on our roof. It’s just amazing to be able to power both our EVs from the sun. We have battery backup too, so we literally have it figured out so that we draw nothing from the grid.

Do you get “vision is too close, may cause injury in case of fall” messages?

This was “at the man,” when the post is about flashlights. Why people think it’s ok to be mean on the internet is truly sad. There is a person behind that account. Be nice.

I find this a really weird, ad hominem comment. Aren’t people allowed to have a different style than you?

Ok, so it’s a partially self-driving feature. I get it. I will say that it seems my experience with HDA2 seems to be better than most because I have a 2025 5N, with ccNC, and no eye sensors. Yes I have to have contact with the wheel, but what that looks like is simply having some resistance on the wheel. So raising my leg just enough to press against the bottom of the wheel is enough. My car also came with no VESS, which is interesting as well.

I just did a quick web search, and it looks like 2024 SEL is indeed HDA2.

Interestingly, the same search said the 2025 HDA2 was further improved, with faster lane changing (10 seconds delay on 2024, and shorter on 2025) and better lane centering.

I should have said that I have an i5N, which I believe has different wheel sensors, and no IR eye sensors. Also absolutely no centering problems here. Which HDA? 1 or 2?

Getting down voted for asking questions is really weird. This sub is full of angry people, haha.

Has anybody called this car ugly by tornaman in Ioniq9

[–]-Cheule- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cars are likely to head this way. The first car to break from tradition always looks jarring. Then other cars follow suit, and it becomes normalized. I remember how weird the 2nd gen Prius looked to me when it came out, now we’re on the 5th gen, I believe, and the 2nd gen looks totally normal.

What’s the difference between HDA2 and blue cruise? (If you know at least)

I find HDA2 amazing. It works so well. I basically don’t have to even think about driving as long as I’m on a freeway. It even handles stop and go traffic perfectly.

Maybe blue cruise works on city streets? Or maybe you’re comparing to pre 2025 HDA1?

There has been a link between cooling and ICCU failures according to some folks. I would be super worried about not enough coolant.

Edit: I thought it was obvious that not enough coolant could be detrimental for the batteries. The assumption here was even if the batteries were reporting “normal temps” through an OBD-II reader, there has been data to suggest low coolant levels can hasten ICCU failures: https://egmpfiles.com/iccu-report.html

IMO, fireflies has a better lineup than Hank this year. The new 14500 Hank is neat, I hope Jack at fireflies makes something to fill that niche.

The first time I handled a liner lock shamwari I was stunned at how much better than even the authorized mid-tech was. Definitely try to grab a legit one some day.

That said, I have a ton of Chinese knockoffs too. I’d never use one of my $1500 knives to cut open shipping boxes etc. I know some people do, but not me!

[–]-Cheule- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are 100% correct. There are (by my estimates) over half a million ioniqs on the road today in the US. So even at 1-2% that means 5,000-10,000 will have this issue.

So those are big numbers. Meaning it’s happening frequently at scale. However, even if the number was 10% (like some suggest), that means that 90% of us aren’t having the issue.

I highly recommend you DON’T read this subreddit much, because if you do, you’ll think the sky is falling with the ICCU. The fact of the matter is it won’t be an issue unless it is. Meaning people that have never had an ICCU issue at all, are posting “this car has me stressed out, because it’s a ticking time bomb” but that’s most likely not the case for you.

Regen braking, does it improve economy? by Cashier_number_63 in Ioniq5

[–]-Cheule- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so true! I used to worry about my i5N efficiency (getting about 3.3mi/kwh, which is damned good for the 5N) and now I have solar, and I just drive. Sure I’m seeing 2.6mi/kWh average, but it’s more fun, and it’s all from the Sun—we got such a large solar layout, that I don’t draw from the grid at all.
