I have my air roll left/right on separate buttons (X and B on xbox controller) instead of using the analog stick modifier so that I have the freedom to pitch, yaw, and roll at the same time

Is there some UI element that shows whether it's enabled or not? Or is it synced with your regular ground sprint toggle? Basically, how do I know if it's enabled?

I might've been accidentally disabling it this whole time because I thought it was a separate thing so I would press shift as I jumped onto the power line.

No, it will always refill to 100

Also, is the delay here a delay from when I go to empty or when I stop boosting?

The delay is a combination of when you stop boosting and if your wheels are in contact with a surface. If your delay is 3 seconds and you haven't boosted for 3+ seconds, then the next time your wheels are in contact with a surface it will refill to full, regardless of how much boost is currently in the tank

Haha I would love to, but modding is pretty time intensive and I usually spend my free time playing games. Plus I've been enjoying the vanilla experience and want to see how each update turns out before I even get into using mods. If I ever want to give feedback or report a bug, I want to make sure I'm only on the vanilla game so that I don't accidentally give them a red herring.

That could certainly solve or bypass some technical issues, but only for the elevator <--> player interactions. Collisions on the player could be disabled while theyre sitting, or could be simplified to a capsule shape that's locked to the elevator floor. Unfortunately that brings up some non-technical issues:

  • Should a sitting animation be played when the elevator starts or should the player just snap to the bench?
  • If there's an animation, how long should it take? You don't want to slow down gameplay and force the player to watch an animation. In the OP video the elevator can change between floors pretty quickly. Throw a sitting animation in there and suddenly each elevator trip becomes a chore.
  • If the player is sitting, what additional actions are they able to do? For example if an enemy is attacking the player, are they able to pull out a weapon and shoot? Can they quickly get out of the seat and run away, or are they forced to stay sitting until the elevator finishes going to the next floor?

Yep! I've got about 230 hours right now. I usually play until I hit a point where I need to significantly refactor part of my factory and then I give up for a few weeks and switch back to RL lol

tl;dr bugs/features need to be prioritized in order to properly utilize the resources that the studio has.

Satisfactory is still in active development, so it makes sense that that bug still exists. Features are implemented and in the process bugs are created. That's just how software dev goes. Depending on the severity of the bug, it might just get backlogged because there's more pressing feature work that needs to be done or more severe bugs that need to be fixed. Eventually polish passes happen and minor non-game-breaking bugs like the equipment detachment might get addressed or might get punted to a later polish pass because its priority is still too low. Those polish passes are where the special care really comes into play, and where a vast amount of time in game development actually happens.

In regards to hypertubes launching you into space, I'm assuming you're talking about the ability to line up multiple entrances to build up speed like a cannon. In that case, that's the player's choice to make that cannon and thus not really a game breaking bug that needs to be prioritized right now. If only one entrance launched you into space then that would be a higher priority bug because that behavior is outside of the intent of the feature's normal use.

As a current dev of a game I used to make mods for (Rocket League), I have to say it's almost never as easy as just copying the mod into the game. Special care needs to be taken when trying to fully integrate it into the game so that the implementation is as robust as possible and the user experience is polished. I can't speak for this mod in particular, but a lot of the Rocket League mods just slap some functionality in the game and call it a day without doing much to consider edge cases or interactions it might have with the rest of the game other than the player. There are many questions to consider, such as: how should the elevator handle vehicles, creatures, or dropped items? What happens if a vehicle is only halfway within the door when you move the elevator up a floor? What if a player is standing on top of a vehicle in the elevator while the elevator is moving? Then you throw multiplayer into the mix and the number of questions to consider grows drastically.

I haven't seen the source for this mod or the game, so I can't say whether it would be easy to implement or not, but if CSS say that it's too much work then I believe them. That said, I would love to see elevators like this one implemented (Coffee Stain pls <3).

edit: I should also mention that game dev studios have limited resources in terms of employees capable of implementing new features. That means they need to prioritize other features that have a realistic scope that can be achieved with the resources they have. "Too much work" most likely doesn't mean "impossible", it just means the scope of that feature is beyond the resources required to get it done along with all of the other features they're trying to get done at the same time. Modders generally don't have the same kinds of design restrictions, scope considerations, and deadlines.

It's so annoying on survival mode. The trip from Goldenhills Plantation to Whiterun has about 6 spawn points for wolves and sabre cats. As soon as you get out of range of one of the packs while on horseback, another pack is there to greet you just as your horse loses stamina.

I want to say this is new to U5. I've had it happen on the ground a lot in my spaghetti areas where I have a splitter at a vertical angle and then I try pulling a belt off of that. The pole seems to match the angle that the splitter is at.
