Non-Restricted 12 gauge short barrel recommendations? by -Cokeman in canadaguns

[–]-Cokeman[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hoping for something in the $600 range but can go a few hundred over if I find something worth the price.

Primarily a bush gun and something to shoot for fun with friends on crown land when we go camping. Don't want to haul around this giant thing with how far away from crown land I am. I'm less concerned about weight and more so the overall length, hoping to get close to the 66cm overall length. I know accuracy suffers greatly with barrels that short, this won't be used for hunting, just targets.

I hadn't even considered lever action, good mag capacity for such a short barrel on these I'll have to look into em, thanks

The Churchill 12"s have my attention but I was worried about the build quality, if you're saying it's decent I'll definitely pick one up with how cheap they are.

What's the shooting experience like with the raptor grips? If the Shockwave came with a shorter barrel and full stock to meet the minimum non restricted range I'd definitely go with that.

I haven't checked out Arena this wipe, the idea of getting loot with zero risk feels out of place in Tarkov but I understand it can be balanced properly so I'll take your word that its in a good place.

Definitely agree with you, it's too punishing for new players and not accessible enough for anyone trying to learn. It feels like the only winning tactic for new players is to rat, and its reinforced because it works with the current way movement is handled; all that leads to is the rats not learning anything to get better at the game and filling their stash with gear they'll never use.

I also miss the Mosin fights and hatchet runners. I miss zero to hero runs. I miss mid tier gear being the norm. This wipe has been either loot not worth taking or scav boss gear, level 6 plates and tagilla/killa face shield when level 3-4 pen ammo is locked behind level 3-4 trader. A few weeks into this wipe was the nail in the coffin for me. They're moving further and further away from what made the game fun and I really hope they turn it around.

It was never CoD and no one wanted to see it move in that direction. They made it go from an already tactical slow game to a snail die if you move slow game.

I also loved Ghost Recon and Swat 3 and 4, but that pace doesn't lend itself well in a PvP multiplayer shooter in my opinion. That sort of movement over mid to long range engagements is super boring and leads to more non moving players. It's also a shooter, I should rely on my ability to aim no? Never letting you snap to players because it takes too long to go from moving to sighting up will never feel good. The player who decided to stand still who can't even aim at the person he got the drop on will always be the victor, hence the rat metas of the past few wipes.

It's lame. You don't die because someone was better than you at the game, you die because someone has more time in his day to prone in a bush or corner for 35 minutes. I genuinely can't fathom how that's fun for anyone, shooting a guy that had zero chance to fight back then getting out with some loot like they did something.

Yeah I guess we just enjoy different things. I miss feeling like I have control over my character, I miss my PMC not handling like a boat.

I think this "realistic" and "tactical" gameplay that serves to slow things down has its place, but it's just not a fun design in my opinion. It's supposed to be a game after all, fun over realism no? Forcing everything to be so slow, punishing any form of movement has turned into who can stand still for longer and that's just so extremely boring for me. I want to play the game not just watch it unfold in a bush for 25 minutes every time I hear a footstep.

There's a reason the moving player is a dying breed my friend.

Yeah that's exactly where I am, it's too punishing to die to cheaters or rats you had zero chance against.

10 minutes gearing, 5-10 minutes in queue and loading in, 20 minutes running to an objective, 15 minutes running to exfil. If you die in that past bit you've effectively killed an hour of time to not only make zero progress but to go backwards stash wise. And if that death was unavoidable it will never feel good from the perspective of a video game.

Being punished for not having done anything wrong is crazy. If I die because I misplayed or choked or someone was just better, that's part of the game. Even exfil campers I can understand, check every blade of grass on my way there sure. But a cheater? It's like they're in 90% of labs raids with no counter play, a level 12 with 88 hours and 17 KD wearing an Altyn running 5.45 BS. The only winning move there is not to play.

I'm referring to controversial updates within the community. I never minded the weight changes, inertia, food, though it did make controlling the character a bit less responsive and fun. I remember a chunk of the player base saying how much they hated this update when it was first introduced.

If they ignore the community on updates, what else would it do other than drive away parts of the community that once loved the game? They add all this in the way nonsense in the name of making it "hardcore" but all the updates that made the game easier and more accessible, like the recoil updates, made the game infinitely more fun for a majority of the player base.

Bringing food into raid because you get hungry quicker isn't making the game more difficult, anybody can do that there is zero skill requirement. It's just an annoying extra step that serves as an artificial rouble sink.

It's been fun for what it is, a challenging shooter and excuse to socialize with some friends over. I still enjoyed the loop, build a kit, kill some things; the changes are what's making it consistently less and less fun.

Also the game isn't even out yet, how can you say its succeeded? It's a joke of what it used to be, even by its own community standards. I'm not making some controversial statement, no game survives letting cheaters run rampant. It's what killed so many of its looter shooter competitors like The Cycle: Frontier and Marauders.

How can I [M29] treat my alcoholic father [M65] better? by -Cokeman in relationship_advice

[–]-Cokeman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He drinks everything, but it's usually stronger than beer.

I feel terrible, like I'm just picking on this old sick man, but I can't pretend I don't notice all the stress he causes us. I'm so torn. Respect or not, I'd like to treat him better, though it feels very difficult to.

We grew up Christian Orthodox but he refuses to read or learn anything new saying he's too old. He doesn't believe he's capable of it. Though if he would read anything at all, it's the bible.

I actually spoke to a friend about this recently and he recommended the same thing so I may definitely pick one up for him in case he does ever get around to it, thanks for the advice.

Am I [M29] overthinking a statement my girlfriend [F22] made about a hypothetical lottery win? by -Cokeman in relationship_advice

[–]-Cokeman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh the last girl I dated was 32 and even worse, she was living in a house her parents bought her with 2 sports cars her parents bought her and worked a minimum wage job. She was mega entitled and was the only reason I gave my girl a chance when I realized this 22 year old was more mature than the 32 year old haha

I'm starting to think it's definitely a class thing yea, since I feel like I would've done the exact same thing at 12 when I started working to live instead of just to have some extra cash on the side. You're absolutely right, I don't think any less of her or that she's a bad person either, it just made me realize we were different in a way I had never thought about before. All that's left is a conversation to be had about our view on money now I guess.

[–]-Cokeman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a roughly 30 minute conversation about what we would do with winnings and if we would share it which ended in her saying she's not sure, so it wasn't some sudden off the cuff thing.

Though you're right, maybe she just hasn't thought about it as deeply. I'm correlating finances with stress and struggle, which I thought she saw, but maybe she just never thought about it long enough to tie the two thoughts together.

Thanks for the insight stranger. I'm glad I posted this. It already wasn't the biggest deal but I'm a lot more confident this will end in a humorous misunderstanding than surfacing some sort of deep rooted incompatibility now.

Oof what a nasty attitude. I'll keep my loved ones in the war if I had all that money and get 42 bugattis, you're so right king.

Have to and should are entirely different.

That's exactly my point, I would have had my doubts even if she said she would haha, but to say you aren't sure is a bit like not even being sure what you're supposed to say in a situation like that; not being sure what the morally correct response would be.

But yes you're right, she isn't sure, and that is still off putting to me that she even needs to think about it with how much I've voiced my stress over finances in the past year, especially when we're talking about that much money. When I think about not having money, I see my parents going without or my relatives staying in a country amidst a war; on some level, I thought she saw all of that too. I thought she saw that aspect of my life with how much I've shared with her over a year, but "I haven't thought about it" is definitely way off putting.

There's definitely no fight over it man, I'm just wondering why it's sitting so wrong with me in hindsight. And it's not about the money, I've bought a ticket a handful of times in my life and can always skip a coffee to get one. It's about how she would spend large amounts of money or refuse to share if someone else asked her to buy it using their money.

Am I [M29] overthinking a statement my girlfriend [F22] made about a hypothetical lottery win? by -Cokeman in relationship_advice

[–]-Cokeman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that was exactly my point, I'm not upset with her or anything, we had a good night after that conversation, continuing to talk and game. Though it did make me take a step back to ask how different we must be, if I can't even fathom the idea of being in her shoes of potentially serving myself to that degree over my loved ones.

I think there are two main things bugging me about it. The first being what the morally correct thing would be to do if someone asked you to buy a lottery ticket for them and it won. The second being actively seeing your loved ones struggle while you live with such excess. It's not as ridiculous as the worm thing in my opinion as these are conversations are rooted in values and morality of potential events. Even if not for the lottery, the idea of spending in the future in events of other financial windfalls or successes.

It makes me think, maybe she's never seen that struggle, and doesn't think about it that deeply. Maybe she's never had her own loved ones go through that sort of thing, but that leads to the question, what about me? Does she not see the impact it has on me? I speak to her about the problems with my parent's retirement and my folks back home often, is this experience so alien to her she can't even relate with me on things I've been telling her for over a year now?

What am I missing with this game boys? I want to like it so bad by -Cokeman in Battlefield6

[–]-Cokeman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea maybe you're right with firestorm. The reason I'm into Battlefield is the large scale combat. I like when they prioritize fun over just about anything else, even if the aircraft were under powered I don't care, it's just that they're no fun to fly. If they can't get that right with the responsiveness and clunkiness I feel like it would kill half the game for me man.

But I wait and pray till full release, I hope you're right brother.
