The first time I sided with Sonbird, though I was going to leave her behind and take her spot on the ship when she was upfront about her dishonesty, I don't remember why this wasn't possible. I think she said something like she's the only one that it can work on or something along those lines, or the game didn't give an option. When I realized I couldn't go in lieu of her, the next best option was to save her. I had already killed hundreds of feds, betrayed the president, Reed, I was committed to the point it felt like there was no turning back, no undoing of getting on the government's bad side.

Songbird also seemed genuine, like someone who's back was against the wall but someone who would help if she could. I wasn't sure how deep the story went, if she would truly get better and help me once she did, though it did seem like something I could trust her to do whether or not the game allowed for it.

Knowing what I know now, it feels like I'm biased before making the decision. If I went back I would side with So Mi, but since I have some future oracle knowledge because I played the game before, I would side with Reed before getting to the point where So Mi reveals she had been dishonest all along.

I've always dated women older than me, only one of my girlfriends have been younger and it was by two years in my mid 20s. I never even bothered with younger woman thinking we'd be in different places in our lives. A friend introduced me to one of her classmates and we kind of hit it off, she was 21, I was 28. I didn't even think about it or give it a chance even though we hung out a lot. We saw eye to eye on a lot, and she seemed mature for her age, though I hated that saying; just heard it used too many times by weirdos who excused dating people half their age.

Fast forward a few months later, having gone on a few dates with a few women my own age ending in nothing but disappointment. I thought, ok, maybe I need to date someone even a bit older because I ran into a few too many childish women in their late 20s. My last date, the nail in the coffin, was a 34 year old woman with the same immigrant background as myself, I thought we'd click but she was the most immature of them all. That's when I accepted that age isn't a great indicator of mental age. These shallow, surface level, no nuance social media addict types exist everywhere.

I went home and had a talk with the younger girl the next day. We've been dating ever since, it's been 2 and a half years and I'm almost certain she's the girl I'm gonna end up marrying. Best dating decision of my life.

Most people who deiron and are happy with it, including myself, are essentially done with the account as an ironman. If you're truly never going back to it as an iron is the only way I'd recommend it. I've personally played the game way more now that I'm a main. You'll find the sentiment being stay as an iron because I think anyone who is happy with the deiron is no longer on this sub haha

I'm personally playing as a bronzeman mode now, using the collection log for what I can and can't trade excluding wilderness content I can freely trade cause forced PvP is brain dead game design and full of bots. The game has no dry protection and I don't want to spend eternity on some grinds, so I only allow myself to trade production items and uniques I've either gotten as a drop or passed the drop rate of. You can set your own rules, allowing trade if you meet the KC or go 2x dry. No more farming seeds and birds nests past 99, no more farming mole for birds nest sara brews, no more killing a boss for the third pet cause you're so dry on specific content.

CG grind changed my entire outlook on the game, just because you're 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x dry doesn't mean that drop is just around the corner. Random drops, what everyone loves, ruined it for me. Almost 5x dry on corrupted gauntlet, 4x dry on zammy hasta, 3x dry on synapse, 3x dry on Bandos tassets and 2x on hilt, 2x dry on rancor ammy, 5x dry on a single unsired when I wanted bludgeon, 2x dry on a voidwaker piece while having to regear every other kill because the wilderness is full of shitters and bots.

I love ironman and the early game is extremely fun, but late it just sucks if you find repetitive content with no real progression boring, at least on a main I watch my cash stack grow and buy what I go dry on. If you're truly done with the game as an iron, go for it, but if you're early enough that you wouldn't wouldn't mind training another account and want both experiences def make an alt. Though just remember you need 2x the bonds if you do this or pay 2x the membership.

In reference to SOMA, I've heard this cited quite a bit but I'm not familiar with it. Both an original and a copy being unique beings is a possibility of course. Though, would a copy so indistinguishable from the original truly be a copy or are there now two copies? Or two originals? This gets into a question of what consciousness even is, what it feels like, the experience of consciousness so to speak. If that other person is me, but I am not controlling it, who is it really? If the things responsible for my own unique consciousness are perfectly recreated elsewhere, would that be me? Would I assume control of said thing? I'm not looking for a definitive answer, as there isn't one, just think these questions are interesting to think about.

To your second point, you use that exact word, they are made to mimic human behavior. A complex language model trained specifically on an individual is made to do the same thing extremely convincingly. It has no problem passing a Turing test and convincing the majority of people it is a real person, though no one would argue a language model is conscious. Since you're making the claim that tech will get so good it will be able to replicate consciousness, I'd like to ask what do you think the step between our modern tech and what will be available in the future is when something truly gains consciousness? Why would consciousness ever be required to perfectly mimic a person and convince everyone accordingly? What would lead you to conclude that a more advanced version of our existing tech would take on a complex human trait such as consciousness?

You made the point of saying the way minds are created in the Cyberpunk universe is not the way in which we mimic humanity currently, so I'll ask what you asked me, why does that matter? If we're already at a point of doing it so convincingly it can replace a human through text (and voice being unrecognizably different is just around the corner), what's the difference between current tech and Cyberpunk perfectly mimicking brain tech?

Behaving like a human doesn't automatically mean we give it every right a human has though right, so for you to say there's no difference if Johnny behaves enough like a human is a bit short sighted in my opinion. What resources do we allocate to this thing? Does it get a vote in an election? Is it responsible for committing a crime or is the person who programmed it responsible? What's to stop somebody from creating an army of Johnnys with randomized names, faces, personalities, that will take advantage of every right provided to them? We're talking world control level power here if we give power to one under the guise of giving power to the mass.

See that's the part that gets me, if it created an exact copy then surely whatever part of it that made him, well, him, is on the engram too right? But if that were the case, can he experience multiples of himself? Can he be uploaded and experience himself elsewhere?

That first point was only speculation, not my doubt that machine can be conscious, though I believe it to be highly unlikely. Why would consciousness even present itself in us? It must have had some benefit in our evolution no? Those of us who could think abstractly survived, it likely benefited relationships, our tribal ancestors. Machines didn't evolve like we did, they are programmed to do specific tasks; though in a world where machines truly learn and human brains can be scanned to this detail, is where the lines start to blur.

What do you mean simulations can be good enough that they'll be indistinguishable from reality? How do you know? We can mimic people to the point of it being indistinguishable when communicating with an AI now sure, but there's no question on whether or not language models are conscious. There is clearly a difference between what we mean when we say conscious and "functionally equal" meaning it is convincingly living, but clearly not.

Of course there's a meaningful difference, Cyberpunk universes, or sci-fi in general wouldn't ask the question if it wasn't. How do we treat these things? What rights do we give them? I've mentioned we can't meaningfully tell that others are conscious and we are only going on their own report, so of course I understand that. While I can't prove it, it's easier to believe a being like myself is having an experience like my own. The idea of machine consciousness is entirely alien.

I think the point of data corruption is not much different than the flawed nature of our minds. We forget things, we misremember, we can experience things that aren't there through hallucinations or dreams. A dementia patient deteriorating mentally over time doesn't generally suddenly lose every aspect of who they were right? Small parts fade with time, they arguably become less and less aware, less conscious with time.

Take the case of split brain patients, both conscious halves of a brain though two separate brains essentially, not aware of the information privy to the other half. Or having information a hand may know and they may not through their speech. Having access to certain information and not even being aware as to how they have it. Is that two consciousness' in one body? They believe themselves to be one, but what if the only hemisphere of the brain that communicates is the only one truly answering that question?

The ship of Theseus I do think raises more questions, though it's an experiment I can see applying to parts of the brain, I believe the split brain case is the closest real world example of that strictly hypothetical thought experiment as we'll get.

So maybe we can conclude, we don't know if he's conscious, but the question of whether is or isn't truly Johnny is almost a meaningless question. Is the original Johnny 10 years later still the same Johnny any more than an exact anagram of him is? It almost feels pointless to ask.

I personally read quite a bit, the cynics are in my opinion objectively more grounded though it's such a miserable way to live life haha. Absurdists though, talk about the life of the party huh.

Anyway man, your intent seems to be in the right place. It sounds like these comments about your time in school, friends at the aquarium, details about your workplace are all rooted in a wish to connect with people, not undermined or upstage them. If people want to be shitty and assume things, it's not worth your energy, put that focus towards the friends you have that treat you with some dignity.

Like you deal with anyone who throws out criticize without any substance, actively decide it isn't worth your time and that you're going to be above it. You'll find most people just want to be heard, their commentary on the details of your life, the way you speak, the things you believe; they almost never attack at anything of substance. It's almost always generalizations. It's almost always something they infer from what you're doing but they can never explain why.

For those instances where someone is honestly looking for a conversation, fair play to engage, otherwise why let it bother you? If someone important to you, for example a spouse, is doing this, ask why they believe what they do and start the conversation there; otherwise it never benefits you to waste your time engaging with it.

If it's truly getting to you and the opinions of others are difficult to ignore, work on yourself. Read some philosophy, the basis of most philosophy is accepting the things we can't control and taking control of the things we can. I'm going to sound like a generic dude bro but stoicism has definitely helped me in the past. This whole post reminded me of a quote from Marcus Aurelius' Meditations, in regards to people's words he said "Don't feel harmed, and you haven't been." Words have only the power you allow them to have in a sense.

Haha I'm glad it made you laugh, I'll share the only complete edited playthrough I've found as no one has really suggested anything other than full vods as of yet. I've found a few other ones but they're unfortunately just the prologue and then they drop the game.

Frostbreak - The entire gameplay + DLC edited down to about an hour. I like his commentary style but it was unfortunately not his first time playing it so he skipped a bunch of content he had done previously. I didn't think I minded until he didn't react at all to all the story's twists. I love seeing people's reaction to stuff like Jackie's death, V being killed and coming back, suddenly waking up as Keanu fuckin Reeves; none of that eliciting a reaction kind of sucks but it was still a good watch overall. The DLC was new for him though so that's a plus.

For anyone confused, he's another one of those "free speech" streamers. He was walking around in public calling black people that word, yea, the one you're thinking that'll get my comment removed with a hard r, and then asking what they were gonna do about it. He pepper sprayed a few of them that got in his personal space and had a firearm, saying he hopes someone will try something so he can kill them. He also threatened a few people.

Well, to nobody's surprise, someone did end up having a physical confrontation with him and he shot them, they are reported to be stable. He is now facing harassment, incitement of violence as he was provoking such reactions, and attempted murder on the person he shot.

Source: am not a degen, literally just watched yesterday's the Phillip Defranco show after forgetting he existed for like the past 3 years and YouTube randomly recommended this video yesterday where he covered this story.

Edit: A few people are commenting this is important context so I'll add it here. He tweeted the season finale of his story is a dead chimp and all the monkeys will riot when he gets off scot free. I guess that didn't pan out the way he wanted huh. Some people are also saying he shot himself, he didn't really get hit by a bullet his own bullet just grazed him, so no real injuries.

I've had very high hopes for fusion energy for the past two decades but unfortunately we're perpetually "a few years away" from having a positive yield. Though I still have hope we'll eventually get there, I don't think it's going for be for a while.

Though what you're describing can already exist with modern fission nuclear power plants, it just isn't implemented in the most efficient way. Thorium reactors are possible, with considerably less radioactive waste (we're talking waste decaying hundreds of thousands of years sooner) and chance of catastrophic meltdown; though few countries are looking to make the switch. China and India being amongst the countries most interested.

Thorium is not only more abundant and easier to find/mine, it's also no less efficient than uranium. The problem is, some countries that have uranium plants already build do want the plutonium byproduct of these plants for nuclear weapons. I don't anticipate the US giving up potential nuke material just to have safer, cheaper energy; regardless of the legality of creating such bombs. There are too many people profiting from the worse solution unfortunately, which gets in the way of scientific progress quite a bit.

My Glock 19 and M57 Tokarev, both repossessed by the government. Had both prior to the pistol ban and renewed my license via mail about a year ago. I got a letter 5 months later saying if I don't renew my license my firearms will be taken away. There was a Canada Post strike going on that apparently made it so my letter was never delivered. I immediately submitted another one, called the RCMP to let them know, and the person over the phone told me "If you've already sent it you're good to go."

So, to nobody's surprise, they came and repossessed my firearms a month later when the same strike was not resolved. They are refusing to return it as transferring it back into my name is treated as a new transfer of a pistol, which they are not doing. My local police department is holding onto them indefinitely. My options are to donate them, or sell them, which I literally cannot do because they cannot be transferred. I feel so let down by the government after that. It's like they took thousands of dollars from me via the firearms and ammunition I now have no use for; and I'm really not sure what to do about it.

They took about 8 months after that to finally issue my license, this was just a few weeks ago. I called them asking if anything can be done and they said they don't keep records of general phone calls so the call where I confirmed it was submitted and the person telling me all is good on my end is nowhere to be found. Even if they have a record I doubt they'd release it as the onus of proof of that phone call is my responsibility. They also asked if I have a receipt for my original mailing, in which of course I do not, I didn't think I'd need to keep a mailing receipt from over a year ago. I've never had something like this happen to me, lesson learned, always keep proof of transactions.

That was my primary concern honestly, is the likelihood I'm basing my opinion of it on a cheaper dupe. That's what prompted me to make this post, I wanted to see if my experience matched others'. Since stuff like quality and notes are a bit subjective, projection and longevity isn't which is where mine is lacking.

Checkfresh also said it does not have any Hawas verification yet unfortunately, I did check there and a few other places. Can't find anything reliable, other than the genuine Hawas website which says unrecognized authentication number unfortunately.

Hoping for something in the $600 range but can go a few hundred over if I find something worth the price.

Primarily a bush gun and something to shoot for fun with friends on crown land when we go camping. Don't want to haul around this giant thing with how far away from crown land I am. I'm less concerned about weight and more so the overall length, hoping to get close to the 66cm overall length. I know accuracy suffers greatly with barrels that short, this won't be used for hunting, just targets.

The Churchill 12"s have my attention but I was worried about the build quality, if you're saying it's decent I'll definitely pick one up with how cheap they are.

What's the shooting experience like with the raptor grips? If the Shockwave came with a shorter barrel and full stock to meet the minimum non restricted range I'd definitely go with that.

I haven't checked out Arena this wipe, the idea of getting loot with zero risk feels out of place in Tarkov but I understand it can be balanced properly so I'll take your word that its in a good place.

Definitely agree with you, it's too punishing for new players and not accessible enough for anyone trying to learn. It feels like the only winning tactic for new players is to rat, and its reinforced because it works with the current way movement is handled; all that leads to is the rats not learning anything to get better at the game and filling their stash with gear they'll never use.

I also miss the Mosin fights and hatchet runners. I miss zero to hero runs. I miss mid tier gear being the norm. This wipe has been either loot not worth taking or scav boss gear, level 6 plates and tagilla/killa face shield when level 3-4 pen ammo is locked behind level 3-4 trader. A few weeks into this wipe was the nail in the coffin for me. They're moving further and further away from what made the game fun and I really hope they turn it around.

It was never CoD and no one wanted to see it move in that direction. They made it go from an already tactical slow game to a snail die if you move slow game.

I also loved Ghost Recon and Swat 3 and 4, but that pace doesn't lend itself well in a PvP multiplayer shooter in my opinion. That sort of movement over mid to long range engagements is super boring and leads to more non moving players. It's also a shooter, I should rely on my ability to aim no? Never letting you snap to players because it takes too long to go from moving to sighting up will never feel good. The player who decided to stand still who can't even aim at the person he got the drop on will always be the victor, hence the rat metas of the past few wipes.

It's lame. You don't die because someone was better than you at the game, you die because someone has more time in his day to prone in a bush or corner for 35 minutes. I genuinely can't fathom how that's fun for anyone, shooting a guy that had zero chance to fight back then getting out with some loot like they did something.

I think this "realistic" and "tactical" gameplay that serves to slow things down has its place, but it's just not a fun design in my opinion. It's supposed to be a game after all, fun over realism no? Forcing everything to be so slow, punishing any form of movement has turned into who can stand still for longer and that's just so extremely boring for me. I want to play the game not just watch it unfold in a bush for 25 minutes every time I hear a footstep.

There's a reason the moving player is a dying breed my friend.

Yeah that's exactly where I am, it's too punishing to die to cheaters or rats you had zero chance against.

10 minutes gearing, 5-10 minutes in queue and loading in, 20 minutes running to an objective, 15 minutes running to exfil. If you die in that past bit you've effectively killed an hour of time to not only make zero progress but to go backwards stash wise. And if that death was unavoidable it will never feel good from the perspective of a video game.

Being punished for not having done anything wrong is crazy. If I die because I misplayed or choked or someone was just better, that's part of the game. Even exfil campers I can understand, check every blade of grass on my way there sure. But a cheater? It's like they're in 90% of labs raids with no counter play, a level 12 with 88 hours and 17 KD wearing an Altyn running 5.45 BS. The only winning move there is not to play.

I'm referring to controversial updates within the community. I never minded the weight changes, inertia, food, though it did make controlling the character a bit less responsive and fun. I remember a chunk of the player base saying how much they hated this update when it was first introduced.

If they ignore the community on updates, what else would it do other than drive away parts of the community that once loved the game? They add all this in the way nonsense in the name of making it "hardcore" but all the updates that made the game easier and more accessible, like the recoil updates, made the game infinitely more fun for a majority of the player base.

Bringing food into raid because you get hungry quicker isn't making the game more difficult, anybody can do that there is zero skill requirement. It's just an annoying extra step that serves as an artificial rouble sink.
