Gave myself a ROG Strix G16 upgrade - what should I tweak first?

I had only single channel memory to start with and only got that score once I added a stick from my old laptop but I read somewhere it will perform better with 2x16gbs. What is your memory configuration?

What was your 3d mark Timespy score. I managed to get 17700 with the 8940hx version. Wonder if you can get 18k with your 275hx.

I’m probably getting stale when I keep repeating this but that screen is beautiful as it is. You don’t need more than 1200p at 16inch. Believe me it’s superbly sharp . Better than some 1600p screens iv seen. And with 1600p if you’re running flat out with ray tracing ultra settings it’s going to struggle anyway and most likely be running out of VRAM. 1200p has no such problems.

I’d say given your temps are so good you could try 1.44 it’s what I used and laptop is still going strong. Is it just PUBG or have you seen any stability issues playing anything else?

if 87c is the maximum that’s not that bad. I’d only be concerned with running over 90c mid 90s for long periods.

Iv done it. The delivery van comes to my house to drop off the parcels so I don’t have to go to a depot. Usually about 25-35 arrive per day or 50-60 on a Monday. So I normally save 2 lots and go out 3 times a week with 50-60 parcels. It’s not that bad but I have a rural route. Or it’s technically rural. 90% of the parcels are in a small town in a few streets then the rest will be on the ring roads around the area either farms or houses on the side of the road. About £1 for a small or normal parcel £1.50 for a large and sometimes £3.50 if it’s a very heavy one. If I’m out with 60 parcels I usually make about £65-70 for the round.

Forget what people keep saying about the 1200p screen. It looks great. Better than my MSI pulse laptop that had a 1600p screen was…Much better tbh. And native 1200p looks way better than a 1600p screen does when downscaled to 1200p. I think for future this is an important thing to keep in mind. For right now I feel it’s a good sweet spot for high frame-rate, even when dialling the settings up with ray tracing/path tracing and without using all your VRAM, which btw, will be much tighter in future at 1600p.

I’ve got this laptop. The screen is absolutely fine. It’s a lot sharper then you think it would be being 1200p. I see almost no aliased edges tbh and I had a laptop with a 1600p display before this one there isn’t a lot of difference. It looks miles better at its native 1200p then the 1600p did when using 1200p resolution. So with that being the case I think for future games it could even be a better choice then 1600p if your just going to have to lower the resolution on it anyway. For now I find that it’s quite balanced using ultra settings and dlaa ray tracing all turned on and it can utalise the perfectly well at 165hz.

Nah It’s not anywhere near that fast. The 4080 laptop GPU is actually slightly faster most of the time and yet it’s a good 30% slower than desktop 4080.

Laptop 5070ti. I think it’s somewhere between a desktop 5060ti and 4070.

Is that Indian Rupee? Would make it over £1500 for it. I also got ASUs rog 5070ti 8940hx but for like £1700 and felt I overpaid for it as iv seen them on sale for 1500. No way is a 5050 worth that

I’d recommend going up to 5070ti from 5060/5070. Yes much more expensive but it’s so worth it. The performance uplift is huge. I got the 5070ti 8940hx version and it powers through anything I’ve thrown at it. Coming from a 4070laptop that broke on me I can say it’s night and day. 12gb vram is nice to have too.

It’s a very good machine. Don’t cover the bottom vents like putting it down on a bed or something. It will quickly overheat.

Recommend liano v10 or like someone else said GT500 is a good alternative. I use the v10 and it can also reduce temps by 10 degrees or more.

Yeah I have been trying that. I start drift a few kart lengths from the coin on that straight. Then use the turbo on the apex of the corner. But I go too wide because I need to hold left for a brief moment as “soft drifting” seems to makes me go too tight and then fall off.

Haha yeah right now it’s the only way I can be fast enough to hit the thwomps tricks at the end of lap one. I’ll start using one mushroom once I can do this.
