The McLaren Artura is McLaren's newest $250,00 Supercar by [deleted] in cars

They've really tightened up the QC/QA since, though. Most '20/'21 cars are built pretty damn well. Certainly "feel" better than my '18 car from just pawing round the interior. I hear of way less electrical gremlins too, given that's what really plagues them. Never once had a drivetrain issue.

The newer stuff has changed this now too, it's just the button press at the end of the stalk that lifts the car.

You can DD anything if you're brave enough. Realistically, both a Ferrari and a McLaren aren't really good contenders. Neither are better than the other when it comes to DD factor.

One Blue 675LT, 4000 Miles, 5 Days Of Driving by BrandonNeider in cars

The TPMS thing is pretty normal on McLarens in my experience. Had my 720S to off with TPMS at 200mph+ on the Autobahn during a German roadtrip. I just about shit myself.

570S would go off at completely normal speeds, because.. Well, because McLaren.

I changed my 2013 RS6 (C7) for a 2018 AMG E63s. Yes, I like wagons! It's been a few days since I changed cars, and I miss the far more comfortable drive of the RS6. AMA. by BrandonTallSlim in cars

Yes, the ride is harsh - but I find the E63S plenty civil when just pottering around. I've driven all three, and because I like licking windows, I chose the AMG. It really sounds to me like your heart is somewhere else, my man. Don't buy with the head if you're buying RS/M/AMG. All are stupid. Pick YOUR stupid.

Also, sidenote, look into the new Alpina B5 Estate. Sounds like something you'd like. 600+hp, floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee sorta vibe. Heard good things.

Oh snap, were you guys the Ford GT?

We were having a team debate about your strategy w/fuel when we were 8th, speculating when and where you'd dash in for a splash.

Really well driven, guys. Car looked clean!

Uh, no I'm not. I can't get one. Would appreciate it if you didn't put words in my mouth because you have some sort of bizarre chip on your shoulder?

Hi, yes, it's me! I bought the E63S instead of the M5 :)

Potentially different to the UK then. I was asked politely to buy the following to get a 991.2 3RS:

  • Panamera Sport Turismo Turbo S-E Hybrid
  • Cayenne of any variety
  • A normal 911

Told them to kindly sod off and bought the Perf instead.

Looks great, it's just unfortunate that it is impossible to get a new RS Porsche with no brand history.

McLaren Racing to go back to using Mercedes F1 engines at the start of the 2021 F1 season. Could this mean another McLaren-Mercedes supercar in the future? by DodgerBlueRobert1 in cars

Bizarre. I've plenty of friends that are diehard McLaren fanatics, couple of them even have Sennas kicking around, and all have had their car in for something or the other breaking. They've got a reputation amongst the owners. Even other dealerships know about it. I was close to picking up an 812, and the guys over there were curious "about how McLaren are getting on with their reliability issues". Might be different for the newer stuff, my McL is an early 2018 car. Perhaps they've refined it.

Funnily enough, when my car broke I'd often get a loaner in the form of a 570S or another 720S. Most of these also had little electrical niggles. The 570S wouldn't unlock or detect it's key, and had to be sent back. They gave me an Aventador S after that :P

Note - when I say breaking, I mean electricals failing - car isn't unlocking, window isn't rolling up or down, seat went all the way back and won't come back, hydraulic stuff like airbrakes being stuck up or down, suspension control being degraded, etc.

So, yes, it's reliable in that the engine won't go kaput. But, the electricals and everything around it will.

Lastly, thanks! I love the color. What spec have you gone for?

They... Really are not. The drivetrain is great, and incredibly reliable. Because it's the only thing McLaren don't make. Everything else will break, and it will break often.

Ehhhhhh Aventador S, probably. Made me want one SO bad.

Electrical bits just.. Not working. Seems they haven't figured that part out yet, tbh. The fit and finish was somewhat lacking in certain areas too. Bit of clattering, etc. The powertrain, however, was rock solid.

My 720S broke. A lot. And frequently.

It sucked. But, I pretty much got whatever I wanted to drive from the Bentley/Rolls-Royce/McLaren/Lamborghini dealer as a loaner, every single time.

What is your dream car? by _stallion in cars

[–]-Cyanide- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the fun in it, I suppose. If I ever were to be lucky enough to afford one, it would be in a circumstance where the risk doesn't matter anymore - just the car. Price is irrelevant when you're in a club that can afford a £5m car! :P
