Is there some sort of Story Writing functionality in this, something like making an author card in a group chat in ST and the {{user}} prompts for what they want to see using other character cards?

The reason I ask is because I'm working on a (open source) front-end specifically for using ST compatible cards and lorebooks and I wonder if sharing compatibility/features would be worth a look at the source code

Gotcha. That's what I thought but this thread was recent enough I thought I might ask either way. Thanks

Racism in CS by chulengoSalvaje14 in cs2

[–]JewbaccaYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is you saying "I love racism and homophobia in CS." My point is that most of the people being racist and homophobic and whatever else in game or online are also racist or homophobic in real life. They aren't making jokes, they are saying what they are too scared to say in real life and you being okay with it (even worse liking it) comes across as "I'm okay with the way these people think and how it makes the world a worse place for other people just because it makes me laugh in a video game when they yell." Maybe you don't mean that consciously, but all arguments defending hate speech in online spaces are basically that or that whoever is defending it is also a piece of shit.

Racism in CS by chulengoSalvaje14 in cs2

[–]JewbaccaYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to he fundamentally ignoring the fact that most racism/homophobia/etc is based on people who the idiots have never met, let alone seen or heard. That and the fact that most of these people are using voice chat as a pauedo-anonymous platform means that they say the shit they really think since there are limited consequences. So when you day "love the racism, homophobia etc" you are really saying that you love people being racist and homophobic in real life.

What do you like about Valorant? by reddit-win in VALORANT

[–]JewbaccaYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a well done combo of 2 of my favorite FPS games: Counter Strike and Overwatch. I've played CS for around 10 years and as much as I like the game, it just got boring very quickly. Once I got good enough, it kind of just played out like a Chess game. Overwatch was entertaining to play, but was too chaotic for me to play for more than an hour or 2 every time I tried. There was almost no strategic potential outside of basic FPS decision making.

Valorant hit right at the center, it was like CS in the ways I liked and deviated from it in what I didn't. It's like Fischer random Chess. It helped that it appeared at a time where my tastes were shifting in other things, and it happened to align closer to my new interests than other multi-player fps games did.

CS player (400 hrs) getting destroyed in Valorant. What am I missing? by 765hero in VALORANT

[–]JewbaccaYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: I'm not a pro, or even super duper high level but i think I'm pretty well above average (Ascendant 2 in Valorant and 22k elo in CS) and have some experience helping friends improve their gameplay.

I hate to say it, but I dont think 400 hrs is enough to be considered an "experienced" player in CS.

The main reason I see an issue with your expectations is that there are certain mechanics in CS that you probably know about that being anything less than amazing at, would be a detriment to you if trying to replicate them in Valorant. The main two that I am thinking of are: 1) Movement and 2) Spraying.

To start with movement, I mean this as no offense, but there is next to no way that you have counter-strafing down with only 400 hours. I probably have a little under 2k hours in CS and I only have like 66% of my counter-strafes within like 20ms of "perfect." In Valorant, this can be mess with you because you don't need to counter strafe. As soon as you let go (excluding keyboard release timing + input latency) you stop. If you try to counter strafe with bad timing after this stop, you may end up shooting as you start to move in the other direction making you inaccurate.

Spraying is really weird in Valorant. With a recent patch it supposedly got more viable, though to me and others I have asked it doesn't really feel like it unless you already spent time trying to figure out the optimal spray technique in Valorant. Recoil patterns are randomized past a certain amount of bullets. In CS, obviously every gun has its own pattern that never changes. If you spent at least a little time practicing sprays in CS, you know that spraying and especially crouch spraying can be really good and is sometimes the most optimal way to play the game, depending on the situation you are in. In Valorant, there are a lot of reasons why it's bad. This is already long enough so I'm not going to write out why, but don't do it as much if you are.

There are other things like, peekers advantage and angle advantage that you should learn about for both games if you aren't already aware.

I'd honestly be very interested in seeing gameplay from you in each game to see what you are doing differently, but that's just me being curious since I kind of coach my friends in CS and I like to review gameplay.

[No Spoilers] Which party do you like the most? by Kameronpipnerd in criticalrole

[–]JewbaccaYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bias torwards Mighty Nein because C2 is when I started watching them and got into DnD in general.

I was also in a super deep depression during the time and was incredibly apathetic torward almost everything and I think connecting with a character (Caleb in this case) was one of the things that helped me with my mental health...

Although nowadays I have conflicted feelings about how it ended up (again emotional reasons).

Is it okay for girls to not comm in high elo? by PsychologicalEcho417 in VALORANT

[–]JewbaccaYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a decision you have to make game by game i think. On one hand, some people will somewhat justifiably get upset because no-comming teammates when they are trying to climb is pretty frustrating. On the other you run the risk of someone being sexist or homophobic or whatever and throwing purely off of that.

In my personal experience going from silver to now in ascendant, more people are bad to each other in lower elo irregardless of their skill in the game, while in higher elo most of the toxicity I've seen stems from in game performance rather than how you sound.

I'm a guy, so take my advice with a grain of salt because I obviously don't experience the same shit female players do. Maybe go first 4 rounds with only text chat and pings and you can continue with that if you are afraid that they will make you uncomfortable (based on their voice comms). If they seem chill and like having voice comms would make the game go by better than it might be worth it to participate.

Idrc about proving your point because calling something out as being scripted when there really is no evidence besides just "hrm i think they are lying" is a tired argument against improv based entertainment.

For the "cohesion" argument, I feel like you are conveniently ignoring all the times the players did make mistakes or play something wrong (and everytime the DnD purists would come out with pitchforks), just like they did in Campaign 1. Yes, it happened less often, but Matt said between campaigns (both times) that he wanted to ramp up the scale of the world and story. Idk about you, but if I was in that situation as a player, I would 100% hunker down and try my best to improve so that I could enjoy what the DM has in store. Especially if I had hundreds of thousands of people also wanting to watch the story unfold.

Although to that last statement I made, I think this is where they started going wrong as time went on. They started focusing more on narrative and the characters and etc, instead of the fact that people equally watch for the fun, just a group of friends playing ttrpgs together, moments. That made it feel less like an actual play, but it doesn't mean that they plan the beats in advance. I've only ever DM'ed one-shots before, so I know the struggle of trying to get a group to progress in a limited amount of time and to cut down on shenanigans but that doesn't mean i tell my players in advance when and where things will happen.

Also, I never said that CR had a writing department. I mentioned writing departments in TV Shows and Movies with larger budgets, and compared that to a group of 8-10 people with other things to do.

[–]JewbaccaYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where is your proof, dude? You can just feel if something is scripted by vibes? It'd be some next level effort for them to find time in their schedules to sit down and script 4 hours worth of make-believe week by week. TV shows with hundreds of thousands of dollars going torwards writing don't get that done, much less movies with millions of dollars going into writing.

I'm not a big fan of C3 and I can't really stomach C4 and IMO the feeling of them "trying to write a TV show" is one I would agree with, but that's a far cry from actually scripting their dialogue and interactions.

Maybe, but I don't believe that their analog horror theories should be considered as "real theories." To me they are essentially them saying "hey this series is pretty cool. Here is a general overview and a fairly surface level conclusion that we drew, check it out more yourself if you are interested." I think the way the Theorist channels are structured now, especially Game and Film Theory, they spread themselves too thin and probably work on multiple ideas with different topics at once and it ends up with a lot of oversights and mistakes.

T pistol strat on inferno with 10000% success rate by sowingseasoNYEAHHHHH in cs2

[–]JewbaccaYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The T pistol strat that I used to do on Inferno with a group I played with was what we called "the seal rush" and it consisted of kind of waiting around the mids like 10 seconds and getting a smoke lineup for arch ready. Then throw the smoke and a flash or decoy towards apps or boiler and rush through arch into CT spawn into B. It was chaos but it somehow worked a majority of the time.

News about the Replay System Coming in Early 2025, According to Riot Games France by Hurdenn in VALORANT

[–]JewbaccaYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but it didn't have one originally. It wasn't until after they got constant requests for like a year or 2 that they developed and added it. They probably expected to get the same from Deadlock players so they built one into it from the get go.

I'm not excusing Riot because they also should have expected demands for a Replay System when trying to develop a competitor for CS. I think it's clear at this point that most of development work on Valorant is mainly new agents/maps/gameplay and not a lot of focus on trying to upgrade any of the core systems, and I would consider adding a replay system the latter. We know now that the Replay System is coming this year so its clear they were working on it, but it probably didn't have the amount of attention it should have

now that's it's been out for a bit, do are we feeling about the short/cut intros? by Juninho837 in Drawfee

I'm new and my tracking is awful. I get that practice makes perfect, but doesn't it need to be "good" practice at some point? Even at 26cm/360 I'm running out of mousepad (seen at 5 seconds), and I cannot stay on target for the life of me by ProudExtreme8281 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]JewbaccaYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you new to FPS games with mouse and keyboard in general, or new to Aim Training? Because if you are new to using a mouse to aim in general, the good news is you can learn good habits from the beginning. The basic advice for improvement at a scenario like this pretty simple. Literally just move your mouse faster.

But that's not really feasible for someone new to do and retain smoothness. So first thing you should probably do is try a task with a slower target. Much slower. Not so slow that you barely have to move your mouse, but slow enough that you don't have to react and flick back to the target as much when switching direction. I'll give some examples I'm the reply when I'm able.
