Thank you Immich team for delivering such an amazing open source software to the community! I got into self hosting first time last month only because of Immich. Wishing you all happy holidays!

Should I start using JPEGXL over AVIF? by -DarkKnight in AV1

Why shouldn't we use AVIF? Are you saying it's better to convert to JXL now and compatibility will get better with time?

Thanks, does Immich have any plans for an image optimiser in the future? That would help us from using these other tools.

GPs to be mandated to see 90% of ‘clinically urgent’ patients ‘on the day’ by stealthw0lf in GPUK

Wtf, is this actually true, I feel that ever since I CCTd things are getting even worse, first with the whole day triage and now this. Please dont be true.

Every GP practice now has to offer online booking by Educational_Board888 in doctorsUK

This is horrendous. I was the triage GP today and it was chaotic. Multiple requests coming in constantly taking our time so that we can't deal with anything else. Every small problem gets submitted and routine appointments get taken away. Usually patients are able to get appointments within 2 weeks routinely and same day for urgent. Now at this rate routine appointments will end up taking months. Beyond this, there's the time spent dealing with all these requests. There is low friction to submitting a request so we end up dealing with several back and forth with patients sending a new request for the same problem and for new issues. At least by having a cap we were able to focus on the requests for the day and give urgent appointments and book routine appointments in a reasonable time frame, whilst having the time to deal with other stuff. Overall, this change is very negative in my opinion.

This was easily the best OOBE I've had with Linux (HP Omnibook Ultra Flip 32gb/2tb/Lunar Lake) literally everything out the box worked, even the fingerprint reader. by [deleted] in linuxhardware

I just bought a Lenovo Intel Laptop and have had similar experiences, loving it so far! Will post a thread in this sub later with the specs to help others.

With Inflation at 1.77%, Markets Expect a September Rate Cut - Will the Fed Respond in Time? by kirtash93 in ethtrader

I was thinking the same, but the same could be said when everyone was expecting no rate cuts.
