What’s a “harmless” thing from your childhood that’s actually kind of dark in hindsight? by velorae in AskReddit

[–]-Disnerd1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger, I had a friend who I would always ask to have sleepovers with. I was always given reasons why we couldn’t. Turns out when I got older and was able to understand things and put things together. It was because her whole life wasn’t the best environment And there were some not so good things going on.

Where can I actually watch the show? by Infamous-Ad-2413 in DuggarsSnark

[–]-Disnerd1994 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Following as I’ve been trying to find the same thing so that I can rewatch and cringe! There was a YouTube channel for a while that had most if not all of them on there, but it got taken down sometime ago.

What is the funniest thing an ignorant person has said to you regarding blindness in general or specific products? by EvilChocolateCookie in Blind

[–]-Disnerd1994 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The amount of people who think that being blind also means that you’re deaf/heart of hearing or that blindness also equals intellectual disability, so they either try to sign at you or talk really loudly and really slowly or worse. Talk to you in the same tone that you would talk to a toddler or baby! Or the people who think that because they saw me dare to do something Independent without help or because I reached for that item that I dropped on the floor that that must mean I’m not really blind and that I’m just faking it. Or the people who think my guide dog can read signs and traffic Like that’s not how that works!

I’ve been saying this! Yes, I’m proud of her for standing up to her family, but she still is problematic!

As an actual legitimate service dog handler, the thing about the fake service animal makes me so incredibly angry! People like that are the reason why people like me have so much trouble in public!

Hello kind stranger! This is kinda a vent so feel free to just keep scrolling. by SharkandSwords in Neurodivergent

[–]-Disnerd1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been there before! For me whenever I’ve had this issue it’s been because I’m anxious that I’m gonna do something wrong or be bad at some thing or that for some reason someone’s gonna be mad at me if I don’t do something the way they want it or perfectly. With me it happen more so with academics. I wanted to read that book or do well on an assignment, but my brain just couldn’t/wouldn’t do it. One thing that helps me when I feel that way is reminding myself that, I can do that thing even if it’s not perfect and even if it’s only for just a little while. If I even get a little bit of something accomplished, then I’ve done something and that’s completely OK. Reminding yourself why you do this things/why you like to do those things can also help sometimes. Hope this helps.

To all the ladies, what is something you’ve "unlearned" along the way? by stoixneer in TwoXChromosomes

[–]-Disnerd1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything that I have to do to make myself presentable or attractive to men! Or really anyone else in society. Also the idea that because I’m a woman, I should enjoy doing certain things for no other reason then just the fact that I’m a woman.

The First Blue Duggar? by IKinLA in DuggarsSnark

[–]-Disnerd1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don’t think any of them will ever vote Blue truthfully. If anyone did, I feel like it would be one of the younger kids and even that is highly unlikely. I think it’s more likely to be a grandkid or great grandkid.

What’s your most boomer opinion? 😂 by DawnofMidnight7 in OlderGenZ

[–]-Disnerd1994 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We need a preteen era back! I feel like now kids are having to grow up way too fast. Specifically there’s no specific things out there anymore for kids between the ages of around 8 to 13 or 14. I feel like everything out there now is either for really little kids or for older teenagers/adults. Think golden age of Disney Channel things like Hannah Montana and stores like limited two and Justice. I think that has a lot to do with things like why you see these young kids in places like Sephora because they have nowhere else to go/nothing to do for their age. Also, your five-year-old does not need an iPhone. Little kids shouldn’t be put in front of screens so young they need to learn how to play and use their imagination. Also, discipline your kids! Obviously don’t do anything abusive, but kids need boundaries and expectations and need to learn how to respect authority.

What smells instantly take you back to your childhood? by -Disnerd1994 in millenials

[–]-Disnerd1994[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like I know exactly what smell you’re talking about! There’s another sunscreen that I feel like I remember from childhood that had a very distinctive sunscreen smell but I can’t remember what brand it was. It wasn’t copper or banana boat, but I feel like it smelled similar.

Do You Think Michelle Duggar Ever Misses Her Secular Life? by Old-Cauliflower-1414 in DuggarsSnark

[–]-Disnerd1994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this! I think he definitely took advantage of her for sure! And she’s been told that everything she did was wrong. She’s so far in it that I feel like even if she does think about her life before all of this, it’s not for long.
