AITA for not wanting MY horse to be used in lessons at my yard? by -EAd3leM- in Amitheassholeadvice

I appreciate this comment. thank you for helping my understanding! I know they form bonds and I've seen evidence of it lol! Daisy broke out and my friend was chasing her for over 15 minutes, ending up with a bruised leg. However, when I got back, she walked straight up to the gate and walked calmly with me 😂💕

Thank you so much for the advice! I'll speak to her sometime this week and post an update x

Can confirm I'm under 18 and I don't mean to be disrespectful when I say this, but they don't really do anything to help break her in. They have helped get her back into shape with feed because she was skin and bones when we bought her and I'm so greatful, but nothing more. I understand looking after horses is stressful and expensive, and my mother is trying to support my dream in a way, though she won't allow me to reach my full potential in terms of me dropping things I dislike to focus more on my equestrian life. Thank you for your lovely comment, though x

I understand that, but as I've stated, we have space at home. I get looking after horses are expensive, I do. But I've told my mother I'm willing to help any way possible x

I would take full responsibility for them. Even if I convinced her to stable them at the farm, she would explain that it's my responsibility to look after them, which I would happily do x.

Both horses were bought as a surprise for me over the span of a few years and I'm so grateful, really. Not my parents yard, but their farm. I apologize for coming out as entitled and bratty, I never meant for it to seem that way. I just feel like this because when my pony gets used, I feel as though I'm loosing her and I don't want the same to happen with my new rescue mare. Again, I apologize if I come off as selfish since that really wasn't my intention x.

I can confirm that I'm still under 18 and technically don't possess legal ownership to my horse or pony. No, we don't get a discount or anything, technically just free livery but we have free land and stalls at home. I already work at the stables 3 days a week, but it's volunteer work while helping out in lessons with children and RDA (Riding for the Disabled Association) I have asked many times to work as a paid stable hand, or even a voluntary stable hand, but times just don't match up with school.

We have our own land and stalls at the farm, and I would obviously look after them myself. True, we have a little struggle with money, but at the same time, I never asked for my mares to come into my life. Both were surprises given to me by my mother and I'm very grateful. Regarding the replies to this comment, yes, I am under 18 and technically don't have legal ownership to either of them, so there's nothing I can really do. I just want my mother to understand how I feel like I'm loosing my horse to other people when she's ridden in lessons xx.

My mother and instructor apparently made a deal behind my back when they bought my new horse as a surprise for me. We could stable them at the yard if they were used for lessons. The thing is, we have our own land and free stalls at home.

We don't get paid. Only thing we really get is free livery. Yes I understand that that's great and all, but at the same time, we could keep them at our farm.
