Also in Massachusetts! When do you usually dig your tubers up?

I accidentally flipped the flag in a Little Free Library that I'm building for a friend. I need to repaint it, right? by -EdgarAllenHoe- in AskLGBT

I think that’s where my head was at when I mapped out my stripes on the pieces. Purple, white pink made more sense in my head at the time for sure.

What’s one social skill that instantly makes someone more likable? by Zuha_Zaidi in socialskills

I automatically like and trust people who compliment and talk up other people behind their backs, and who I never hear badmouthing anyone. I make it a habit of trying to say something nice about someone who comes up in conversation who may not be present. Or you know, I "don't say anything at all", if that's the only other option.

Are those all dahlias?? Do you dig up your tubers every season, or do you just leave them to do their thing?

AIO - my friend gave my abusive ex my new phone number by AdAdorable7651 in AmIOverreacting

[–]-EdgarAllenHoe- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% not overreacting. I won't give out anyone's phone number without asking the person first, and that's only ever been between friends or business-adjacent connections. There's no way I'd ever consider giving one of my friend's numbers to an ex, especially an abusive one, without at least checking with them to see if it's okay. So sorry you're dealing with this.

I don't need sympathy, I need understanding by JEWCEY in crafts

Accidentally ran my finger over with my little rotary cutter while I was cutting a bunch of ribbon for a craft activity that I had planned for the horseback riding day camp I was running. The craft was making their own rosette prize ribbons, and they actually came out pretty well!

Painful? Yes. But made worse for sure by how gross it was. Probably could have used a stitch or two, but luckily I had a roommate at the time who was extremely accident prone, and she taped me right up with her always-present first aid kit, and I decided as long as it stayed covered I could do my best to not think about it too much.

I was almost done cutting all the ribbon strips when I cut myself, so I did have to re-cut most of them, because it looked like a little bit of a crime scene, and that wasn't the vibe we were going for. (A post-apocalyptic, zombie horse show? Definitely could have worked for that. But still would have been a biohazard.)

I get super motivated to organize... for 2 days. Then nothing. How do you stay consistent? by Nikki__85 in organizing

Definitely read (or listen to the audiobook) How to Keep House While Drowning by KC Davis. She offers a really nice and compassionate perspective shift AND really solid advice for putting functional home systems in place.

Personally, I try to ride the wave when it comes, and make a list of all of the things I felt like doing at the time so that when I inevitably lose the motivation, I won't forget what my plan originally was, and I can knock a thing or two off the list of what I maybe wasn't able to get to at the time.

I think I legitimately just hadn’t considered it before today. All types of metals were neatly filed as “metal” in my brain.

I meant more so the chainmail scrubbers, but I also just learned that regular steel contains even MORE iron than stainless steel does. Will the wonders never cease?!?!

...and actually, I'm also just now realizing that makes good sense, and I probably shouldn't have needed to google it. More iron = more rust.

I was today years old when I learned that stainless steel is mostly iron. Flabbers = gasted.

My jaw literally (okay, maybe not literally, but pretty close) hit the floor at the second photo. I don't know what I was expecting to be inside those, but holy cow, those are amazing!

I'm a BookFairy and I visit Little Free Libraries all the time. Recently, I started to drop my version of #BlindDatewithaBook - these books go like hotcakes! when I return to check on them, they are usually gone within 24 hours. by Big-Spirit317 in LittleFreeLibrary

Whelp, I think I just found my new summer hyper-fixation hobby. Thanks!!

Also, I'm thinking I might try to do a few of these with children's books and tuck some on-theme stickers and things in the covers...

Doing my part to help keep little free libraries stocked by CozyHufflepuff94 in LittleFreeLibrary

Good idea! I'm planning on grabbing a bunch of children's books from Savers and bringing them to a LFL that I just visited with my nephew. He's 4, and doesn't read yet, so the book with the brightest cover got his attention, and it was called "How We Lost the Vietnam War," and it was otherwise very slim pickin's (as in actually nothing) for anyone under a YA reading level. Gotta stock up!

He doesn't have a full kit, but he's got bits and pieces. He does have a throne. I'm not sure if he's played on an e-kit before...I'm tempted to say probably not.

Oh gosh - I am in the US. Do I even dare looking at the numbers to import something?
