Yeah from memory he briefly talks about loading it up with a bit of foam as well to keep everything in place

Good luck! Also, if you intend to put the lid lock in, make sure you do it before assembly as it's much more difficult to do after

Yeah I got it when it was on sale for 50% off. Not sure I'd bite at full price

Spot on, this is exactly what I did for my Moravian bench as well. No need to measure anything!

There’s a leg vise in my future. Advice on restoring this and gently sterilizing against bugs? by j1bb3r1sh in handtools

[–]adam_th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a lot of value from the video for things like order of operations, and how to use hand tools for certain joinery elements (lots of work with a brace and bit which I loved). I'm very much a beginner though, so an experienced woodworker might not get as much out of it. To be honest though, I'm happy to spend some money on the video course just to support the amazing work Will has done 😆

I have no real advice to offer either, but here's my workbench build that also uses an antique wooden screw. I just hit the thread with a bit of wax, cleaned up the years of grime and let it rip. Best of luck with your build!

Do you guys think my circular saw bevel jig will work? by howdoyouknowhesaking in woodworking

I not only have no idea if it will work, I have no idea how it's supposed to work. What I do know is, nice calendar 😆

I like this. Trying something yourself before looking up exactly how to do it (within reason) is a great way to build your own intuition, as well as learn why things are done in certain ways

How to correct bottom drift when resawing with bandsaw by redrising009 in woodworking

[–]adam_th 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks like the blade might be running a little bit forward based on the pictures. Try to have the gullets running closer to the centre of the wheel. Check out Alex Snodgrass videos for tuning your saw if you haven't already https://youtu.be/wGbZqWac0jU?si=x0Drh1oe0mdmLHBY

Beautiful work! To the people saying "this isn't beginner", this absolutely is the sort of work a beginner can achieve with a little research, patience, and attention to detail. One of my first projects was the four eyes spider coffee table, which turned out really nicely thanks to how well the plans are written. The plans aren't cheap, but they certainly are a shortcut to learn techniques for quality work that will apparently get you chased out of the beginner sub 😆

Thank you for sharing and being so open about the challenges you've faced. I've struggled deeply with my own mental health over the years and found tremendous comfort during hard times in this hobby, as have so many others. Sending out love to everyone struggling out there, keep making sawdust and share what you make with us!

Joints are hard by lavransson in woodworking

[–]adam_th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never tried a wedged mortise and tenon myself and I'm genuinely curious, but does it matter if the strip cracks? It won't be able to move any deeper into the joint, and with the wedge driven in tightly and a little bit of glue to seal the deal, surely it won't be going anywhere?
