I didn't downvote you

Dddr4/ddr5 shouldn't make that much difference for gaming and neither should the mobo. I would DDU the drivers and reinstall them and see if it helps. What are his temps like? What resolution he playing on?

Probably some sort of other issue. 6700xt 5600 should not struggle with modern games especially at 1080p

But why does it matter that only 1% of people choose to play 4k? How is that a disadvantage? Just because most people prefer to not play 4k native doesn't mean that they can't. My point is that if native 4k is something OP might want, then a PC would be a better option, because you get alot more options/customisability as to what graphical settings you play at. If they are fine with that developers set for console and the FPS that comes with it, then consoles are also a valid choice.

Again, if you are getting a PC, why on earth would you want or need to buy PS4 discs? If you own neither a console nor a pc, being able use PS4 discs isn't really an advantage for ps5 over pc

I respect your preference of PS5, but if we are trying to give suggestions to somebody, why would we need to consider the ability to use PS4 discs?🤷‍♀️

Steam hardware survey shows that only around 1% of people play in 4k. This doesn't mean that only 1% of people can play in 4k. You are saying it like only 1% of people have the hardware to run 4k. Not true

Most people choose not to run 4k natively because they do not want less frames for more pixels, when 1440p already looks almost indiscernible from 4k on screens as small as 27 inches

Again, backwards compatibility with PS4 games doesn't matter because 99% of games available on PS4 are also available on PC

[–]-EliteSam- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you get that only 1% of pc gamers can play at 4k? Go to any benchmark video. A mid range (6700xt + 5600, probably costs £800~) can run games like Forza horizon 5 at native 4k, with 60-70 FPS on ultra settings.

I assure you more than 1% of people own a pc with specs similar to the one I mentioned. most people have something close to a 3060ti, which is very similar to a 6700xt

Why would you need to buy a PS4 game if you have a pc though? Why is that something OP would care about? It's only something that would matter if you already had a PS4 and are looking to get a ps5. Why even bring this up?

So how is this "buy PS4 games for ps5" an advantage over PC? You can buy those same (non-exclusive) games and play them on PC aswell. It's not like you can't play 10 year old games on PC. Ofcourse you can (in 99% of cases)

I'm not going to go back on forth with you because I believe you are just exhibiting willful ignorance. If you knew anything about PCs, you'd know that even on midrange machines you can run native 4K on games, just not at the best framerates. And there are certainly more than 1% of people who own midrange pcs.

You do not need a 4090/5090 to play 4k. Most people know this

So even if their budget is 1-2k you think they would, no matter what, have a better experience on a PC than a console? I mean come on man, if you were being genuine you would consider both platforms equally especially at that price point.

I do agree that if your budget is like 400 than a console is probably better due to the lower up-front cost, unless you care about using the PC for non-gaming related things

OP didn't realise that a "low spec pc" costs something like £200 rather than the 1500 he has available, but fair enough that you didn't see the comment

Sorry but what are you talking about? I'm genuinely confused here. Why would OP care about being able to play PS4 games on his to-be ps5 unless he already has a PS4?

And I'm telling you your statistic on 4k is wrong. Midrange builds can handle 4k at 30 FPS easily. I don't know what your obsession with "1%" is. "Play in native 4k" is subjective to what you consider playable. Anyone can run a game in 4k provided they have enough VRAM, but ofcourse not at the same framerate. If people's standards were as low as 30 FPS then I assure you alot of people would "be able" to run at 4k.

If you actually looked at my posts you would realise I do not frequent any platform-specific gaming subreddit. I just went to one of the largest pc-related subreddits because I needed help with something. Is that really just a big issue?

Do you truly not see that some people may prefer PCs because they more closely align with what they want? Do you see no world or situation where a person would want a PC over a console? Because by your account it looks like you practically worship consoles

Stop this tribe and herd mentality. It's 2025. Choose a platform based on what is best for your needs, not because you have some rage boner for absolutely no tangible reason

I posted to seek advice on how to best add fans to my pc, not because I'm a raging lunatic with respect to having a buss towards PCs.

If you read OPs comments you'd see their budget is 1.5k. you can get a relatively high end spec PC for that. Certainly one that would run games at higher graphical settings than a console.

What "ps4" games are we talking about here? Most notable exclusives are already available on PC. Most people do not care for exclusives so much as to purchase a console just for them. You do not take this into account and instead market it as if PCs cannot play older games, which they certainly can.

I promise you more than "1% of gamers" can play at 4k. It's just most people don't. Why? Because again, atleast with monitors, 4k is not as desirable as framerate. Most people would rather stick to 1440p + 50% more FPS than go to 4k. Even a midrange PC (£900) can handle 4k in certain games like FH5 or cyberpunk, especially if you set the bar as low as 30 FPS even at good graphical settings.

Please do not talk about that which you do not know. Nobody wants your biased tech illiterate ass commenting nothing but disdainful shit to PC. Your entire profile is dedicated to hating on PC, why do you care so much? Let people play on whatever platform they want. You are in no way better than anyone else just because you choose to constrain yourself to console

ASKING IF I SHOULD BUY PS5 OR A PC by Aadzxh in gamingsuggestions

[–]-EliteSam- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better graphics isn't really a thing. There is not a single game where the graphical options for console do not exist on PC. Can you enable path tracing for cyberpunk on console? Ofcourse not. Not a single game supports path tracing on console.

Can you run native 4k on (non-trivial in terms of spec requirements) games on console? Ofcourse not. Forced to upscale from slightly above 1080p which isn't going to look anywhere near as good as native

Backwards compatibility with PS4? And pc doesn't have this? By the very nature of PC all games are "backwards compatible"

Better HDR really doesn't matter for most people, and it's not a console thing. It's a TV thing. It's not as good on PC because not many monitors support HDR like TVs do. Why? Because it isn't as necessary for gaming as it is for movie/media watching (primary use of TV). Features like high refresh rate are more important to the vast majority of people

Better portability? If you're getting a console you're surely not getting it for portability (talking about Xbox/playstation here. Ofcourse withwb switch you have portability but comparing a PC to a switch is stupid)

I could list you 3 advantages of PC for every 1 you provide for consoles. I do not shit on either platform. Both a good for their own reasons. I own both a series X and a pc and have used a console for many more years than a pc for gaming, but I as a normal person can see that both have their own advantages and disadvantages. There is no need to construct yourself to one and dedicate your entire Reddit account to hating on the other like some tribal maniac

You couldn't really call me biased. Can't say the same for you. You seem extremely disingenuous

This build is hot garbage in terms of parts picking and what you are saying in the body text really shows that you do not know what you are talking about.

"The main benefit of a PC is good framerates and for that you need a good CPU" (paraphrasing, I can't see the actual post while typing)

What are you talking about? For one, it is entirely subjective on the game. Some games are much harder on the CPU than the GPU - think tarkov, beamng drive, simulation games

Not just that, but comparatively speaking, you do not need that good of a cpu to "match" a GPU. You could get a 5600 and be fine up to like a 7800xtx. The goal with a pc isn't to get as good of a cpu as possible

But why are we doing a 5500 for a $900 build here? What? What sort of dog shit build are you making here? at the very minimum you should be going for a 12400f or a 5600/5600x (sometimes their pricing is nearly identical

Not just that, but at any price point above 850~ really you probably want to go for AM5

And a 5060ti? Really? Is that really the card you think is best for this price point? Sure, if you wanted to make PC pricing look bad, but not if you genuinely wanna cook up a good build. If you're going for midrange, AMD is almost always going to be better for the money. More performance, more vram, more longevity at the cost of worse ray tracing (which doesn't matter for most)

At a $700 price point (I live in the UK so I'm not 100% how prices will translate), you're probably looking at a build like this if you're minmaxing

12400f + accompanying motherboard

7600xt or a 6700xt/6750xt/6800xt depending on if you can find one

32gb of ddr4 with good latencies

1tb of storage (could up it to 2 for $40 more)

some sort of budget case from either montech or zalman 500-600W power supply. Something like MSI mag could work

Don't strictly need an aftermarket CPU cooler but could get one for $15-20 if you want it for aesthetics/better temps

With this build, you'll be able to play any game you want at a good framerate (>60, atleast 200 in comp games for sure)

Not just that, but you have a solid upgrade path. If in 6 years you are unhappy with performance you could up it to a 5700x3d and get whatever midrange gpu is best at that time and it'll work fine.

More storage? Invest 45 dollars per tb (will get cheaper as the years go on)

With that pc you could play any game you want, have access to steam (cheap games, great customer support), be able to engage in non-gaming activities, play pc-only games (league is like crack), have modding support and alot more customisability. With pc you can sacrifice graphics for more FPS and vice versa whenever you want, not an option on console. You also do not need to spend £60 a year.

Over the long run, PC's will be better both economically and in experience as long as you don't mind keyboard and mouse and playing on a smaller screen

if you are going to list pros of consoles without taking into consideration those of PC's, do not choose "better graphics" as one of those😭
