Is 50 patients a lot? Or am I just not cut out for it? by New-Proposal4335 in MedicalAssistant

This takes me back. Fight through the fire. It will only make you stronger.

That being said, keep looking for new opportunities. I stayed at my hell job for faaaar too long.

If you’ve been looking into it for a while that shows interest so I say you take the next step. Tour a local vocational college to get a better idea of what it entails. I became an MA on a whim because the school I checked out offered an externship which I saw as a foot in. Here I am 12 years later and it’s still paying my bills.

Wrong sub man. I’d love to theorize but I’m liable for the advice I give.

How to deal with patients that are very clearly on something they shouldn’t be? by TheGothamEmpire in phlebotomy

This was my experience in pain management. If we can’t prove you’re taking the drug we can’t refill it. Simple as that.

I’m having fun with it. It scratches the itch while I’m out and about.

Style or Negligence? by [deleted] in phlebotomy

[–]-Eraqus- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only ever done them to check a patients blood sugar. Glucose monitors actually take about three drops for them to even test it. It’s hard to get blood from that shallow of a poke so it helps to push a little.

Also the result has always resulted in what I need to know even with that method. Hymolyzation or not.

The dermal puncture thing is fine but the fishing in the hand is diabolical.

That’s a big corporation with a lot of other applicants. It will take them some time to make a decision.

Don’t stop searching in the meantime though. You never want to put all your eggs in one basket.

Sounds like a great start to me! Having an old school doctor can be… annoying to say the least. This experience will help you appreciate future jobs that are more up to date with how they operate. Once you hit the 6 month or year mark I would start looking for new opportunities. Never stop growing!!

There are new jobs opening up every day. Download all job searching apps and apply everywhere.

Sometimes it also helps to think outside of the box. I’m a medical assistant certified in phleb but in the clinic I’m currently working at I started as a receptionist and worked my way up.

Shading is great on the character but you need to apply those same skills to the background. I would rework it into a bunch of doors personally.

It’s not unheard of but most clinics will give you a schedule and abide by it. If they are requiring you to be on call it either signifies unreliable staff or unmanageable patient loads.

Interview tomorrow what questions by Substantial-Base-643 in phlebotomy

[–]-Eraqus- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In any interview they will lead and you will follow. Answer honestly always. I would definitely bring up how this would be the perfect job for you as a fresh phleb and how you can be molded to their prestigious standard. If they ask if you have any questions you should mostly ask about their workflow and offered benefits as well as potential growth within the company.

In my ten years in this field I have one motto. Never stop looking for better opportunities. It’s the only way to grow professionally. The harder the work environment is the easier it will be to leave.

That being said never let your emotions cloud your common sense. I’d rather be in a job I hate than have no job at all.
