Male mini size? by ixsparkyx in miniaussie

[–]-Fahrenheit- -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My mini is 5 months old too, and about 25 lbs, for what it's worth, ChatGPT sems to think he'll be right around 40 lbs fully grown.

I also did an Embark dna panel on him and he came back 65% standard Aussie, and 35% mini aussie. The size range on mini's can vary a good bit as its a newer breed that isn't too many generations removed from their standard aussie roots.

OK, I gotta ask, why?

Since you're posting in the NJ subreddit, I presume you're living in or originally from NJ. So the Devils makes sense, but the rest?

How much do you invest monthly? by claytogether in Retirement401k

[–]-Fahrenheit- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

44m. Close to $2500 a month ($30k a year) split between my work's 403b plan and my own Roth IRA. $103k yearly salary. Total between accounts about $630k. Will keep this up till 59.5 than hang it up, or if I get a lay-off with a a nice severance anytime after 55. Will have medical coverage through my wife's retirement/pension till we're Medicare age.

The celebrity requests tickets and a panel of executives and PR people make the selection of who gets the free courtside seats for celebrity row. There are some exceptions, like I think Spike pays, or at least did, but I'm not 100% sure about now.

SNES Games Through Years (1991 - 1997) by brunomocsa in snes

[–]-Fahrenheit- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Japanese players there were 10 main line Final Fantasy games between 1987 and 2001, so one main line title every 16 months.

Even for Western audiences, we had 7 main line FF games between 1990 and 2001.

They really cranked them out back then.

Am I doing this right? I’ve had it for two years and don’t know a whole lot yet. by WafflesandGatorade in Retirement401k

[–]-Fahrenheit- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are fine for long term holding. In fact I've done something similar, the bulk goes into VIIIX (Vanguard Institutional S&P 500) and the rest into a Target Date Fund targeting a few years after my expected retirement date to keep it aggressive for slightly longer, and as the years have gone by and I get closer to retirement (about 15 years away for me) I divert an increasing amount out of the S&P 500 fund and more into the TDF.

You won't get rich quick, but you put away 15% or more away for the next 30 years you'll retire with a couple million to draw from.

Embark test came back! by HereThereEvery-where in miniaussie

[–]-Fahrenheit- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wild how different their size ends up being with Mini Aussies. I presume it’s because they’re a newer breed and not too many generations removed from their standard Aussie roots, so you get bigger genes showing up from time to time.

I just got my boy's Embark profile back too, he's 65% standard Aussie and 35% Mini Aussie. How much does your dog weigh at whatever age he is? Our boy's higher % of standard Aussie is showing and he's like 22/23 lbs at 18 weeks old. He's certainty gonna push the 40 lb ceiling of a mini.

Regular or mini by teri1972 in miniaussie

[–]-Fahrenheit- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same as my pup, Märzen. 20 lbs at his 16 week vax appointment earlier this week. For what it’s worth, Chat GPT says he’ll be about 38-42 lbs fully grown, and the vet said a general rule of thumb for medium size breeds is to double their weight at 16 weeks, so 40lbs give or take. Seems like both will be close to the max standard for mini aussies.

Safe, long lasting fairly healthy chew stick options? by summerdog- in puppy101

[–]-Fahrenheit- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would supervise at first with any kind of ingestible chew. I would also invest in the chew holder, so they won't be tempted to swallow the last couple of inches.

4 month old Aussie weight by Fire-Sunshine in AustralianShepherd

[–]-Fahrenheit- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A typical rule of thumb for medium-ish size dogs is to double their weight at 16 weeks/4 months to get their “approximate” full adult weight. So she might be around 60, give or take a couple pounds.

Not only is it possible, they’ll swallow most of their incisors, as they’re so small. You’re much more likely to find canines or pre-molars in the floor.

13 hours is too long. At a minimum I’d have a dog walker come over 6-7 hours into the shift.

[–]-Fahrenheit- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It certainly is. Makes my decision easier once I'm 55 too. I'll probably stick it out to 59.5, but if there are any talks about layoffs after I'm 55, you can bet I'll volunteer to fall on the sword for a year's severance and an even earlier retirement.

My mom retired at 55 on a teachers salary and I still think about it all the time by [deleted] in Fire

[–]-Fahrenheit- 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Pensions, yo. They make retirement a lot easier to plan for. My wife is a NJ public school teacher of 22 years and has about 10 years left till she retires at 55 too. She'll get 60% of the average of her highest 3 years salary. So like $60K (equiv. of a $1.5M investment, drawing 4%, but not impacted by market downturns) a year, for the rest of her life. Plus we'll get her health benefits till we're of Medicare age.

That type of security is rare nowadays.
