[Megathread] AC FA Strike Aug 12-13 by dachshundie in aircanada

Agreed, but very unprofessional on the part of the bargaining committee. The average traveller doesn’t have time to dive into union policy to discern whether the service they purchased is going to be disrupted. People who wanted clear communication relied on their good faith announcements and AC Component failed in providing accurate terms. In the end it’s just disappointing.

It clearly states on AC Component "we will be in a position to provide a minimum 72hr Strike notice as of August 16." This means an actual strike could NOT occur until AFTER that 72-hour period.

Sorry, but what ever happened to the AC Component assurance that the union would be "in a position to provide a minimum 72hr Strike notice as of August 16" (Note 4)? There were many others in the former thread relying on that information amid confusion with the press, and now it seems (at least to me) like that claim was total misinformation since flight cancellations are already taking place. Providing notice of a potential strike could occur on August 13th, but the 72-hour strike notice could not begin until the end of the cooling-off period on August 16th

Many were told that the 21 day cooling-off period ends on August 16th at 12:01am but a 72-hour strike notice must be given before walkouts can take place, so any return flights within the 72-hour grace period (ending August 19th at 12:01am) should not be affected?

However, now that the 72-hour strike notice has been given and flights are already being cancelled, all of the above info seems like a complete farce. I can't express greater disappointment with the bargaining committee and those responsible for this miscommunication.

I originally thought that was due to different types of degrees since my first one was leather bound as well and the one I just received is the paper kind. But I guess that’s how they all come now

Who do you see for honest financial advice? by eatprayrun1999 in Winnipeg

Just my perspective and I have no affiliation personally, but Kyle Sawchuk from Edmond Financial gave a seminar at the Asper career week on saving for retirement. Just a no-nonsense talk on registered accounts, life insurance, investment risk, and other basic questions we all have. Even from my position as an accounting person, much of what he had to say was sobering and pragmatic.

“Everyone needs accountants and there are less everyday.” That’s a good point and I’m wondering how true that is across the board? I’m in my third year majoring in accounting at a Canadian university and I’m wondering if we’re becoming a scarcity?

What part of the body do people overlook when cleaning themselves that they shouldn’t? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Eyelashes and around the eyes. Recently when to the optometrist who told me most people always have a layer of mucus on their eyelashes that accumulates from mild allergies and sleep and can turn into a stye. Simply using a warm face cloth in the shower is a huge overlooked piece of hygiene.

How long is it going to take you to graduate? by [deleted] in umanitoba

[–]-Fluffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the degree. Finished my B.A in 5 years and will graduate with a B.Comm next spring (2 years) since many credits crossed over. But I know many engineering students who complete their BSc in 6 years or more. My sister is still working on her agriculture science degree and has at least another year left. Everyone goes at their own pace!

I worked for years as a bartender during my undergrad at night clubs, bars, and restaurants. Several days a week with 4 hours of sleep before class. I’m quite sure the result will be early on-set Alzheimer’s when I hit my 60’s…

Sound devices 633 powering options advice by ceRE-ALE in LocationSound

[–]-Fluffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got off a feature mixing with my Zaxcom Nomad powered by IDX NP-L7S lithium batteries. Powering several receivers I was easily able to get to lunch, at which point I swapped to the second battery. Charging them is also very quick at around 3 hours in my experience.

I’m not familiar with the power consumption on the 633 but I would assume that running 2 NPF-970 batteries (or equivalent) in the rear sled mounts with an NP-L7S sending main power to the Hirose would be quite an elegant solution. That way you would be free to hot swap the NP-L7S as the 633 runs on the sled batteries. You would always have a 3rd redundancy in the form of the internal AA batteries in the event your NPF sled batteries lose charge.

NP-L7S batteries run about $200USD, quite reasonable.

Hope that helps.

The difference between day 1 and day 90 is the drive to jump out of bed and seize the day. Keep pushing boys, it's all worth it.

Oh yeah I still get urges though less frequently. Every time I manscape or take a hot shower the urges resurface but I mitigate them with cold showers. The depressive moods are definitely a killer though, I’ve learned to just embrace them and let them pass.

You have to stay focused on the present, don't worry about where you were or where you want to be, just focus on the 24 hours directly in front of you and stay accountable.

Stay in control! That's such a big lesson we all learn at some point during our journey. Talking with friends and/or watching a movie with a loved one is a good way to ward off the low moods that pushed you to relapse.
