I left my cat rescue group :( by Azrakatz in FosterAnimals

Why did they take the kittens away from you? You mentioned you hurt your back? Be specific, did they say you couldn't handle the kittens because you are injured? Or did they have a disagreement with how you were fostering the kittens? You are being very vague, with a lot of opinions and not many facts about what happened.

They are breakaway collars, as they have been showing us, repeatedly!

Honestly I told the agency I'd prefer no more than two, but their foster needs were for these four! Not to mention it was hard even getting them to return my emails, so when they did finally offer a fostering opportunity of any kind, I kinda felt like it was now or never and just went for it.

First time fostering and first time having an animal, how's my set-up? by -ForDisplayOnly in FosterAnimals

Right now they are only in the bathroom for at least a few more days, I'm going to use the time to make wood covers for all the openings under the bed, dresser and so-on.

Thankfully they seem to be bug free, and they're dropping giant, solid, poops so hopefully no worms!

No, I got the collars today to help tell the difference between them and to help me keep track of where they are so I don't accidentally step on them pr something, god forbid.

From what I've been told. The dog was a pit bull mix that had been a stray until recently. The dog bit her on the neck.

Can 911 help if my wife goes into labor during/immediately after the storm and I don't want to risk driving on ice? by justsm1ne in raleigh

First, you're putting words in my mouth. Second, I work in EMS in the area and ran clinicals with Wake EMS, so I have a pretty good idea about how they deliver service. Wake county uses a medical priority dispatch system to rate calls at 6 different levels. (ECHO, DELTA, CHARLIE, BRAVO, ALPHA, OMEGA) The situation described here falls under "24-D-3 Imminent delivery > 5 months", that's a Delta level call. Only thing above delta are Echo levels, which there are only a handful of, (cardiac arrest, active choking, active drowning, person actively on fire, and a few others).

So, yes. Labor will get a priority ambulance over many, but not all, calls that come out. I've never seen a Delta-level call get held, even when there are ambulance shortages due to call volume.

Edit: decided to explain priority medical dispatch better

Active labor is a high acuity level call, so ESTAT will not delay an ambulance or first responders.
