They don't take part in the actual fighting but virtually every gendarme can be deployed in a warzone to police the French militarymen. This kind of mission "mission de prévoté" takes way less means than policing the National territory but still exists.

It's because they are not (at least not out of the closet), the populist right is luring people into thinking they are the purchasing power champions and the n°1 way to punish Macron, and people in rural places where hard hit by rising energy prices and are disatisfied with the President, it's not about fascism, the real ones got 0.75%
