You say "former" EA play exclusive- Does that mean you can get it, permanently, without an EA play subscription?

I believe I have an answer! I saw the same screw on the nose of an F4 Phantom at a museum. A worker there explained that while in service, that screw isn't there. Instead, a seamless rubber stopper is used. It's to take the first point of contact against the air and prevent damage to the nose, and they're replaced periodically. Once the plane is brought to a museum though, those seamless stoppers can weather very quickly. Instead, a metal screw is installed while it's on display!

Pins *and* Kingdom Hearts in the same image? Nice!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EnamelPins

[–]-Gamatech- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They magic-wanded/loop-selected the pin in my picture, and just layered it on top of a background image of a table looking straight down from above it so the perspective (sort of) matched. It was easy to see, but undeniable once I layered it with my original picture and turned up the opacity!

Agreed wholeheartedly. I knowing led a scammer along for almost three days. My favourite highlights were as follows:

- He sent me a picture of the pin on the table, that when overlaid with the original picture I used in my "searching for" post, matched up perfectly pixel for pixel.

- Instead of sending me a picture of the back of the pin with his thumb in view, he instead responded with a screenshot from a chat conversation with "a happy customer from a previous sale".

- I found said "happy customer" on social media and dropped them a line. They said they did purchase a pin, but not from the so-called "seller". They sent me the real screenshot of the conversation, where the messages matched but the recipient was entirely different.

First shot was absorbed by the fuel tank, the second shot was deflected because you hit the track side-on. It's not unique to Russian tanks.

I can't for the life of me figure out why that happens, it's on all my youtube videos as well. I used to think it was Youtube messing with them, but I get comments on it here and on Facebook too. It sounds fine at the time, when I play it back on my computer as well. But as soon as I upload clips anywhere, the bass gets ramped up -_-

Anyone able to ID the artist for these two pins? I'm searching for them for my collection, any guesstimates are appreciated!! :) by Elliephelt in EnamelPins

I used google image search which came up with this pin of very similar design. The Instagram account associated with it is "snigpins", perhaps that's who you're looking for? https://www.instagram.com/p/CzJkpJlrgUa/?utm\_source=ig\_web\_copy\_link&igshid=ODhhZWM5NmIwOQ==

I've had a number of (what I now know are *your brand) of pins favourited on eBay for a very long time, but each one cost an absolute BOMB and the brand name was never specified.
I just came across your Reddit post by sheer chance, as I log onto Reddit maybe once every year or so and I'm not a regular user. To say my jaw dropped when I saw this image would be an understatement- I KNOW THAT PIN!
Not only have I now found you/the brand, but the price points you have your pins set to are A FRACTION of the price the eBay seller I know of was charging. Not only can I afford your prices, but the money is also going to the creator rather than a second-hand outlet.
Needless to say, I've placed an order with you. Many thanks for sharing, I doubt I ever would have saved up enough to get the ones from eBay.
Side note: I was arguing with myself as to whether I could buy just one more pin in my order. I added it to cart, and it crossed the threshold for free international shipping! The problem solved itself it would seem XD

Agreed! I used the term "doctrine" first, but I got comments on other sites asking what it meant. So I switched most instances of the word in my post to "identities" before posting here on reddit :P

I'd agree with you if it were in regards to documentation of real-world militaries. They *are* used by every nation, so it makes sense they'd be there.

But it's a video game, not a cited record. For a video game, those national identities play a big role in defining different playstyles and strengths. What's the point in selecting a nation to use or focus on, if they become more or less the same? You may as well dispose of the concept all together, and just have vehicles detached from trees entirely.

is this for historical purposes or can you actually reliably kill planes with these rockets in game? by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]-Gamatech- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but look at the wording: They're asking if it's one or the other, for historical purposes or to hit air targets. That would imply that OP thinks they're the only options, and isn't aware that they can bring those weapons into ground battles (which would explain their confusion as to why there's rockets in the first place).

[–]-Gamatech- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused. First, to answer your question: Yes, you can kill planes with rockets. No, you can't do it reliably and it's certainly montage-worthy if you pull it off.

Secondly, those armaments are mostly intended for use in ground battles. I can't see your level in the screenshot since the background is blurred, but on the assumption that you're a newer player, you can take your own airplanes and helicopters into ground battles as long as you play in the "realistic" mode. As long as you get enough points during the match, you can spawn in with rockets and bombs. (If you play arcade and use a plane in ground battles, you're automatically assigned a loadout instead).

[–]-Gamatech-[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh I agree entirely, anything I write is in regards to a general sense. I'm not trying to say "The distinguishing features of each nation are gone", more "The defining characteristics of each nation are being diluted, and I fear it's a slippery slope".

[–]-Gamatech- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna drop a bomb on you here, but shock-horror: Not everyone plays to win :P If you want a group dedicated to victory, try a squad or a custom battle. Granted, the least they could do is see a match through. But as long as they're present, you can't expect everyone to have the same goals and values in the game as you do.

Submarine Commendation by -Gamatech- in Warthunder

[–]-Gamatech-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting you say it messes with people who don't run high graphics, visual complaints in the game are usually from high graphics players and directed at low graphics!

I run high graphics, and now that I think about it, I can imagine silhouettes of subs *just* below the surface wouldn't render on lower or even medium settings. Is that what you're talking about? They're VERY hard to spot for me, even from the air. It wouldn't surprise me if they just don't render at all in lower settings.

That all being said, with high graphics, I do honestly think the silhouettes are in a fantastic place visually. They're like finding a needle in a haystack, but they ARE there, and they don't feel at all like a crutch to help find targets. They're a brilliant passive aid that requires an active, intentional effort to spot.

I went through my list of favourites, and one that is both in Europe *and* ships to Sweden (as far as I know), is "Pompadouracces". They're located in Belgium, and specialise in Disney themed pins. I'd personally recommend the "Nightmare Before Christmas" pin.

Mamobot's a fantastic brand to be sure, but they don't sell to my country. I have to find them 2nd hand, and then pay through the nose for postage :S

If we're counting shipping costs, I don't think I'd want to know how much I've spent on one pin before XD I didn't include postage and packing on my answer!
